Chapter 493: The Girl With Ten Thousand Pounds of Strength
The Girl With Ten Thousand Pounds of Strength
Selena and Rias exchanged a quick glance.
For a moment, neither of them said anything.
Then both covered their mouths and quietly burst into laughter.
Rias tilted her head, her crimson eyes gleaming with amusement. There was something almost irresistible about the young woman’s stubborn expression.
She stepped closer.
Then, without any hesitation, Rias reached out and gently poked the girl’s cheek.
"So cute." Her smile widened. "Which family are you from?"
Only then did the young woman seem to notice that two stunning women were standing right in front of her.
She froze.
Her eyes flicked from Rias to Selena.
She seemed completely caught off guard.
For a brief moment, she even forgot that Leon was still holding her.
Then her face reddened.
She immediately twisted around and glared at him.
"Hey! Let me go!"
She struggled again.
"I’m an adult!"
Her voice rose with every word.
"I’m eighteen years old!"
She said it with such pride that one would think announcing her age was enough to make everyone around her immediately treat her with respect.
Leon raised an eyebrow.
"Eighteen?"
He looked at her again.
Then he looked at Selena and Rias.
Neither woman said anything.
But the faint amusement in their eyes told him they were thinking the same thing.
Eighteen was certainly an adult.
But judging by the way this girl behaved, she had clearly spent very little time around people who could actually handle her temper.
The young woman noticed Leon’s expression.
Her cheeks puffed up.
"What’s that look for?"
Leon remained silent.
That only made her more annoyed.
She glared at him again.
"Bad guy, what do you want?"
Her voice suddenly became serious.
She straightened herself as much as she could while still being held.
"Listen carefully. Don’t provoke me."
She raised her chin.
"I’m very strong."
There was complete confidence in her voice.
"I’m already invincible among my peers."
She paused for effect.
Then she added proudly, "No one in the entire town can defeat me."
Selena’s lips twitched.
Rias had to bite the inside of her cheek to keep from laughing again.
The young woman noticed neither reaction.
She was far too busy defending her reputation.
Suddenly, she seemed to remember something.
Her eyes brightened.
She lifted one hand and pointed toward the road.
The boys who had been causing trouble earlier had already disappeared into the distance.
"Do you see those brats?"
She pointed after them with great confidence.
"I already beat them into submission."
A proud grin spread across her face.
She looked at Leon as if she had just revealed some incredible secret.
"Hehe."
She puffed out her chest.
"I’m powerful, right?"
Leon stared at her for a moment.
The corner of his mouth twitched.
Again.
This girl really had no idea how she sounded.
She talked about those boys as if they were nothing more than troublesome children.
Yet, from what Leon had seen, some of them were already seventeen or eighteen.
And she had chased them halfway down the street without the slightest hesitation.
Not only that, she had done it with such confidence that Leon almost wondered whether she had ever considered the possibility of losing.
This young woman was definitely not ordinary.
But the strangest part was how naturally she carried herself.
She genuinely seemed to believe that being invincible among her peers was simply normal.
Leon looked at her with a mixture of amusement and curiosity.
Who had taught her something like that?
The young woman seemed completely pleased with herself.
She clenched both fists and raised them slightly, proudly showing off her strength.
Her chin lifted.
Her chest puffed out a little more.
She looked as if she had just accomplished some earth-shattering feat.
Leon couldn’t help but find her reaction amusing.
He shook his head slightly before asking,
"Little guy, who taught you to become invincible among your peers?"
The young woman blinked.
For a moment, she simply stared at Leon.
There was a faint look of confusion in her eyes, as if she genuinely didn’t understand why he was asking such an obvious question.
Then her expression slowly became serious.
She answered without the slightest hesitation.
"The old Hermit taught me."
Leon raised an eyebrow.
Before he could say anything, she continued.
"He told me that as long as I defeated all the children in the town, I would become invincible among my peers."
She spoke with complete confidence.
There wasn’t even a hint of doubt in her voice.
It was as though she were explaining something so simple that anyone should have understood it immediately.
She even nodded to herself, apparently satisfied with her own reasoning.
"Once I defeat everyone, they’ll all be afraid of me in the future."
A proud smile appeared on her face.
Then she suddenly grinned.
"Hehe..."
Leon fell silent.
He honestly didn’t know what to say.
The explanation...
Wasn’t completely wrong.
At least, not technically.
If every person around her age in the entire town had already been defeated by her, then from her point of view, she really was invincible among her peers.
The logic was strange.
Very strange.
And yet, somehow, Leon couldn’t find any obvious flaw in it.
The more he thought about it, the more it actually seemed to make sense.
Leon looked at her again.
This time, he studied her more carefully.
Her clothes were dirty and worn from what looked like days of hardship. Dust covered the fabric, and several places were stained badly enough that it was difficult to tell what the original color had been.
Her long blonde hair was a complete mess.
Strands hung loosely around her face, with a few pieces sticking out in every direction.
There was still dust clinging to her cheeks.
At first glance, she looked less like someone who had just won a fight and more like a refugee who had somehow stumbled into the middle of a disaster.
But her expression didn’t match her appearance at all.
There was no sadness in her eyes.
No self-pity.
No bitterness.
She wasn’t even particularly worried about her current situation.
