Chapter 958 - 955
Chapter 958: Chapter 955
Ling Yu was dressed in a black suit, and the snow‑white shirt inside was already completely dyed red!
"..." Gu Xiaoning was stunned, unable to say a word.
Ling Yu clutched his abdomen, struggling to walk inside.
Gu Xiaoning looked at him, as if snapping back to her senses. "I’ll go find the butler... ah!"
Her wrist suddenly tightened—Ling Yu had grabbed her...
"?" Gu Xiaoning had no idea what was going on, staring at him in shock.
Ling Yu’s brows were tightly knotted, his thin lips parted slightly. "No one can know!"
"Ah?" Gu Xiaoning was dumbfounded. She didn’t understand—why? Wasn’t the butler part of the Ling Family?
Ling Yu clamped down on her wrist like a vise. "Come upstairs with me!"
That look in his eyes—Gu Xiaoning had never seen it before... The way Ling Yu was staring at her, it was like he might crush her wrist to pieces in the next second! But he seemed to be afraid of something too; his body trembled slightly as he forced himself to hold back.
So, Gu Xiaoning helped Ling Yu upstairs.
"Ugh!"
As soon as they entered the bedroom, Ling Yu’s knees buckled and he collapsed to the floor.
"You..." Gu Xiaoning was terrified. What was she supposed to do? Where exactly was he hurt? Was he going to die?
Ling Yu turned his head and looked at her, the corner of his mouth quirking up at a slant. "Relax, I’m not dying just yet... I just look a bit more miserable like this."
He swung his arm up and slammed it hard into the floor, roaring, "Those people think they can take my life? Tch, they don’t even stop to think whether they have the capability!"
"..." Gu Xiaoning didn’t really understand; she could only guess that he’d been chased down by someone?
She swallowed. "Um..."
Ling Yu pointed toward the walk‑in closet. "Go in. Bottom of the cabinet on the left side—there’s a medical kit."
"...Oh." Gu Xiaoning nodded hurriedly. With the way he was right now, he needed treatment immediately.
Gu Xiaoning got up at once, found the medical kit, and opened it with practiced ease.
She’d once been a nurse, even if not a particularly outstanding one... but she still understood the basics.
"You..." Gu Xiaoning hesitated. "You’re not calling a doctor?"
Ling Yu shook his head. "No. I’ll handle it myself."
Watching him grit his teeth as cold sweat poured down...
Gu Xiaoning took a deep breath. "I’ll do it!"
"..." Ling Yu froze for a second and looked at her. "You?"
"Yeah." Gu Xiaoning glanced at him. "Where exactly are you hurt? I’m thinking, as long as it’s not to the point of needing surgery and hospitalization, I should be able to manage..."
She spoke as she took things out of the kit.
A flicker of amazement flashed in Ling Yu’s eyes. "You... you’re a doctor?"
"No." Gu Xiaoning shook her head. "I’m not that smart. I’ve never been good at studying since I was a kid... I used to be a nurse. So, can you trust me?"
Ling Yu was stunned, then laughed. "A dead horse is still worth treating like a live one. If you’ve been a nurse, you’ve got to be better than me..."
"You..." Gu Xiaoning pointed at him. "Take off your clothes."
"Mm." Ling Yu nodded and stripped off his blood‑soaked suit and shirt, one piece at a time.
Only then did Gu Xiaoning see clearly—the wound was on his abdomen... No wonder he’d been holding it just now.
"This..." Gu Xiaoning examined it carefully, her delicate brows knitting tight. "The internal organs aren’t damaged, but the dermis is torn and the bleeding is too severe... I’m afraid you’ll need stitches."
Ling Yu frowned as well. "Stitches... seriously?"
"..." Gu Xiaoning knew what he was worried about. "I’m just afraid it won’t look very neat. And I’m not that practiced... Are you sure we really can’t get a doctor?"
Of course Ling Yu had thought of that. He’d figured he could tough it out, but looking at this, that was wishful thinking.
