Chapter 403: Chapter 1: The Journey Begins

Li Xiao and Huang Pengfei, two friends who loved to travel, shouldered their bags and embarked on a journey through China, full of surprises. Their first stop was the world-renowned Zhangjiajie.

Li Xiao stood at the foot of the mountains in Zhangjiajie, his eyes filled with awe as he gazed up at the strange, magnificent peaks that pierced the clouds. "Pengfei, look at these mountains! They’re absolutely spectacular! It feels like we’ve stepped into a giant ink wash painting."

Huang Pengfei was also stunned by the sight, nodding repeatedly. "Isn’t it though! I’d long heard that the mountains of Zhangjiajie are unparalleled, and seeing them today, they really live up to their reputation."

The two followed a winding mountain path. Along the way, lush trees provided ample shade and birdsong filled the air, making it feel as if they were in a fairyland. They walked at a leisurely pace, stopping from time to time to pull out their cameras and capture the beautiful moments.

"Hey, Li Xiao, do you think there are immortals on these mountains?" Huang Pengfei joked.

Li Xiao laughed. "Maybe there are! Look at this scenery. It’s so beautiful, even immortals would surely love it here."

They arrived at the Yuanjiajie scenic area. Standing on the observation deck, the view before them took their breath away. Enormous stone pillars shot up from the ground, and mist swirled between the peaks like a light veil of gauze.

"Wow, this is just too beautiful!" Li Xiao couldn’t help but exclaim.

Huang Pengfei was too moved to speak. After a long moment, he finally said, "This is truly the work of the gods!"

They strolled through the scenic area, admiring the peculiar peaks and the beautiful natural landscape. From time to time, small monkeys would be seen playing by the roadside, adding a great deal of fun to their journey.

"Look, that little monkey is so cute!" Li Xiao said, pointing to one playing in a tree.

Huang Pengfei said with a laugh, "Haha, the monkeys here aren’t afraid of people at all. They might even try to snatch our things."

As he spoke, a little monkey actually did run over and look at them curiously. Li Xiao quickly took out a snack and offered it to the monkey. The little creature took the treat and happily scurried away.

After touring Yuanjiajie, they moved on to the Emperor Mountain scenic area. The scenery at Emperor Mountain was even more majestic and magnificent, with peaks that thrust into the sky like swords.

"This Emperor Mountain really has the air of a king!" Li Xiao remarked with emotion.

Huang Pengfei nodded in agreement. "Yeah, it feels like all the peaks here have a certain imposing majesty."

They continued along the mountain path until they came to a waterfall. It cascaded down from a great height, sending spray everywhere and creating a deafening roar.

"Wow, what a spectacular waterfall!" Li Xiao said excitedly.

Huang Pengfei was also awestruck by the power of the falls. "Come on, let’s go check it out from below."

They went to the base of the waterfall, feeling the cool mist wash over them. Below the falls was a pool of crystal-clear water.

"The water’s so clear!" Li Xiao crouched down and gently touched the surface of the pool.

Huang Pengfei also crouched down and washed his hands. "So cool! I feel completely refreshed."

After a full day of sightseeing, the two were getting hungry. They decided to go try some of the local cuisine.

"I’ve heard the Sanxiaguo hot pot in Zhangjiajie is very good. Let’s go try it," Li Xiao suggested.

Huang Pengfei nodded in agreement. "Okay, let’s go."

They found a local restaurant and ordered a Sanxiaguo. Before long, the dish arrived at their table. The hot pot was incredibly fragrant, filled with ingredients like cured meat, tofu, and radish, and the flavor was delicious.

"Mmm, delicious!" Li Xiao took a bite and couldn’t stop praising it.

Huang Pengfei also ate with great relish. "This flavor is really something. It has the perfect spicy kick."

After dinner, they went to watch a local folk performance. The show was spectacular, featuring songs and dances from the Tu Clan and an embroidery exhibition from the Miao Clan.

"These folk performances are so unique," Li Xiao said.

Huang Pengfei was also captivated. "Yeah, they really give you a feel for the charm of the local culture."

After the performance, they went to buy some local specialty products. Zhangjiajie’s specialties included kudzu root powder, stone ear fungus, and Du Zhong Tea. They bought some kudzu root powder and stone ear fungus to bring back as gifts for family and friends.

"What a fulfilling day," Li Xiao remarked.

Huang Pengfei nodded in agreement. "It really was. The scenery in Zhangjiajie is beautiful, the food is delicious, and the folk performances were amazing. Where should we go next?"

Li Xiao thought for a moment. "Let’s go to Guilin. I hear its scenery is the best in the world."

"Alright, let’s go then!" Huang Pengfei said excitedly.

And so, filled with fond memories and high expectations, Li Xiao and Huang Pengfei set off on their journey to Guilin.

Li Xiao and Huang Pengfei arrived in Guilin, full of anticipation. The moment they stepped off the train, they were captivated by the city’s fresh air and beautiful scenery.

"Wow, Pengfei, the air here is so fresh!" Li Xiao took a deep breath.

Huang Pengfei was also reveling in it. "Yeah, I feel completely relaxed. Come on, let’s drop our luggage at the hotel first, then we’ll go enjoy the sights of Guilin."

They went to the hotel they had booked, and after dropping off their luggage, they set out eagerly. Their first stop was the Li River. Standing on the bank and looking at the emerald-green water and the uniquely shaped peaks on either side, they felt as if they had stepped into a beautiful painting.

"The water of the Li River is so green! It’s like a giant piece of jade," Li Xiao exclaimed in admiration.

Huang Pengfei was also stunned by the beautiful sight. "Look at those peaks—some look like camels, others like elephants. It’s incredible."

They boarded a cruise boat and sailed slowly along the Li River. A gentle breeze brushed against their faces, bringing with it a refreshing coolness. The scenery along the way was breathtaking, and they couldn’t stop taking pictures to commemorate the moment.
