Great, It's the Pervy Neighbor. We're Doomed
Chapter 874: Don’t Force Me!!!
After suppressing the urge to lash out, he raised his head again and looked around.
There was someone in front of him, behind him, and on both sides.
None of them looked easy to mess with.
Today, he truly couldn't escape even if he sprouted wings...
Especially since the Danger Warning in his mind was ringing louder and more frequently than ever before.
He felt like his head was about to explode!!!
"Can we discuss something? What you all did today, I'll just pretend I never saw it. How about that?"
Jiang Ran was desperate.
So desperate that he could only blurt out a peace offering he himself knew was impossible.
"Are you dreaming? Jiang Ran?"
It was the Monkey King Mask Man who answered him.
"You're the most valuable one of everyone here! Even if we let every single other person go, there's no way we'd let you go!"
The man in his thirties, disguised as the White Ghost-face Mask Person, also sneered repeatedly:
"Jiang Ran, weren't you pretty ferocious last time when you slaughtered dozens of people? Why are you acting like a scared turtle now?"
"Oh oh, that must have been your alternate personality back then, right?"
"After all, you're a psycho. Without those alternate personalities of yours, you're nothing but a complete and utter ordinary person."
The fact that the man in his thirties could mention Jiang Ran's massacre of dozens of people from The Artist's criminal group, the White Ghost-face Mask People, proved that this man in his thirties was also one of the fish that slipped through the net back then.
However, compared to the other survivors, this one had far more guts.
He actually dared to target Jiang Ran.
Jiang Ran's breathing was heavy.
Faced with this barrage of words, he stayed silent.
How could he even respond?
When his alternate personality was controlling the body, he had no memories of it.
He had no idea what they were talking about.
But he did understand one thing: these people in front of him would never let him go, no matter what.
His eyes darted to the side, and he spotted several wooden chairs nearby.
He grabbed one and hurled it at the man in his thirties who was blocking his path.
The man in his thirties naturally dodged backward.
When only the last chair remained, Jiang Ran grabbed it with both hands as a weapon and charged forward with long, rapid strides.
He wanted to break through the encirclement.
The man in his thirties naturally wouldn't let him have his way. Seeing Jiang Ran charging at him, he swung his axe straight at Jiang Ran. With nowhere to dodge, Jiang Ran could only toss the chair in front of him and leap onto a nearby table.
That chair wasn't split in two by the fire axe, since the angle and timing weren't right. But it still took some damage, getting hacked to the side by the fire axe.
Seeing this, Jiang Ran looked around, searching for anything else that could serve as a weapon.
But there was nothing left.
Despair. A despair that flooded his entire body.
Jiang Ran turned his head, looking around, completely unable to think of any way to escape this place.
No, wait, there was still one way: let the alternate personality take over.
Jiang Ran often felt like he was useless.
Dangers he couldn't resolve while controlling the body, the alternate personality could handle easily.
And yet it was the same body.
"Sigh, don't force me, all of you!"
Jiang Ran was exhausted.
Even with the alternate personality as a fallback, who could endure encountering maniacs trying to kill them every single day?
Once or twice was bearable, but three times, four times, and it kept coming.
He was afraid of pain. Afraid of death.
Jiang Ran truly had no way out.
Over there, the man in his thirties sneered from behind his mask:
"Don't force you? That won't do. We're going to put plenty of pressure on you, that's for sure."
Jiang Ran was on the verge of breaking down. He truly wanted to kick this man to death.
He shouted loudly: "If you keep pushing me! Watch out, my alternate personality might come out and kill every single one of you!!!"
Jiang Ran didn't even bother acting anymore.
But his lack of acting only earned him ridicule.
"Sure, bring it out. Let me see it. Perfect chance for me to get my revenge from last time."
A flicker of ruthlessness flashed deep in the man in his thirties' eyes.
Although their group of dozens from The Artist had been slaughtered and scattered last time,
there was a reason for that.
Back then, they only had those thin black robes on, with zero protection.
But Jiang Ran was wearing heavy armor.
So even though there were dozens of them and they seemed to have superior numbers,
their weapons could barely break through Jiang Ran's defenses or deal any damage.
That was why Jiang Ran was able to slaughter them like that.
If Jiang Ran hadn't been wearing armor back then,
or if even a few of their dozens had worn armor, they wouldn't have ended up so humiliated.
So, screw this so-called alternate personality. Bring it on!
Without that armor, you're nothing.
Jiang Ran did want the alternate personality to take over right now.
But it wasn't up to him.
He didn't even know when the alternate personality would switch in.
Did he have to go all out and risk himself first before it would take over?
Bang!
Just as Jiang Ran was hesitating, completely at a loss,
his entire body suddenly went from standing on the table to being launched into the air.
It turned out that the man in the female school uniform, after finishing his food,
had quietly crept up to Jiang Ran, snuck onto the table behind him, and delivered a flying kick to his back.
As a result, Jiang Ran was slammed hard onto the ground.
Jiang Ran was lying face down after the fall, and from the impact, he felt a searing pain in his hands and every part of his body that had made contact with the floor.
Thankfully, he was wearing a stab-resistant vest and cut-resistant gloves, which provided some cushioning. Otherwise, it would have hurt even more.
But before he could dwell on the pain,
the man in his thirties forcibly yanked the anti-riot helmet off Jiang Ran's head with his right hand, then grabbed a fistful of his hair.
And roughly hauled him up.
Jiang Ran naturally let out a heart-wrenching scream of pain.
He turned around, trying to fight back.
But before he knew it, the Monkey King Mask Man had appeared and drove a punch straight into his stomach.
That punch was heavy.
So heavy that Jiang Ran was knocked breathless and vomited on the spot.
The dumplings and wontons he'd eaten for dinner came heaving back up in big mouthfuls.
He almost retched up his stomach acid.
But the man in his thirties showed no intention of letting Jiang Ran off. Instead, gripping his hair and using his other hand to assist,
he slammed Jiang Ran viciously against a nearby large brown table.
Once. Twice. Three times.
Soon, the spot on the table where he was being smashed was covered in red bloodstains.
After roughly a dozen brutal slams, the man in his thirties tossed him to the ground.
Having been treated so brutally, Jiang Ran had temporarily lost the ability to resist. Lying on the ground, he could only feel dizzy, seeing stars, nauseous and vomiting.
Some of the sticky, rust-scented blood flowed into his mouth.
It tasted awful. He wanted to spit it out, but even that simple action was hard for him to manage right now.
"This is all he's got? How is he worth such a high price?"
The Monkey King Mask Man looked at the pathetic Jiang Ran and asked in confusion.
The man in his thirties sneered: "You guys are all recent New Residents, so you wouldn't know. He's nothing special normally. What's scary is his alternate personality. Right now, it should still be the main personality."
Monkey King Mask Man: "Since his alternate personality is the scary one, shouldn't we just kill him now while we have the chance?"
The man in his thirties chuckled coldly: "Wouldn't that be letting him off too easy?"
"Actually, more than wanting him dead, I want to make him suffer every possible torment before he dies!!!"
