Chapter 575: Chapter 381: Purging Qing Province, Obstinately Unrepentant (Part 2)
A cold smile touched Wu Liangchen’s lips.
’It seems some people just won’t give up. No matter how much blood flows in Zhongjing, as long as it doesn’t reach their own feet, they’ll never learn what it means to be afraid.’
He remained seated cross-legged with his eyes closed, his expression unchanging, as if completely unaware of the danger outside.
The moon was dark and the wind was high—a perfect night for murder and mayhem.
A dozen or so shadowy figures slipped into the manor like ghosts. They avoided all sentries, both seen and unseen, moving with swift, silent precision. The leader gave a hand signal, and the group fanned out, closing in on Wu Liangchen’s bedroom.
They crept soundlessly to the bedroom window, just as they were about to smash through it.
Inside the bedroom, the cross-legged Wu Liangchen’s eyes snapped open. There was no killing intent in his gaze, only a vast indifference.
He didn’t even get up, merely waving a hand casually.
"SWISH SWISH SWISH—!"
Dozens of steel balls transformed into brilliant silver streaks, shooting out from impossible angles with a terrifying force that could pierce through anything!
The assassins who had just crept in had no time to react. They felt a sudden coldness between their brows before their bodies fell stiffly to the ground. A small, bloody hole had appeared in the center of each of their foreheads, from which fresh blood gushed.
The entire exchange, swift as a hawk striking a rabbit, was over in an instant!
Only the leader, a Martial Artist who had attained Divine Awareness, possessed intuition far superior to his comrades’. At the instant the steel ball neared, he jerked his head aside, narrowly avoiding a fatal blow to his forehead.
But the steel ball still grazed his cheek, leaving behind a gash so deep the bone was visible. The searing pain forced a grunt from his lips.
Before he could recover from this sudden turn of events, an invisible pressure, as heavy as a mountain, descended upon him, pinning him to the spot and rendering him immobile!
Wu Liangchen slowly opened his eyes, his gaze indifferent. He was still seated, but he extended a hand and made a grasping motion at the lead assassin.
"Urk!" The assassin felt as if an invisible iron vice had clamped around his neck. His feet left the ground, and his body floated uncontrollably toward Wu Liangchen.
His face was a mask of utter terror and disbelief. ’How could he have instantly killed my comrades and captured me without even getting up or making any other moves?!’ He couldn’t fathom it.
Wu Liangchen rose and walked slowly to the assassin, who was suspended in mid-air by an unseen force, his face turning purple from suffocation. In a flat tone, he asked, "Who sent you?"
A ferocious glint flashed in the assassin’s eyes. He tried to bite down on the poison capsule hidden in his tooth.
A cold smirk appeared on Wu Liangchen’s lips. He flicked a finger, and a bolt of energy shot into the assassin’s mouth. With a CRACK, all the assassin’s teeth were shattered.
"Mmph... mmph..." The assassin let out a pained whimper, his gaze toward Wu Liangchen now filled with nothing but terror.
"Speak. Or I’ll let you experience a fate worse than death." Wu Liangchen’s voice was still calm, yet it carried a chilling coldness that made one’s blood run cold.
Faced with absolute power and the threat of death, the assassin’s psychological defenses quickly crumbled. Trembling, he divulged the names of the families who had masterminded the attack.
Having gotten the answer he wanted, Wu Liangchen waved his hand dismissively. The assassin collapsed to the ground like a pile of mud, all signs of life gone.
Without a single glance at the corpse on the floor, Wu Liangchen’s gaze turned to the dark night sky outside. A cold glint flashed in his eyes. He took a step, and his figure vanished from the quiet room like a phantom. The next moment, he appeared high above the manor, transforming into a streak of light that sped toward the location where the families on the list were gathered.
In the eastern part of Qing Province City, inside a sprawling, luxurious mansion, the lights were bright, and wine cups clinked.
The patriarchs of the families involved in the assassination attempt, along with some of their core members, were all gathered together, laughing and exchanging toasts.
