Chapter 58: Chapter 058: The Alternate Dimension (4); The S class Ravager!

The beast lunged first, after getting bored with the staring contest. Its movements made it look like a mountain collapsing!

A single stride crushed trunks of trees into splinters. The second stride tore a crater into the ground. And for its heavy look and size, it was surprisingly quick on its feet. At some point, it got down on all fours and sped up even more!

But Mikael didn’t move at first.

He waited. Watched, and measured.

Then, a step.

In the next heartbeat after he moved, the world blurred in his vision.

The beast’s claws swung upward, rending the air. Yet Mikael was already gone.

The attack cleaved through the earth below where he had previously stood, sending dust, dirt, and debris skyward!

A whisper of displaced air—then a flash. Mikael appeared, standing atop a tree.

But the next instant, he blitzed.

When he next appeared, he was below the beast. Breathing through his teeth, his punch went up, slamming into the beast’s stomach and sending it a few feet into the air!

Mikael looked at his hand. It was slightly burned. Meanwhile, his uniform—or at least what was left of it—was drenched in sweat that evaporated as quickly as it formed.

"This thing is quite hard." Saying so, he popped a bone back into place. "I think I have to take things a bit more seriously."

Leo regained its footing and roared; the kind that showed its wounded pride. Something it had deemed weaker was actually somehow not as weak as it had believed! And it was actually fighting back!

It charged once more, however, a bit slower this time as it tried to actually keep its opponent in its view.

Once it got closer, a swipe of its claws instantly leveled a few feet ahead, but Mikael had already vanished.

He had leapt up into the sky, just above Leo’s head. And the following kick slammed hard!

BAM!

The beast’s face slammed hard into the ground, and amidst the rising dust, a few teeth could be seen scattered all around!

Back at the courtyard, the one word that persisted in the minds of many was: "Incredible!"

Murmurs and gasps continued to fill the air as the prospects watched his feat.

The ash uniform they wore was not much different from what the white-haired boy with strange eyes wore. But his movement was out of this world to most of them!

Even the Student Council was shocked, but managed not to show it on their faces.

"We have got quite the monstrous talent this year, President," Audry muttered.

Over at the ruins, the beast moved and charged, its speed a bit faster and its aim seemingly more resolute: Kill the prey before it and reestablish dominance.

But before it could reach its target, the prey had already moved.

A bare fist drove into the joint behind its elbow.

Once, twice, thrice—each strike rippled across the scales where they hit.

The godbeast ’screamed,’ staggering sideways as Mikael pulled back. One of its forelimbs bent, the bone apparently fractured.

"Hey, big guy," Mikael called out from atop a near-crumbling wall.

"Seems like your body is not as tough as your roar."

The beast spun, and its tail tore through the air. The wind pressure alone cracked open the ground in an arc of a few tens of meters.

To dodge, Mikael leapt backwards, at some point using his fingertips to balance himself on flying slabs of stone midair before landing smoothly on the ground. Celestial essence was truly divine.

But just as he landed, the ground before him erupted in a wave of hot liquid.

"Huh?"

A concentrated beam of magma shot out, instantly enveloping Mikael.

---

"Headmaster!"

"Oh, fret not, Professor Andrews."

---

The beast roared in satisfaction. Its body was now glowing as veins of red-hot mana surged beneath its scales—it was drawing on its core. It had learned mid-fight; this opponent required going all out.

"Finally got serious?" Mikael said with a loud laugh moments later. "Fine. I love the enthusiasm."

The beam of magma was completely unexpected. Had he dared to tank the attack, his body would have been severely burned, and the one thing he had been preventing was dying trapped in a mortal body.

So he channeled celestial essence to gather just inches away from his body, and that served as his shield, keeping away even the heat. To a great extent, at least.

"My backlash is coming. Best to end things quickly before it does."

He flexed his fingers once.

The earth cracked beneath his feet.

Then he moved.

No blur this time.

No flash.

No afterimage.

Just a motion too fast for the eyes of his victim or those of the spectators to follow.

The sound arrived very much after the impact. A resounding boom came after a heavy kick that sent Leo crashing into a cliff a few hundred feet away! Thick clouds of dust clouded the area.

"What happened?"

"Too fast."

"Isabella, just what kind of monstrous talent did your family recruit?"

"Well, he did put up quite the fight against my father..."

"What? Against Diamond Prison?"

"Surprisingly, yes."

Mikael’s voice was low and calm.

"You dead? Don’t even dare to disappoint."

His smile curved almost unnaturally, predatory.

A guttural snarl answered.

The beast rose again, now covered in wounds as its scales fell off. Its eyes now glowed with faint sentience, fearful. The realization that its prey was not actually prey.

"You creatures really do adapt, huh? Well, I’m getting bored of dealing with you if this is what you amount to. Come, let’s get this over with."

Suddenly, the sound of heavy groans filled the jungle-ruin. A sound like the rending of silk followed as reality tore beside Mikael.

Out of the hole, a black scythe that pulsed with malevolent energy drifted out and into his hand.

"Headmaster, do you have any idea what kind of weapon distorts space like that?"

Malcius already sat up.

"This kid is really full of surprises." What kind of weapon was he holding? Surely a Relic Grade. Or even above that!

"Come. One more move," Mikael urged the beast. "Just one."

As if it understood, the beast charged. This time, it breathed very hot flames as it rushed.

Mikael also lunged forward, not even caring for the flames all around.

He charged directly into it.

He saw claws extending, swinging with the most murderous intent he had ever felt before!

He ducked under, twisting mid-motion, and drew an arc with the scythe in an upward motion.

This all happened in an instant.

Only when both parties finally stopped moving did Leo—and most spectators—notice that its life had been forfeit.

As Mikael stored his scythe away, the head of the ferocious godbeast fell to the ground.

The head still breathed, and the eyes of the beast were still in a daze. It was trying to move, yet it couldn’t.

The "prey" came into its now blood-red vision. It tried to roar, yet no sound came forth.

The "pest" put one of its little feet on its nose before ripping out something from its forehead.

It tried to roar—to crush the puny thing beneath. Yet... it could..... move no more.

It had died.

"Good job, big guy." The puny figure began walking away, half of its "fur" burned away.

A heavy silence hung over the entire audience of spectators. They watched the back of the retreating figure in a daze.

"He did it!!!"

A scream rose up somewhere, followed by a standing ovation.

This slowly brought the audience out of their daze.

And cheers rose high into the air.
