Watching this unfold, Adam knew their dynamic was not as simple as an ordinary senior and junior, they were incredibly close, it was obvious from their eyes alone, they valued each other deeply.

"Alright, Grandpa, can we stop playing these edgy martial arts games? A spar is just a spar!" The youth sighed.

"You’re a Sect Master, how can you be so childish?"

"What do you know? Men are boys until the day they die!" The elder swatted the youth’s backside this time.

"Go on now, set off overnight, and come back soon!"

"Fine!" The youth shook his head, tucked the scroll into his robes, and flew off toward the sect’s borders.

Adam watched the scene quietly.

Suddenly, the scenery blurred, the world spinning wildly.

The once-peaceful sect was now utter devastation, rubble covered the ground, amidst shattered walls and ruined foundations, burning flames flickered in the night sky, illuminating faces contorted in panic and terror.

The air was thick with smoke and blood, disciples fled in all directions, faces etched with despair, some were covered in blood from brutal fighting, others clutched the bodies of loved ones, weeping uncontrollably.

The entire sect had plunged into chaos.

Adam frowned as he surveyed the carnage, was the sect attacked by a rival faction?

A mournful roar of battle cries echoed from afar, a horde of men in black surged into the sect like a tidal wave, wielding sharp weapons with cruel smiles, they slaughtered disciples with reckless abandon.

Wails and agonized screams echoed endlessly through the valley.

The sect’s elders stepped forward one after another, engaging the men in black in desperate, life-and-death struggle, but the invaders were vast in number and formidably strong, the defenders gradually found themselves outmatched.

Their figures flickered weakly in the firelight, every swing of their swords appeared arduous.

The elder from before was besieged by multiple attackers, he fought several experts simultaneously but ultimately fell, his aged eyes stared wide open in death.

The battle dragged on with horrific casualties, Adam wanted to intervene, but he was merely a spectator, he understood this was a fixed scene from the long river of history.

With a deafening crash, the sect’s main hall collapsed, kicking up a massive cloud of dust.

In that moment, this sect whose name Adam didn’t even know ceased to exist.

The scenery shifted once more.

Under hazy moonlight, the youth trudged through the ruined mountain forest, his gaze was resolute, but his heart was filled with dread, both hands gripped the hilt of his sword, the blade reflecting moonlight with a cold gleam.

At last, he arrived before that familiar courtyard, what lay before him defied belief, the once solemn sect gates lay collapsed in a pool of blood, the bluestone courtyard was littered with shattered weapons and torn clothing, everything was dyed a piercing crimson.

The youth’s heart sank, he sprinted into the courtyard, desperately searching for familiar figures, aside from dead silence, he found nothing.

He arrived at the grand council hall, where his grandfather, Osric, often gathered the sect members, the roof had caved in, tattered banners hung from pillars, shattered furniture and scattered scrolls littered the floor.

Then the youth spotted his grandfather’s familiar figure, he lay amidst the rubble, white hair disheveled, robes torn, his body covered in fatal wounds.

The youth felt as if struck by a sledgehammer, he fell to his knees beside his grandfather, trembling hand reaching out to touch that cold face.

"Grandpa..." His voice was hoarse and shaking, he could not accept this reality, tears burst from his eyes and dripped onto his grandfather’s hand, yet they could no longer awaken this once majestic elder.

He clenched his fists until his nails dug into flesh, he felt his heart bleeding.

He looked up at the shattered sky, eyes brimming with rage and despair, he had lost his closest relative, and he had lost his home.

Right then, a cold wind blew past, the youth seemed to hear his grandfather’s faint voice. "Rowan, you must be strong..."

He raised his head and stared into the distance, he couldn’t collapse here, he had to avenge his grandfather and wash away the sect’s grievances in blood.

Standing behind the youth’s thin silhouette, Adam felt a heavy weight in his chest, at this moment, the youth was absolutely consumed by fury.

This is straight out of a novel protagonist’s script! Blessed with extraordinary talent, only to have his sect annihilated!

Then again, it makes sense, only with this kind of festering hatred can a person be driven to continuously advance.

Just as Adam’s thoughts drifted, the scene shifted once more.

Rowan knelt alone amidst the ruins, with trembling hands, he buried his grandfather, Osric, in a patch of untouched earth that had survived the destruction.

His eyes were red, every tear fell like blood weeping from his heart, splashing against the hard soil, silently speaking of his sorrow.

After burying his grandfather, Rowan stood and gazed resolutely into the distance.

He took a deep breath and tightened his grip on his sword hilt, ready for the path of revenge, but just as he took his first step, a cold wind brought an ominous premonition.

A sinister laugh echoed from the darkness, several men in black darted out from the shadows, blocking Rowan’s path.

Their eyes were cold and cruel, their weapons gleamed with chilling light.

"Are you Rowan? The last survivor of that Sect?" one asked coldly.

Rowan did not answer, he gripped his sword, ready for battle.

"Hmph, what a stubborn guy, but do you really think you can escape?" The man laughed mockingly, then swung his weapon at Rowan.

Although overwhelmed with grief, Rowan knew this was no time for sorrow, he swung his sword to meet the attack, engaging in fierce battle, however, consumed by sorrow, his movements were sluggish, and he was quickly forced into a desperate corner.

"Hahaha, it seems your grandfather’s death hit you quite hard!" The man in black laughed triumphantly, his weapon striking toward Rowan once again.

Rowan struggled to block, but the disparity in strength was too great, his sword was knocked away, and his body was sent crashing heavily to the ground.
