Global Survival: I Got the D-Rank Personnel Simulator
Chapter 924: Lunar Base
- Lunar Base
“Uh... So you want us to help you build a moon rocket? Do you have some kind of misunderstanding about us?”
Zhao Jie couldn’t hold back any longer and broke into a rather comical smile.
“If that’s what you think, then I really shouldn’t have come to you for help.”
Lin Ye looked at Zhao Jie, speechless.
“You want to work with us outside? Make a plan first?”
Su Yue was much more reliable than Zhao Jie.
“The situation outside is extremely complicated. We’ll run into a lot of trouble if we act out there. Besides, there’s an even more fatal problem: there aren’t any materials for building a moon rocket inside the research base.”
Lin Ye had no intention of going to the moon outside. Out there, he was only a D-Class personnel, and these survivors might not help him.
What was more, these people were affected by some unknown force outside, making them extremely unstable. They were far more reliable here.
The advantages of going outside were the supernatural powers and the knowledge possessed by the researchers, but neither of those was irreplaceable.
“But we don’t have any materials either. You can’t expect us to use bed boards to get to the moon, can you?”
Zhao Jie still felt Lin Ye was trying to fool them.
“Of course we’re going to the lunar base to get materials that are already there. I checked at noon. The nearest lunar base is only 495.7 kilometers from here.”
Lin Ye had already worked out the entire plan, but it wasn’t something he could accomplish alone. The situation over there was unknown, and there were plenty of problems to solve.
“...Didn’t you say this is a world of consciousness? Could it really be that big?”
One of the students spoke up.
“You may have a bit of a misunderstanding about what ‘big’ means. To anomalous phenomena, a few hundred kilometers is a very small area.”
While using his phone at noon, Lin Ye had discovered that this world was extremely complete. The outside might well be an entire world.
If he couldn’t find the lunar base, he would come up with another plan.
“I’ll go with you. You’ve already thought the whole plan through, right?”
Su Yue spoke decisively.
“Yeah. It’ll only take four hours to get there by train. I’ve already rented some transportation, but before we go, I need to visit the Infirmary to get a few pills. By the way, Teacher Wang is a real pain to deal with.”
Lin Ye didn’t want Teacher Wang to kill him halfway there.
“I can distract Teacher Wang while you steal the medicine.”
Another student spoke up.
“Good.”
Lin Ye explained the entire plan. None of the students around him objected. After all, they had all seen the corpses and had long doubted whether this world was real.
After discussing it, three students agreed to go with Lin Ye and scout the place: Su Yue, Zhao Jie, and Zhou Si.
Zhou Si knew a fair bit about spacecraft, and volunteered to join the operation.
The three of them booked their train tickets on their phones, then went back to prepare for departure.
Lin Ye went to the Infirmary with one of the students. Teacher Wang was still inside.
The student lured Teacher Wang out of the Infirmary, and Lin Ye seized the chance to slip in and steal a few pills.
After these several simulations, he already knew which kind of medicine to use.
After leaving the Infirmary, Lin Ye exited the school through the north gate. Su Yue and the others were already waiting for him in a taxi.
The taxi took them to the train station, and the three of them boarded the train to the lunar base without a hitch.
“I still can’t believe it. We actually came out here just because of a story he made up?”
Zhao Jie watched the scenery rushing past the window and spoke with a bewildered look.
“Then why did you come along?”
Lin Ye ate some snacks. He wasn’t sure if this would work either. It was just an attempt.
“...I was afraid you’d die out here.”
Zhao Jie didn’t know why he had come along. He didn’t really care about those corpses.
“Now that we’re out here, we should see this through. If this really is a world of consciousness, then I hope we can wake up as soon as possible.”
Su Yue wanted to leave this world right away. To her, this world simply wasn’t “right.”
“...I just got a message. It looks like Teacher Wang is gone.”
Zhou Si suddenly spoke up.
“That’s a bit of a problem. I hope it takes a while for her to catch up.”
Lin Ye glanced at the car window. Even if Teacher Wang suddenly appeared outside it, he wouldn’t find it strange.
“She can catch up to us?”
Zhao Jie didn’t think Teacher Wang could find them.
After all, no normal person would go to a space center in the middle of the night to travel to the moon.
“I took medicine from the Infirmary. Teacher Wang might be able to use it to find us.”
Lin Ye had to prepare for the worst.
“...That really is kind of terrifying.”
Zhao Jie didn’t want to get off the train and find Teacher Wang waiting for them outside.
“Forget it. Let’s rest for a bit. We won’t have time to rest later.”
Lin Ye closed his eyes. The train wouldn’t reach its stop for another three hours.
The three hours passed quickly, and the train arrived on schedule. Teacher Wang didn’t appear outside the window or stop the train.
“By the way, you said you rented a vehicle. Do you have a driver’s license?”
Su Yue suddenly thought of a problem.
“No need. I rented an electric bike.”
After leaving the nearly deserted station, Lin Ye led them to the nearest shared electric bike lot.
“All right, you really don’t need a license for that.”
Su Yue nervously twisted the throttle. It was her first time riding one of these.
“Follow me. I memorized the map around here.”
Lin Ye led the way, with Su Yue and the others following behind him.
The electric bikes weren’t slow, but with the other three researchers in mind, Lin Ye didn’t speed up. He kept to a moderate pace.
After forty minutes, the four of them drew close to the lunar base.
“Stop. We’ll sneak up to it.”
Lin Ye parked the electric bike by the roadside, then approached the lunar base from the shadows.
This wasn’t some unnoticed park in a residential complex. A high-tech facility related to lunar exploration would certainly have a tight security system.
“Can’t we get in with our student IDs and ask for a tour?”
Zhao Jie followed behind Lin Ye and whispered.
“Maybe your student ID will be useful after the security guard catches you.”
Lin Ye went around the nearby cameras and made his way to the outside of a tall wall. The lunar base was on the other side.
“It’s too high. We can’t climb over!”
Zhou Si stared nervously behind them, like a thief in the middle of a crime.
“I brought a rope.”
Using friction for support, Lin Ye climbed to the top of the wall in just a few moves. He glanced inside and quickly worked out a route for sneaking in.
“There are a lot of surveillance devices inside. I’ll lead the way. Stay behind me, and don’t wander off.”
Lin Ye jumped down from the top of the wall and briefly explained to the other three how they should proceed.
“Okay, but you’ll have to pull us up first.”
Su Yue looked at the nearly three-meter-high wall in front of her. Even if he gave her a rope, she still wouldn’t be able to climb it.
