Great Dao Lord through Deducing Myriad Arts
Chapter 559 - 374: Obtaining the Peerless Cultivation Technique: Devouring Spirit True Understanding!
At the mention of Yan Shu, the expression on Zero's face became incredibly complex.
It was a mixture of fear, apprehension, and even a hint of admiration.
"Yan Shu… That man is terrifying," Zero said slowly.
"When the masters first descended, nearly all of this world's powerful natives were slaughtered. But he, of all people, managed to kill one of the masters in turn. Then he stole the ship that master had used to descend here and escaped into the starry expanse."
'The starry expanse?'
A thought stirred in Wu Liangchen's mind. "So, Yan Shu is still alive?"
Zero shook his head. "That, I don't know. The masters sent pursuers, but no word ever came back. The cosmos is vast. No one knows where he went, or whether he's dead or alive now."
"Afterward, the masters ordered all information regarding Yan Shu to be destroyed and hidden, strictly forbidding anyone from even discussing him."
At this, Zero suddenly smiled—an unsettlingly bizarre smile.
"The masters say that in a few more decades, the Spiritual Qi in this world will be completely exhausted. At that point, they will abandon this place and find new hunting grounds. And what do you think will become of us natives then? Can you even imagine?"
Wu Liangchen didn't answer, but his gaze had turned impossibly cold.
"Did you think destroying the data center and inciting a popular rebellion would change anything?" Zero shook his head. "No, you can't change a thing. A world without Spiritual Qi is doomed to wither and die."
"So what?" Wu Liangchen said coldly. "At least before that happens, I can deal with a watchdog like you."
Zero smiled again, his expression full of disdain and arrogance.
"I admit you're strong, but you're still a far cry from me. Not only do I have Spiritual Qi, but I've also mastered some of the techniques gifted to me by the masters."
As he spoke, a wisp of blue light appeared in his palm before quickly enveloping his entire body.
"Now, allow me to show you what true power is!"
The wisp of blue light swirling around Zero was at first like a thin mist, ethereal and harmless. However, as his voice fell, the blue light suddenly blazed, igniting like a layer of azure flame across the surface of his body!
An indescribably terrifying pressure emanated from Zero, and the very air in the study seemed to freeze solid.
"Do you feel it? This is Spiritual Qi, the most precious resource in the world." Zero chuckled, his voice laced with rapture. "And you are just a pitiful worm, unnourished by its power."
Before his voice had even faded, Zero's figure vanished from his spot.
The next instant, he appeared before Wu Liangchen and threw a punch!
The punch lacked any earth-shattering fanfare, but it carried an indescribable sense of pressure. Before the fist even arrived, the air around Wu Liangchen was compressed to its limit, letting out a piercing shriek.
'So fast!'
Wu Liangchen's pupils contracted violently. He retreated explosively, crossing his arms to protect his chest.
THUD!
A dull impact sounded as an overwhelming and irresistible force surged into Wu Liangchen. A tearing pain instantly shot through his arms. His entire body, as if struck by a speeding train, slammed violently against the alloy wall behind him, producing a massive crash.
A trickle of blood ran from the corner of his mouth. Wu Liangchen felt as if the bones in his arms were about to shatter, and his internal organs churned like a tempestuous sea.
'So this is the power of Spiritual Qi?'
"Heh heh, how does it taste?" Zero's figure reappeared by the desk as if he had never moved, a mocking expression on his face.
"A mortal body is fragile, after all. In the face of true power, the martial arts you pride yourselves on are nothing more than child's play."
Wu Liangchen wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and slowly got back to his feet.
He wasn't provoked by Zero's words. Instead, he observed his opponent with even greater calm.
"What? Did I knock you stupid?" Seeing Wu Liangchen's silence, Zero's smile widened. "Give up. You can't possibly defeat me. In this place, I am a god!"
Before his voice had faded, Zero moved again.
This time, he condensed several azure blades of light at his fingertips. Like a viper's fangs, they tore through the air, shooting toward Wu Liangchen from all directions!
The blades followed erratic trajectories from treacherous angles, sealing off all of Wu Liangchen's escape routes.
With a flick of his wrist, Wu Liangchen sent a spray of steel balls whistling through the air, intercepting the blades of light.
But at the same time, Zero flickered and reappeared in front of Wu Liangchen, throwing another punch.
Wu Liangchen took a deep breath, circulating his Qi and Blood to their absolute limit. The muscles all over his body bulged, and green veins popped out as he met the attack with a punch of his own!
BOOM!
The two fists collided brazenly in mid-air. This time, it was not a muffled impact but a tremendous boom, like the striking of a great bell.
A terrifying shockwave exploded outward from the point of impact.
But in the next moment, the bones in Wu Liangchen's arm groaned under the strain, and he was sent flying back.
"An ant trying to shake a tree! You don't know your own limits!"
Zero sneered, his attacks growing even more ferocious. Every punch and kick was wreathed in that strange blue energy; not only was the force immense, but the angles were treacherous and impossible to defend against.
Wu Liangchen was locked in the most desperate battle of his life. His 'Imperishable Body of the Visionary God' was formidable, but even it began to sustain injuries in the face of this incomprehensible power. Fine cuts split open across his body, and blood seeped out, soon dyeing him into a man of red.
Yet even in this desperate situation, Wu Liangchen's gaze remained as calm as ever, without a trace of panic. Through every clash and evasion, he was keenly observing Zero.