"Everyone, after tonight, the skies of Qing Province will change." At the head of the table, a sinister-looking old man in a brocade robe raised his cup with a smile. He was the mastermind of this plot, the Patriarch of the newly risen Qian family, who had emerged after the fall of the Sun family.
"Elder Qian is right. That Wu Liangchen is just some upstart from out of town. Relying on a bit of brute force, he thinks he can lord it over us? What a pipe dream!"
"By dawn tomorrow, he’ll be a dead man. Then, Qing Province will be our Qing Province again!"
In the crowd, a man with sharp features and a thuggish look in his eyes also raised his cup in agreement. "Patriarch Qian is wise! That kid made enemies of us back in Black Stone Town, and today is the day we settle the score! My brothers are all seasoned killers who don’t even blink!"
This was none other than the leader of the so-called "resistance army" that had ambushed Wu Liangchen in Black Stone Town. Having somehow managed to survive until now, he had even wormed his way into the circle of Qing Province’s elite.
Everyone raised their cups and drank heartily, their faces beaming with triumphant smiles, as if they could already see the beautiful scene of Wu Liangchen’s death and them carving up the spoils.
Just then—
"BANG!"
The heavy oak doors of the banquet hall exploded inward without warning, scattering into countless splinters!
The boisterous banquet hall fell suddenly silent.
Everyone was stunned by the sudden turn of events, staring in astonishment at the doorway.
Through the swirling dust, a tall, slender figure slowly walked in.
The newcomer, dressed in black with a calm expression, was none other than Wu Liangchen—the very person they had just been discussing how to dismember.
Wu Liangchen’s calm gaze swept over the ashen-faced crowd in the hall. He then strolled to a table laden with fine food, casually picked up a glass goblet full of fine wine, swirled it gently, and brought it to his nose to take a sniff.
"Good wine," he praised before downing it in one gulp. Then he sighed.
"I just wanted all of you to cooperate and live your lives in peace. Why... did you have to force me to kill?"
The instant the words left his mouth, the goblet in his hand slipped, fell to the floor with a SMASH, and shattered into pieces!
The sharp shattering sound was like a signal.
"Get him! There are so many of us, are we really afraid of one person?!" The resistance army leader was the first to react. He roared, trying to rally the others, though he was just putting on a brave front.
However, even as the roar left his lips, his body was already subtly shifting backward, clearly intending to escape in the chaos.
"Noisy."
Wu Liangchen didn’t even glance at him, merely uttering a single word.
An invisible wave of Spiritual Power instantly enveloped the man.
"Ah!"
The man felt an irresistible force lift him into the air. No matter how much he struggled, he couldn’t break free.
Then, like a baby chick seized by an invisible giant hand, he flew terrified toward Wu Liangchen.
"Spar—"
Before he could get the last word out, an invisible force snapped his neck.
"CRACK!"
A soft crack of bone was heard.
The man’s head slumped at a bizarre angle, his eyes still holding a trace of ultimate terror and unwillingness to die.
Blood blossomed like grotesque flowers on the polished floor.
The hall was deathly silent.
"GULP..."
It’s unclear who was the first to swallow loudly, but it was immediately followed by the chattering of teeth from all around.
A foul stench began to fill the air.
These dignitaries, who were normally so high and mighty, ordering others around with a flick of their chin, now stared at the twitching corpse at their feet. Then they looked at the young man who was smiling as if he had just crushed an ant. They finally understood the meaning of true fear.
Many of them went weak at the knees and collapsed to the floor. Some had even soiled themselves completely, a pathetic sight to behold.
The entire banquet hall was filled with nothing but heavy panting and suppressed sobs.
Wu Liangchen’s gaze slowly swept over these ashen-faced VIPs. The smile on his lips didn’t waver, but to them, it was more terrifying than that of a demon.
Wu Liangchen clapped his hands lightly and sighed. "Don’t be nervous. It’s normal to feel dizzy. It’ll be over soon. Very soon."
