Guarding the Prison for 100 Years, I Emerge to Overwhelm the Demon Venerable
Chapter 351 - 147: The People’s Will, Chained Suppression! Confucian Daoist Venerable, White Lotus Elder
In an instant, the golden chains, seemingly imbued with infinite power, forcefully dragged the frantically struggling Ink Dragon into the depths of the void.
"Su Bai!!!"
A furious roar, filled with endless rage, surged forth.
That Destiny Divine Dragon—no, that Demon Dragon—vanished completely from sight.
The destiny of a nation and a sect, which controls countless millions, is in turn influenced by those very people.
The light from every home that Su Bai had gathered was merely a catalyst.
The true source of the golden chains’ power came from within the Dayu Immortal Dynasty—from the countless common folk, the vendors and laborers, all struggling just to get by.
Sometimes, the very things that those in high places look down upon and disregard can one day become the immortal chains from which they cannot escape, leading to their ultimate downfall.
WHOOSH!
The lingering echo of the Leader of Gui Chen Sect’s roar was scattered by the whistling wind, and the vast Gui Chen Sect branch fell into a deathly silence once more.
Changqing Daoist, who had begun to rise, felt his knees buckle, and he collapsed heavily to the ground again.
His heart turned to ash.
He, of course, recognized the voice.
Even the Sect Leader’s contingency had been suppressed by this man. How could he not fall into despair?
"This... it’s over just like that?"
Cui Yanliang stood there, somewhat dumbfounded.
’After such a huge commotion, it was resolved that easily?’
"He merged with the Dragon Qi of destiny, with the hearts of the people. Killing him isn’t easy; it would affect everyone in the world."
"However, he ultimately failed. Suppressing him, on the other hand, is not difficult..."
Su Bai said slowly, flicking his sleeves.
The Leader of Gui Chen Sect’s scheme wasn’t particularly ingenious, but it was secretive and sound.
No one could have imagined he would split off a part of his true self to corrupt the Destiny Divine Dragon.
Had no one discovered his plan, he might very well have succeeded.
’Unfortunately, even if I hadn’t made a move, the Leader of Gui Chen Sect’s chances of success weren’t high.’
’He would have most likely fallen at the hands of that Celestial Secret Elder.’
’There’s a good reason why the path of Divination and Deduction is so deeply feared by so many.’
’That Celestial Secret Sect Master has a strange, mysterious quality to him.’
"Suppressed? Even you can’t kill him, Senior?"
Jin Yunfeng couldn’t help but ask.
The person he hated most was undoubtedly the Leader of Gui Chen Sect, with the sect’s Elder being a distant second.
It was only because his own Cultivation was weak and he had no hope of killing the Leader of Gui Chen Sect that he had settled for the next best thing: assassinating that Elder.
"He absorbed immeasurable Incense and Candle Power and merged with the Dragon Qi at the cost of a portion of his true self. He is not easy to kill. We can only let the people of the world handle him."
Su Bai gazed into the depths of the void, as if he could see the frantically struggling Ink Dragon.
"Sometimes, what’s more terrifying than death is a life worse than death."
The Leader of Gui Chen Sect wanted the hearts of all the Ten Thousand Spirits, the collective power of their will.
He sought to achieve immortality through their willpower!
As long as that power of will remains, his incarnation as the Destiny Divine Dragon will never perish.
However, his ambition was too great.
Obtaining even a fraction of it is incredibly difficult; wanting it all is a fool’s dream.
The human heart undergoes a Thousand Transformations. The hearts of hundreds of millions—what a heavy burden is that?
If one day he can no longer bear the weight, he will be crushed into dust and scattered to the winds!
With his plan thwarted and having been suppressed by Su Bai yet again, the sanity of the Leader of Gui Chen Sect—or rather, the Celestial Evil Infant—had been eroded by endless conflicting thoughts and was now completely warped.
"Let the people of the world handle him..."
Jin Yunfeng murmured, a faint understanding dawning on him.
"Let’s go."
Su Bai flicked his sleeve, calming the whistling air and settling the dust. His gaze fixed due north.
"Let’s go to the Gui Chen Sect Headquarters and see if anyone is trying to snatch the spoils..."
...
「A few moments later.」
The earth-shattering collisions seemed to have stopped completely. The Da Yu Capital City, however, remained in a state of shock and panic, unable to find peace.
Many looked up to see the lingering traces of the ravaging shockwaves, still branded across the sky.
The chilling auras seemed to linger in the air.
Nearly everyone, hearts still pounding with fear, dared not remain outdoors and quickly retreated into their homes.
Although a mere wall offered no real protection, being behind one provided a sliver of security.
So much so that, even with the sun high in the sky, the vast northern district of the Capital City—the area closest to the aftershocks—was now deserted.
The wide avenues were completely empty, like a ghost town.
