Chapter 323: Battle Over

  • Next Chapter

The battle did not last for much longer.

Thud—

A soft sound soon echoed in the area.

For some reason, despite the storm of abilities that was ravaging the Sacred Land, this soft thud somehow overwhelmed them all.

Inside the dome of starlights, Elysia and Wisteria’s eyes widened.

Thump— Thump— Thump—

The frantic pounding of their hearts drowned their senses.

It was as if the world itself stopped in this instant.

Even the abomination could not help but stop in its tracks, ’W... Wha.... What... is... happ... happening...’

For some reason, the clarity in its eyes flickered as its thoughts began to slow down.

At the same time, Astrum Sanctuarium began to fail.

The dome of starlights started flickering intensely before it diminished into sparkles a moment after.

"No..." Wisteria whispered under her breath.

Elysia did not utter a word, but her face was drained of all color.

The reason for all these was the scene before their eyes.

In the middle of the wasteland that had been known before as the Temple of Life...

Regis, who had been moving like an unstoppable flowing river earlier, had now abruptly come to a halt.

The soft thud earlier had been nothing other than the sound of his knees hitting the ground.

In the midst of the calamity, he knelt silently.

The rain of arrows from Wrath of Nature, the black roots of Radix Damnatio, and the Withering Slash that had pursued him since earlier... were now less than a centimeter away.

Just as they were about to hit him.

Just as Elysia and Wisteria’s desperation reached its peak.

Everything vanished.

All the abilities that had been cast earlier had now been cancelled.

Before anyone could even make sense of the situation, the abomination felt something in its soul.

Inside its brain was something like a directive that activated right this instant.

The abomination felt a slight abnormality within it, but its gaze locked into a certain direction, "The queen!"

It still remembered the mission carved on its very soul: to kill Elysia.

In an instant, its limb elongated as the rosy bone sword shot forward towards the Elven Queen with terrifying speed and precision.

Despite the overwhelming danger in front of her, Elysia’s gaze remained locked onto the kneeling young man in the distance.

At this moment, Regis’s expression remained blank.

His left eye was still closed, and his right eye lost all the light within it.

He knelt silently with his head lowered.

Wisteria floated in front of Elysia with her arms spread, wanting to take the blow for her.

The abomination’s bone sword was now centimeters away from her.

And then, like the previous abilities it had cast, the sword abruptly came to a halt.

’What—’

SKREEEE—--!!!!

Before Elysia and Wisteria could even form a thought, they were interrupted by a wail.

At this moment, the abomination looked like it was having a seizure.

Its giant body trembled as its four arms flailed wildly.

"That monster looks like..." Wisteria could not help but feel that something was off.

Elysia’s brows furrowed as she added a moment later, "It looks like it’s fighting itself."

The abomination shouted at the top of its lungs.

"N... No...! Y-You...!?"

Its words became slow, as if it was travelling to form thoughts and speak through its mouth.

"You... Mo... M-Monste—"

Before it could even finish its words, the rosy bone sword in front of Wisteria shot back and pierced Elwood’s throat.

Unlike before, when both heads moved in perfect sync, now every movement seemed to require immense effort and caused excruciating pain.

The bow in the upper limb’s hands fell to the ground with a thud, as its lower free hand that had been used to cast magic spells earlier desperately grabbed the limb of the rosy bone sword, attempting to pull it from one of its heads’ throats.

Creak—

At this moment, Elysia and Wisteria, who were dumbfounded by the scene before them, sensed a movement from afar.

It was none other than Regis who unsteadily pushed himself back to his feet.

"Ugh..."

He let out a pained groan as he clutched his head with his right hand.

His left eye remained shut, his left arm dangling at his side, and he dragged his left leg as he staggered forward with a limp.

Exhaustion could be seen all over Regis’s face as he approached the flailing monster.

"You..."

The abomination squeezed a word out of its mouth with tremendous difficulty as it used its free upper limbs to attack the young man in front of it.

Swwosh— Swoosh—

However, before its claws could even reach its enemy, it tripped.

Not only did its claws suddenly start fighting each other, but its four feet also gave in as it looked like it lost control of its body.

Even the perfect coordination it had earlier was now gone.

"You... Y-You..."

The abomination repeatedly said the same word, as if it was filled with shock but was unable to express it properly.

Then, under Elysia and Wisteria’s gazes, Regis drove the iridescent blade in his hand towards the monster’s heart.

Shuik!

Black blood spurted like a fountain from the abomination’s chest.

The veins on its neck bulged, but it was not able to even scream anymore.

All its limbs hung limp on the ground, as if it had been paralyzed from head to toe.

Regis’s right hand worked hard, repeatedly thrusting the Shard of Tinateria in that one spot.

Due to his lack of energy and strength to utilize even his Weakpoint Creation, he had no choice but to repeatedly stab the monster with his weapon.

This lasted for more than a minute.

Feeling the scent of death, the abomination’s desperation reached its peak as it forcefully opened its mouth.

"You... Dev—!"

Just like before, before it could finish its incoherent words, Regis stopped it by slashing at its throat.

Thud.

Finally, both of the abominations’ heads hit the ground as life completely vanished from their eyes.

Seeing this, Regis seemed to have finally lost all his strength as he collapsed on his knees.

Elysia and Wisteria hurried over and supported him from behind.

Even though their minds could not comprehend what happened, the result was clear in their eyes.

Regis had won.