In fact...
She looked happy.
Leon stared at her for a moment longer.
That was probably the strangest thing about her.
She had almost nothing.
Her clothes were filthy.
Her appearance was a mess.
She had clearly been through quite a bit.
And yet she could still laugh so freely.
There was something strangely refreshing about it.
Most people would have complained endlessly if they were placed in her situation.
She, on the other hand, seemed perfectly capable of finding something amusing in the middle of all that chaos.
Leon silently watched her for several moments.
Then something in his expression changed.
The faint amusement disappeared from his eyes.
He focused his senses.
At first, he simply observed her physical condition.
Then he went deeper.
He carefully examined the strength hidden beneath her movements.
The moment he truly sensed it, Leon’s eyes narrowed.
There was something strange about her body.
Something that simply shouldn’t have been possible for an ordinary person.
Leon’s expression slowly turned serious.
His eyes narrowed as he looked at her again.
"Natural divine strength?"
The words slipped from his mouth almost instinctively.
The young woman tilted her head in confusion.
She clearly had no idea what he was talking about.
She had already reached the age when most people would begin their journey into Cultivation. Yet, strangely enough, she had never taken that first step.
She had never cultivated Mana.
She had never practiced a proper Cultivation Technique.
Her body had never been tempered by Mana.
And yet...
She was strong.
Far stronger than she had any right to be.
Leon could feel the sheer physical power hidden beneath her seemingly ordinary appearance.
It wasn’t the result of cultivation.
It wasn’t something she had painstakingly trained for years to achieve.
It was simply there.
A natural strength buried deep within her body.
Roughly ten thousand pounds.
Ten thousand pounds of pure physical strength.
Leon stared at her for several seconds.
Even he found it difficult to believe.
"Fuck..."
The word escaped him under his breath.
Now he finally understood.
No wonder she had been bold enough to claim that she was invincible among her peers.
She wasn’t boasting without reason.
At her age, most people couldn’t even begin serious cultivation.
Their bodies and bones were still developing. They needed time to strengthen themselves before they could withstand the demands of proper Mana cultivation.
But this girl was different.
She didn’t need Mana to make her strong.
Her body itself was already terrifying.
Before she had even taken her first step onto the path of cultivation, she already possessed strength that most people would spend years training to achieve.
Leon looked at her again.
This time, there was a faint trace of disbelief in his eyes.
Just what kind of monster was she?
She had been born with an extraordinary physical foundation. That much was obvious now.
Even without Mana, her raw physical strength was already frightening.
With a body like that, it would have been strange if she hadn’t stood at the top among the ordinary youths of Greyhaven City.
Leon studied her for another moment.
Then, a faint smile tugged at the corner of his lips.
He raised an eyebrow.
"Where do you practice your skills every day?"
The young woman looked at him strangely.
For a moment, she seemed genuinely confused by the question.
"Why?"
"Nothing." Leon shrugged casually. "I was just curious."
Her eyes narrowed slightly.
The suspicion returned almost immediately.
"Curious about what?"
Leon didn’t bother beating around the bush.
"Your strength."
The young woman stared at him for several seconds.
The casual expression on her face slowly faded.
"What about it?"
Leon studied her for a moment.
"You haven’t cultivated, have you?"
Her blue eyes narrowed slightly.
"You can tell?"
Leon didn’t answer right away.
He had sensed it the moment he met her.
There was no trace of Mana flowing through her body. No cultivated energy. No deliberate strengthening technique.
And yet, her physical strength was astonishing.
Even without using Mana, her body possessed roughly ten thousand pounds of raw strength.
Ten thousand pounds.
For someone who had never cultivated, that was far beyond normal.
Leon looked at her again.
This time, he examined her more carefully.
"Your physical foundation is very good."
The young woman lowered her eyes.
She looked down at her hands.
Slowly, she turned them over, examining her palms and fingers as though she were seeing them from a different perspective.
"I’m just stronger than most people."
Her tone was completely matter-of-fact.
There was no pride in her voice.
No attempt to boast.
She simply stated what she knew to be true.
Back in Greyhaven City, plenty of boys had tried to provoke her.
Most of them had regretted it.
Whenever someone came looking for trouble, she beat them.
If they returned with more people, she beat them again.
After a while, the rumors spread.
People stopped bothering her.
The boys who had once been eager to show off in front of her now avoided her whenever possible.
She had never considered herself a genius.
She had never wondered whether her strength was extraordinary.
To her, things were much simpler than that.
If someone caused trouble, beat them.
If they came back, beat them again.
Eventually, they would learn.
Leon watched her quietly.
His interest in her had grown.
There was something strange about this young woman.
It wasn’t just her physical strength.
It was the way she thought.
She had grown up without proper guidance. She had survived mostly by relying on herself.
And somehow, despite everything, she had managed to hold on to something strangely pure.
The world had taught her how to fight.
It had taught her that people could be cruel.
It had taught her not to trust everyone.
Yet it hadn’t completely taken away the innocent part of her heart.
There was still something almost childlike in the simplicity of her thinking.
Not childish.
Just uncomplicated.
She didn’t search for complicated reasons when a simple answer was enough.
Leon couldn’t help but smile faintly.
He looked at her for another moment before finally asking,
"What’s your name?"
