Chapter 876: Chapter 606: Life Needs a Sense of Ritual

All morning long...

Huang Jun was immersed in the kitchen, tirelessly busy organizing all sorts of delicious desserts for tonight’s birthday party.

He first set to work on the birthday cake and a variety of delicate, cute sweets, hoping to complete these tasks early in order to calmly prepare the dinner party in the afternoon.

After all, some desserts needed to be refrigerated in advance to achieve the best taste.

Additionally, there was a lavish feast waiting for him to prepare in the afternoon, making time especially precious for him, requiring efficient work to seize every moment.

Meanwhile, Qingqing and Weiwei, the two sisters, sat cross-legged on the large play mat in the living room, busy building their dream castle with a pile of colorful blocks.

Their beloved pets—Meat Bun and Pumpkin Cake—lay quietly beside them, enjoying the peace and happiness.

Nonetheless...

Today they were particularly excited, their little behinds unable to sit still on the carpet, always wanting to run to the kitchen.

And sure enough.

Every ten minutes or so...

The two little ones seemed to have agreed, running to the kitchen door with their little short legs, then tiptoeing like little detectives, peeking inside one after another.

Weiwei couldn’t restrain her curiosity, blinking her bright eyes and pretending to be very interested, asking, "Daddy, what have you been busy with in the kitchen?"

"Daddy’s making a birthday cake for you guys, but it’s just been baked..." Huang Jun replied with a smile, as he put on oven mitts, opened the oven door, and carefully took out the freshly baked cake base.

"Oh~"

Weiwei exclaimed, although she wasn’t very interested in the specifics of the cake-making process, the thought of soon tasting the delicious birthday cake made her lick her lips, her face brimming with anticipation.

Qingqing was also infected by this anticipation, involuntarily sticking out her pink little tongue to lick her lips, while looking at Huang Jun’s busy figure with a heartwarming gaze, thoughtfully asking, "Daddy, do you need my help?"

"No need, no need, you guys go play! Daddy can manage by himself!" Huang Jun placed the freshly baked cake base on the stove, smiled at them, and gently declined Qingqing’s kind offer.

"Oh, alright!"

Despite a little disappointment in her heart, Qingqing still respected Daddy’s decision and nodded.

She didn’t forget to add at the end: "Daddy, if you need help, just call Qingqing anytime."

"Okay!"

Huang Jun nodded at her, then turned to the fridge to get the whipped cream and other ingredients.

"Daddy, can my sister and I watch you make the cake?" Weiwei, though not overly interested in cake-making, still wanted to see the finished birthday cake immediately.

"Better not!"

Huang Jun smiled gently and shook his head: "Otherwise, there will be no surprise later!"

"That’s true..."

Weiwei thought about it and realized Daddy had a point, so she stopped insisting.

Then, she curiously asked, "Daddy, when are Hanhan and the others coming?"

"Yeah, yeah, Daddy, when are they coming?"

Qingqing also asked eagerly, "And Miss Yang and the others?"

Huang Jun poured the whipped cream into the cleaned and dried automatic egg beater, plugged in the power, and replied, "Hanhan and the others will come in the afternoon, probably after lunch or after they finish their nap, their parents will drive them over. It’s still early! As for Miss Yang and the others, they should arrive around the same time, no later than 5 o’clock. They’ll definitely be here. Just be patient and wait..."

"Is that so? I really want to play with them."

Weiwei blinked and pointed to Pumpkin Cake, who was napping on the play mat in the living room: "Daddy, look, my Pumpkin Cake is also waiting! I told Pumpkin Cake that many of my good friends would come to play with it today!"

"That’s right, Daddy."

Qingqing echoed: "I told my Meat Bun that many friends from kindergarten would come to play with it too!

Huang Jun had clear "rules" for the Orange family, which were they were not allowed to step into the kitchen or dining room.

These two places were too important to him and must be kept absolutely clean.

So, whenever the Orange family smelled the food and were running near the dining room, Huang Jun would gently but firmly carry them back.

To keep the Orange family away from these areas, Huang Jun specifically bought citrus-scented fresheners to spray at the entrances of the kitchen and dining room.

The cats didn’t like this smell, so although the Orange family used to love gathering here, now they smell it and stay far away, making the kitchen and dining room a "forbidden zone" for them.

"Seems like you’re all really looking forward to playing with Hanhan and the other kids..."

Huang Jun realized, his face glowing with a warm smile, then asked, "Have you thoughtfully considered how you plan to host your little friends when they come to the birthday party this afternoon? Besides letting them play with our pets Meat Bun and Pumpkin Cake, have you prepared any special programs or activities?"

"Huh? Do we need special programs or activities?"

The two little ones looked surprised, but quickly turned to excited expressions and said in unison: "Then let’s think about it now..."