Walking along the deserted streets, Tianyunzi felt like he was in a dream.
"The Leader of Gui Chen Sect... he fell just like that?"
’Only he knew how long his master had been secretly plotting and laying plans to deal with the Leader of Gui Chen Sect.’
’But this time, it seemed none of those plans were needed.’
’The Leader of Gui Chen Sect, who had dominated Da Yu for years, was struck down on the spot by this Su Bai who had appeared out of nowhere.’
"How could it be so easy?"
The Celestial Secret Sect Master gave a wry smile.
"If the Leader of Gui Chen Sect was only this capable, he wouldn’t have lived to this day."
"Even a cunning rabbit has three burrows, to say nothing of a Feathered expert?"
Tianyunzi was slightly taken aback.
Suddenly, he looked to the end of the long street and frowned, having sensed something.
"These people... where did they come from?"
He could sense faint, intermittent fluctuations of True Qi coming from the end of the street.
"There are numerous Cultivators in Da Yu. After so many years of accumulation, how could there be only a hundred or so experts? It’s just that the vast majority of them were unwilling to participate in this so-called Incense and Candle Grand Assembly."
"Now, within this Da Yu Capital City, there are plenty of opportunists eager to take advantage of the chaos."
"After all, the Gui Chen Sect Headquarters is an unimaginably rich prize!"
The Celestial Secret Sect Master paused for a moment, his gaze growing distant.
The next moment, he suddenly sighed.
"Let’s go."
"Go?"
Tianyunzi was a little confused. "Master, I thought you were going to the Gui Chen Sect Headquarters?"
"The opportunity is already gone."
The Celestial Secret Sect Master lowered his eyes, a flicker of shocked disbelief flashing within them.
’To have dealt with the Celestial Evil Infant’s Destiny Divine Dragon incarnation so quickly...’
’Just who is this person?’
The Celestial Secret Sect Master felt a heavy pressure in his heart.
He had spent a full sixty-year cycle on deduction and planning just to find a flaw in the Leader of Gui Chen Sect.
Yet that mysterious Su Bai seemed to understand the Leader of Gui Chen Sect’s weakness even better than he did.
In just a few moments, he had managed to suppress the Celestial Evil Infant’s Destiny Divine Dragon incarnation...
That was something he himself could never have accomplished, even if he used all his power!
’Could it be that this person’s skill in Divination and Deduction is far superior to my own?’
’Legend says that in ancient times, many of the old monsters slain by the Saints left behind failsafes.’
’In this day and age, are those old monsters...’
’...truly about to reappear in the world?’
...
WHOOSH!
A gentle breeze rustled as a figure landed lightly upon the eaves of a roof, silent as a falling leaf. Even under the bright sun, he moved like a Ghostly Charm.
The newcomer was a tall man in a green robe, his features gentle and refined. He moved through the air with an effortless grace, seemingly untouched by the mortal world.
Even though he was engaged in what amounted to trespassing, he carried himself with the composure of a scholar on a scenic stroll.
A nearly invisible speck of light landed on the man’s shoulder, transforming into a thumb-sized paper doll.
"The Gui Chen Sect Headquarters is already empty?"
"The experts guarding the rear courtyard have all fled too, but there’s an Array protecting it, so even you didn’t dare get close?"
The green-robed scholar looked at the paper doll and rubbed his chin, a peculiar light glinting in his eyes.
"It seems that’s where Old Thief Gui Chen’s secret is hidden!"
"Hm!? Who’s there!"
After a moment of thought, the green-robed scholar’s gaze shot out like lightning, scanning the empty air.
CRACKLE!
It was as if a terrifying bolt of lightning had instantly flashed through the void, setting off waves of ripples.
"Confucian Daoist Venerable, worthy of your title as a champion of the Confucian Dao. As expected, we couldn’t hide from you..."
A delicate laugh echoed from the void.
Then, ripples spread through the void, and three figures stepped out side-by-side, standing suspended in the air.
The three figures gazed from a distance at the green-robed scholar—or, to be precise, the Confucian Daoist Venerable!
The Confucian Daoist Venerable’s pupils shrank as he saw their faces clearly.
The one who had laughed was a woman in a yellow tunic. She was petite, yet on her back, she carried a massive red gourd taller than herself.
To her right was a stern young man in black, as silent and unsmiling as stone.
He carried a massive Iron Sword on his back, and a faint Sword Intent hummed around his entire body.
And in the center stood a middle-aged man in a white Daoist robe, his feet resting upon a white lotus.
The man was handsome with a magnificent bearing, his long hair tied back in a crown. Between his brows was a blood-red mole that seemed to glow with a faint light.
Within his eyes, faint double images flickered—it was as if he possessed Heavy Pupils!
"White Lotus Elder, you’ve come as well?"
The Confucian Daoist Venerable spoke, his expression grim.
His face was a mask of apprehension!
