Gorgeous Female Tenants
Chapter 692 I’m Doing This for Your Own Good
Just as Xu Xiangbei crawled out from under the tiger, he was pulled into Gu Xiangyi’s embrace, tears pouring from her eyes like a flood. Gu Xinyan, too, stood up directly from her wheelchair and rushed into Xu Xiangbei’s arms, tears involuntarily falling as well. Witnessing this scene, Xu Xiangbei couldn’t help but feel that with moments like this in life, what more could one wish for?
"Don’t cry, or you won’t look pretty. You’re the esteemed CEO, how can you act like a little girl?" Xu Xiangbei gently wiped the tears from Gu Xiangyi’s cheeks while softly coaxing her.
"I’ve always been a woman, and a delicate one at that. Who wants to be a cold and stern CEO?" Gu Xiangyi was upset, pounding on his chest persistently, only to be held tighter by Xu Xiangbei. He just wanted to protect the woman in front of him, even if it meant risking his own life. Meanwhile, many others were still enjoying laughter in school, or lingering in college churches and classrooms, and some idly passing time in various arcades, internet cafes, and bars.
But Gu Xiangyi, with her young shoulders, shouldered everything for a big company, navigating various social engagements and planning. She was much more mature, calm, and capable than her peers, drawing everyone in. Of course, because of this, she also gave a lot, which made Xu Xiangbei cherish her even more.
"Goddess sister, don’t cry either. You’re a big star now, a dream of countless admirers, yet you’ve cried yourself into a little kitty!" Xu Xiangbei held Gu Xinyan with his left hand and Gu Xiangyi with his right, truly enjoying the fortune of a Qi family patriarch.
"Who’s crying? I wasn’t crying at all!" Gu Xinyan’s face turned red as she spoke, breaking free from Xu Xiangbei’s embrace. But because of her leg, she almost fell and was immediately caught by the quick-handed Xu Xiangbei again.
"Your leg isn’t healed yet, what are you showing off for?" Xu Xiangbei’s voice was incredibly gentle, almost whispering to Gu Xinyan, as he blew softly into her ear. Feeling the masculine aura beside her, Gu Xinyan became even more flustered, burying herself entirely into Xu Xiangbei’s chest.
"Next time, don’t be so foolish. You’re not a superhero; how could you defeat two tigers?" Gu Xiangyi pulled herself together and squeezed out of Xu Xiangbei’s embrace, restoring her proud CEO demeanor, though her face still had a rosy tint, like a peach blossom, so charming.
"Who am I? I, Xu Xiangbei, possess unparalleled divine skills, invincible in the world. When I take action, enemies flee in terror. I’m the true dragon among men, how could I be afraid of those two kittens?" Xu Xiangbei’s face carried pride, returning to his pretentious demeanor, utterly narcissistic.
"I think you’re a bug among men. Tigers find you stinky, which is why they didn’t eat you. Otherwise, you would’ve been their meal long ago!" Gu Xinyan couldn’t stand his attitude either, teasing as she struggled hard to free herself from Xu Xiangbei’s grip, returning to her wheelchair.
"If it weren’t for you two being there, do you think I’d step in front of the tigers? I’ll only help when I have the power, not just wait there for the tiger to eat me. I say, after seeing me risk my life—no, heroically rescue beauties, aren’t I more impressive than Wu Song, defeating two tigers without a hitch? Do you feel your hearts racing, wanting to offer yourselves to me?" Xu Xiangbei’s hands still bore fresh blood, but he used his True Qi to stop bleeding. Though there was a slight pain, it was no longer a serious issue.
"Psh, you call that heroically rescuing beauties? I find you’re becoming more and more vain!" Gu Xiangyi unreservedly mocked.
"Of course, isn’t that an ability? Only confident people succeed!" Xu Xiangbei proclaimed righteously, with an expression that seemed to say he always brimmed with confidence as a super strongman.
"Confidence is necessary, but narcissism is not!"
Xu Xiangbei, having survived a perilous encounter, joked with the two Gu sisters, while contemplating checking his injuries.
"My tiger!" Meng Guangtian wailed, with two veterinarians behind him examining the unconscious tiger. The examination results were not promising; the tiger that fought fiercely with Xu Xiangbei suffered serious internal injuries and might not survive more than a year or two.
