Chapter 106: Sudden Spar

  • Next Chapter

"What the hell!?"

Regis couldn’t help but exclaim out loud as he saw the large amount of swords in the weapon racks.

Even Pandora behind him had her mouth slightly parted in shock.

"Do you really have to react that way? Is it really that impressive?" Killian scratched the back of his head as he spoke with an unsure tone.

As a child that was born in a rich family, he really had low awareness of how valuable the things in his possession were.

All he knew was that he was rich. Filthy rich.

"Are you crazy!? This is very impressive! Each and everyone of these swords are high grade!"

Regis responded as he looked over the hundreds or so pristine swords.

"Well of course, the House Gladius is one of the most prominent sword families of the entire Acheron Kingdom!"

Killian unconsciously raised his chin as he felt proud of his family.

’Don’t worry, mom, dad... and all of the Gladius Family. I will, for sure, make our family rise up again.’

Within the pride he was showing, a touch of melancholy could be sensed in his eyes.

Seeing Regis and Pandora who were looking at the swords so closely that it looked like they were going to kiss it, he let out a laugh.

"Haha! Why are you only looking at it? You can’t tell how good a sword is just by looking."

Hearing his words, Regis and Pandora’s head snapped towards his direction with wide eyes.

Regis’s hand trembled as he pointed at the sword, "D-Do you mean that we can t-touch them...?"

"What kind of question is that? Of cour–"

Clank—!!!

"-se...?"

Killian’s face froze as he looked at the two who had already engaged in a sword fight.

Clank— Clank—

"Take this, Brother! Hiyaaa~"

What astounded him even more was the fact that Regis’s sister, who was supposed to be a mage, was even more proactive than her brother.

’Wait... why does her swordsmanship look like...’

He didn’t know if he was imagining it, but he saw something within her moves that made him feel something.

However, Killian only shook his head in the next second with a smile, "That can’t be."

After all, he witnessed how she casted magic spells. Therefore, he didn’t pay any more attention to what he noticed.

"Regis on the other hand..."

He smirked unconsciously as he felt his soul stirring, "He’s exceptional...!"

’A little spar wouldn’t hurt, right?’

Unable to stop himself any longer, Killian grabbed a sword from the side and charged.

Clank— Clank— Clank—

Regis and Pandora were currently play fighting with the swords they got from the side when Regis suddenly felt something cutting through the air with great speed.

With a gentle wave of his hand, he brushed Pandora to the side and blocked the sword that threatened to cut him in half.

CLANK!!!

"What’s the meaning of this, Killian?" A serious expression appeared in his eyes.

However, Killian only smirked, "Just a little something. After all, I need to know just how strong my comrade would be, right?"

"Oh."

Hearing his words, Regis’s eyes calmed down.

’What the hell was that...?’

Just then, he had already prepared himself to kill him.

’This is a first for me. Is it my demonic human habits acting up? Hmmm...’

As his mind was filled with thoughts, he returned a smile at Killian, "Very well. If I want to be the leader of the party, then I guess I need to subdue you as well..."

"Subdue? Such big words coming from you."

Killian’s eyes widened in excitement as he withdrew his sword from the deadlock.

He closed his eyes and opened them in the next second, this time also flashing with serious battle intent.

He held the sword with both his hands before assuming a stance.

The blade of the sword lay parallel from his face, with its end pointing towards Regis’s direction.

"Oho? Serious from the get-go, are we?"

Regis spoke as he stayed right where he was without moving an inch.

"Pardon me, but I have little to no experience when it comes to swordsmanship. Please teach me plenty of things~"

He said with a carefree smile on his face.

"Hmmm... Let’s see about that." Killian obviously didn’t believe him.

Swoosh—

His figure blurred as he instantly arrived in front of Regis and performed a downward vertical slash.

This was a testament of his hard work in training.

The sole fact that he could move like this even without the activation of his aura was enough for Regis to gauge him.

Looking at the sword that had already arrived in front of his face, Regis, still with his carefree smile, fell backwards.

No, it wasn’t that he moved backwards. He literally fell as if he was merely playing a game of trust fall.

Seeing this, Killian’s eyes widened in confusion, ’Won’t he be out of balanc—’

CLANK!!!

However, before he could complete his thought, he felt something block his sword.

All he could do was watch in surprise as Regis, as he was falling, raised his sword in order to block his strike.

Before his body hit the floor, he used his free hand as a pivot and performed a flip.

Tap—

As his feet gracefully landed on the floor, he cracked his neck, "That surprised me."

This time, he took the initiative and dashed.

Clank— Clank—

CLING!!!

What followed after was a series of them exchanging sword strikes one after the other.

Meanwhile, Pandora watched all of this from the side, ’They’re amazing...!’

At first, she didn’t believe it when Regis had told her about how capable this so-called Killian was.

However, when she saw how rich he was, she began to think otherwise.

Currently, her image of him has begun to somewhat improve ’It turns out that he’s not a deadweight like I thought...’

Although she knew that Regis had yet to even try, she found it impressive that Killian was still able to keep up with him.

CLANK! CLANK! CLANK!!!

Sparks flew because of the friction created by the two swords clashing with each other.

Thddddd—!!!

"Huff... Huff..."

Killian breathed as his feet slid backwards.

"You... what are you?"

He couldn’t believe what happened.

As they fought, he began to see through Regis’s swordsmanship.

And through it, he found out that, ’What he told me earlier was true! He really didn’t have that much experience when it comes to the sword!"

As the most talented descendant of a family that dedicated their lives to the way of the sword, he could tell.

Regis was not good at swordsmanship.

After all, Killian could see that his movement wasn’t that attuned with the sword.

However, what made him feel uncomfortable was the fact that no tricks could be used on Regis twice.

Once he used a technique, then he must not use it again.

This was because everytime he did, Regis was able to counter him.

There were even many times where he had almost let go of his sword because of this.

’Is he a fast learner? No, that can’t be...’

Killian’s eyes revealed discomfort as he looked at Regis’s smile.

’If that was the case, then he wouldn’t have been able to make my swordsmanship look so useless...’

That was right. That’s what he was feeling right at this moment.

The years he had dedicated to the sword: useless.

At first, Regis was able to counter him.

But as their fight took longer, he found out that no matter what he did, it was as if Regis was already expecting it.

"What? Don’t tell me you’d want to battle me in a staring contest instead?"

Regis said provocatively after he saw that Killian seemed to have lost focus as he stared at him.

His words proved to be effective as a vein seemed to pop on Killian’s temple.

"You really have a way with words..."

"As I’ve been told~"

"Well, why don’t we take it up a notch?" Killian said as a glowing star soon appeared on his chest.

Cackle— Cackle—!!!

Soon enough, yellow lightning began to cackle around him.

"Are you sure about this? Aren’t we going to break this room if we use aura?"

"Don’t worry about that. This armory was made with reinforced steel to ensure that there would be no damages if spars took place."

"Damn..." Regis felt speechless at the tycoon before him, "If you say so..."

Sensing that he was preparing to attack, Killian focused with all he had as he squinted his eyes while preparing himself.

There were two reasons as to why he wanted them to spar using aura.

The first was that he wanted to see more of Regis.

And the second was the fact that he knew...

’I have already lost in the last round of our spar.’ His eye twitched at the realization that dawned upon his heart.