In his current situation, he couldn’t trust anyone! Even though this was the Ling Family... who was truly on his side? Ling Yu still didn’t dare say for sure.
He clenched his teeth and looked at Gu Xiaoning. "Do it. You stitch it."
"..."
Gu Xiaoning was genuinely startled. She was going to do the stitching?
"Hurry up!" Ling Yu growled. "You want to watch me bleed out and die?"
"..." Gu Xiaoning gulped as she stared at the wound on his abdomen. If it weren’t for the fact that the blood was pouring out so badly, she really wouldn’t want to get involved.
"O‑okay..."
Gu Xiaoning finally managed to work up her courage. This medical kit was top‑tier; it had practically everything.
"Th‑then I’ll start."
"Mm."
Ling Yu lay down on the bed, and Gu Xiaoning hurried to spread a large bath towel under him. Pressing gauze against the wound, she said, "I’ll try to be quick... just hang in there!"
Once she actually started doing it, Gu Xiaoning got even more nervous.
She’d always been an assistant, after all. When she injected the anesthetic, Ling Yu’s face twisted in pain. "Ugh!"
"Does it really hurt that much?" Gu Xiaoning’s hands were shaking. "I told you I’m no good at this..."
"Just hurry up!" Ling Yu gasped, cold sweat streaming down his forehead. "Stop talking nonsense! If I die, I’m not blaming you!"
"..." Gu Xiaoning had no choice. "O‑okay."
...
By the time the wound was stitched, both Ling Yu and Gu Xiaoning were utterly exhausted.
Gu Xiaoning cleaned up, wiped the blood off Ling Yu’s body, and fetched clean clothes for him to put on.
She didn’t ask a single question. Instead it was Ling Yu who spoke first. "You... aren’t going to ask me anything?"
"..." Gu Xiaoning paused slightly, closing the medical kit.
She shook her head. "Shall I bring up your late‑night snack? It’s probably gone cold. I can heat it up again for you."
When Ling Yu heard that, he laughed. "So you know who I am now?"
"Yeah." Gu Xiaoning nodded. "If I still didn’t know, that’d mean I have an IQ problem, wouldn’t it?"
She explained, "At this hour, for you to show up in the main building, and then casually walk into the master bedroom... and you’re clearly familiar with this place. I’m guessing you’re... the master of the Ling Family, right? Young Master Ling?"
"Heh."
Ling Yu chuckled, with a hint of genuine appreciation.
"That’s right. You’re not so stupid that it’s hopeless."
He lightly brushed his fingers over his wound. "Aren’t you scared? Don’t you want to know how I ended up like this?"
"I am." Gu Xiaoning nodded. "But I don’t want to know, because it has nothing to do with me."
"Oh?" Ling Yu was intrigued. "You’re willing to save me without knowing anything? What if I’ve been out there killing and burning things down?"
"?" Gu Xiaoning jerked her head up, staring at him in a daze. "Really?"
"Hm?" Ling Yu froze, then burst out laughing. "Hahaha... I just said you’re not that dumb, and the next second you show your silly side? You even believe that kind of line?"
Gu Xiaoning pressed her lips together. She was dumb... but why was he making fun of her? She’d just saved his life, after all.
Ling Yu shook his head, still smiling. "Listen... you’re the person I trust most right now. You must not tell anyone that I’m injured!"
"..." Gu Xiaoning nodded. "I won’t say a word. As for being the person you trust most... I really don’t deserve that."
She packed up the medical kit. "Then, Young Master Ling... I’ll go prepare your late‑night snack."
She bowed slightly, turned, and walked out.
Ling Yu watched her back, and the smile on his face vanished in an instant!
In a few days, it would be his birthday banquet.
On the day of his birthday banquet, he would officially inherit everything belonging to the Ling Family.
Hmph... Too bad there are plenty of people who aren’t willing to let him sit on that throne!
Ling Yu gently stroked the wound on his abdomen. He was going to see exactly who dared to come for his life—who thought they could block his rise to the top!
