Grand Return System
Chapter 443: The Crown Prince’s Warning
The Crown Prince’s Warning
Felberta’s golden eyes narrowed slightly.
She studied Leon carefully.
His long black hair fell to his shoulders.
His midnight robes were decorated with thin amethyst embroidery.
His purple eyes were calm.
There was no need for him to deliberately display his aura.
He simply stood there.
Yet the surrounding atmosphere naturally seemed to revolve around him.
Felberta’s expression gradually became more serious.
She did not expect such a talented person to appear in the Fallen Leaf Domain.
He had actually reached the pinnacle Realm at such a young age.
That alone was astonishing.
But what truly shocked her was the potential behind it.
If he was given more time, wouldn’t he be able to become a Martial Sovereign and even have a chance of becoming a Martial Emperor Realm expert?
The thought flashed through her mind.
Felberta’s breathing paused for a moment.
"Hiss..."
She took a deep breath.
The sound was barely audible.
Yet it revealed just how shaken she was.
A young pinnacle expert was already frightening.
A young pinnacle expert with such terrifying potential was something else entirely.
People like this were rare even throughout the great Powerful Sects.
They were destined to stand at the peak of the cultivation world.
And Leon was still so young.
Felberta’s eyes became complicated.
There was curiosity in them.
There was also caution.
More importantly, there was recognition.
She understood that someone like Leon could not be treated casually.
The attendant standing behind her hesitated for a moment.
He glanced toward Leon.
Then he carefully lowered his voice.
"Pavilion Master, should we go and make contact? It might be helpful for us to investigate the Strange Origin."
His suggestion was cautious.
He clearly understood the value of forming a relationship with someone like Leon.
If they could establish even a small connection with him, perhaps their investigation into the Strange Origin would become much easier.
Felberta did not answer immediately.
Her gaze remained on Leon.
The evening breeze passed through the street.
Her long silver hair fluttered behind her.
After a moment, she slowly raised her hand.
Then she waved it.
"There’s no need. Now is not the time. I have a feeling that there will definitely be another chance in the future. Let’s go..."
Her tone was calm.
She was not rejecting the idea permanently.
Quite the opposite.
Felberta understood that forcing a meeting now would be foolish.
Leon was surrounded by people.
The situation was tense.
James and the General of Ashford City were already trapped in the middle of a political storm.
If she approached at this moment, it could easily attract unnecessary attention.
There would be another opportunity.
She believed that.
With that, she turned around.
Her red dress moved lightly behind her as she walked away.
The silver strands of her hair shimmered beneath the evening light.
Her figure gradually disappeared into the distance.
At the end of the street, she vanished from sight.
No one noticed her departure.
The attention of everyone present remained focused on Leon and Kai.
At this moment, Kai was very angry.
His expression had remained cold ever since he arrived.
But now, the disappointment in his eyes had become even heavier.
He looked at the General of Ashford City, who was still kneeling and apologizing repeatedly.
For a moment, he could not bear it in his heart.
The man had made a mistake today.
That much was undeniable.
He had stood on the wrong side.
He had followed James into a confrontation he should never have entered.
But Kai also remembered the man’s history.
The General of Ashford City had guarded the borders for many years.
He had endured countless hardships.
He had protected the Drake Empire’s territory.
Even if he had not made some extraordinary contribution, his years of service could not simply be erased.
Moreover, he was the general.
His position was not something that could be replaced overnight.
If he was removed now, who would fill the vacancy?
The border could not simply be left without a commander.
Kai slowly inhaled.
The anger in his chest settled slightly.
He knew he had to distinguish between the crime and the person.
The general had been foolish today.
But foolishness was not necessarily deserving of death.
After all, the situation had not yet reached that point.
Kai looked down at him.
His expression remained stern.
Then he took a deep breath.
His voice carried the authority of the Crown Prince.
"General, I hope you understand that all your rights of power were given to you by my mother and your empress of Drake Empire."
Kai’s voice was calm.
Too calm.
The street had fallen into an uncomfortable silence. The soldiers surrounding the area stood rigidly with their weapons lowered, none of them daring to make the slightest unnecessary movement.
Even the wind seemed to have quieted.
General kept his head lowered.
He could feel the weight behind every word Kai had spoken.
There was no anger in that voice anymore.
That was what frightened him most.
Anger could be endured.
Cold disappointment from the royal family was another matter entirely.
Kai stared at him for several breaths before continuing.
"You only have one master, and that is my Imperial Mother, not some prince or member of the Royal Family."
His words struck General like a heavy hammer.
Kai’s expression remained indifferent.
"I can pretend that I didn’t see anything today. If there’s a next time, you know the consequences."
The warning was unmistakable.
There would not be another chance.
As soon as these words were spoken, General’s face turned ashen.
His heart seemed to sink into complete silence.
Kai had not merely reprimanded him.
He had reminded him of where he stood.
A general could command soldiers.
A general could possess authority.
A general could even hold the power to shake an entire region.
But none of that power belonged to him.
It had been granted.
And what was granted could be taken away.
General’s fingers slowly tightened inside his sleeves.
Kai’s words clearly told him to remember his identity.
As a general, he had casually mobilized the army to support James without receiving an order from the Empress.
Then who exactly was he serving?
His Empress?
Or Lord James?
The answer was painfully obvious.
"I understand."