"How dare you talk, weren’t you the one who shot at Xu Xiangbei? Why else would he get injured?" Meng Guangtian became even angrier when the tiger was mentioned, causing Gu Xiangyi to explode. If Xu Xiangbei had been hit, his life would have been at serious risk.
"Why, isn’t he standing here perfectly fine? It’s my tiger that’s badly beaten now; how should we settle this? Moreover, regardless of who you are, hitting me without cause is intentional injury. If you don’t give me an explanation today, don’t think about leaving the zoo!" Meng Guangtian shouted, ignoring everything else.
"Were you the one who shot at me just now?" Xu Xiangbei stared straight at him, emanating a killing aura. Anyone who nearly died from a sneak attack wouldn’t let it go easily.
"What do you want to do?" Meng Guangtian was greatly intimidated by Xu Xiangbei. A person who could kill a tiger, and not just one, but two highly powerful northeastern tigers, was indeed more formidable than Wu Song.
"I’m asking, were you the one who shot at me?" Xu Xiangbei’s entire aura changed drastically, like a tiger descending the mountain, with his blood rushing so fiercely that it overwhelmed those nearby.
"So what if it was me? I was just trying to shoot the tiger with a tranquilizer gun to prevent it from hurting people!" Meng Guangtian took several steps back, steeled himself, and spoke courageously, as if he had acted to save lives.
"Shameless! You dare claim it was to save people. Who was it that just said human life isn’t worth as much as a tiger?" Gu Xiangyi had never seen such brazen shamelessness, her beautiful eyes twisted in anger.
"Oh my, there’s such a heartless zookeeper!"
"Right, I better not visit this zoo again, lest I get bitten by a tiger one day and die for nothing!"
"Human life is just food for tigers in some people’s eyes!"
The murmurs around grew louder, causing many to feel suffocated by the pressure of public opinion. If this situation continued, Meng Guangtian knew the zoo’s reputation would be entirely ruined, with few daring to visit, causing cold sweat to bead on his forehead as he hurriedly intervened.
"Don’t listen to the young lady’s nonsense, she’s lying. How could I say something like that? The tranquilizer gun was to sedate the tiger and prevent harm. Look at the other tiger over there; it worked there. Otherwise, who knows how many would’ve been harmed if it ran over. Young man, I did it for your own good, afraid you’d get hurt by the tiger, so I shot. Now how could this be blamed on me? Moreover, without the tranquilizer gun, you might be dead now!" Meng Guangtian quickly changed his stance, crafting a story that painted him as a great benefactor.
"Then why did the tranquilizer dart shoot at me, causing me injury?" Xu Xiangbei was tempted to kick him, but he wanted Meng Guangming to face consequences and punishment. The bystanders were many, and it would create a bad image.
He wanted this zoo owner to pay for his evil deeds, to receive the appropriate punishment. If it weren’t for Xu Xiangbei’s skills, not only he, but both Gu sisters might have perished. Clearly, this was the zoo’s responsibility, yet the owner showed no remorse or accountability, a bad apple, a disgrace among people.
"People make mistakes, just like horses can slip. Didn’t it happen to miss by accident? Anyway, aren’t you unhurt? Right?" Meng Guangtian feigned reasonableness, pretending that’s genuinely how he felt, causing Gu Xiangyi to grit her teeth.
"Then why couldn’t you guarantee a hit? Why shoot if a miss might mean my death?" Xu Xiangbei shot back unreservedly, arguing his case.
"Who doesn’t make mistakes? Nothing is guaranteed 100%. There are countless accidents on the road daily, yet people still drive, don’t they? And some even choke to death on water; should they stop drinking?" Meng Guangtian countered with his crooked logic, feigning righteousness.
"Is that the same? Didn’t you see I was gaining the upper hand? That tiger was almost done. Why rush to act?" Xu Xiangbei’s voice grew louder, filled with indignation.
"I was worried about you, afraid of what might happen if you lost!" Meng Guangtian, with nothing else to say, pretended to show concern for Xu Xiangbei.
"Worried about me? When the tiger pinned me down, you didn’t pull me up. Now you’ve brought vets, not doctors. Seeing me hurt, you check the tiger, not me. Do you have any sense of responsibility? Is this how a director behaves? Letting the tiger loose was your zoo’s fault, and now, instead of caring for the injured person, your first concern is that tiger. And you expect me to believe you care about me? Who would buy that?" Xu Xiangbei fired back, not holding back.
