"Well, this is impressive." Ruan Chanchan looked at the pelts that were put on display. She hurriedly turned to look behind her and motioned for the two mers to walk over. "Come here and take a look. These pelts are really nice. See if you like something."

When Xie Daiyu and Ruan Zeqiu heard that Ruan Chanchan wanted to buy animal pelts, they were stunned. They immediately rushed toward the stall. Xie Daiyu pulled her back by her wrist and whispered, "There is no need to buy these pelts. The leather clothes are not bad and we don’t need to buy these expensive pelts." Everyone knew that these pelts were made from rare beasts and they were obviously expensive. How could he allow Ruan Chanchan to waste her money on something like this? Anyway, what would he do by keeping these pelts?

Ruan Zeqiu also agreed with Xie Daiyu. There was no need for them to buy these pelts. Sure they looked good and he did want to buy one, but they were so expensive! How could they waste their hard-earned money on something like this? Anyway, they were just clothes in the end and nothing else.

"Brother Daiyu is correct. These pelts are good but they are expensive, we have earned money but we also worked hard for it. How can we just waste our money like that?"

Just as Ruan Chanchan was about to say that this was not a waste, a sneer came from behind. Frowning, she turned to look at the mer who was looking at them with a hint of contempt in his eyes. Though the mer did not say anything, Ruan Chanchan had a feeling that he was looking down at them. And the next second her suspicion turned true as the mer opened his mouth and spoke arrogantly, "If you don’t have the money to buy these pelts, why did you even bother coming here? You are just asking for trouble."

Ruan Chanchan frowned. It was not that she was being unreasonable but she could not ignore someone who was too eager to slap her face, right? She curled her lips into a smile and asked, "And how do you know that we cannot afford to buy these pelts, sir? Did you just peep at my wallet? That’s not a good thing to do."

As soon as she finished speaking the mer flushed red, while the stall owner turned pale. He glanced at Ruan Chanchan and shook his head fervently as if telling her to not poke this mer. But Ruan Chanchan had already opened her mouth and she was not going to let this matter slide. After all, she had done nothing against this mer nor had she offended him. So why was he running to cause trouble for her?

She continued to smile at the mer while the mer glared right back at her. However, after a short session of breathing in and breathing out, he patted his chest and said, "Of course it is not because I am shameless enough to peek into your wallet but because I know that your tribe is poor and without any earnings." Tucking a strand of hair behind his ear, he continued to mock Ruan Chanchan and the rest. "Who here doesn’t know that the big bear tribe is not only poor but also so weak and incompetent that they cannot even protect their ancestral lands? Huhuhu."

As he finished speaking, the mer laughed at Ruan Chanchan’s face making Xie Daiyu and Ruan Zeqiu fume.

"Are you from the black snake tribe?" before Ruan Zeqiu could explode, Ruan Chanchan clapped her hands and exclaimed, making the mer frown even harder. He looked at her as if he were looking at an idiot and snorted, "What’s the matter are you scared to face me now that you have realised who I am?"

To his surprise Ruan Chanchan actually nodded and agreed with him. With her hands still clasped together, she solemnly said, "Of course...of course I am scared. After all, your black snake tribe is really skilled in attacking at night. I am yet to forget how your tribe sneaked in our ancestral land and attacked us after we were just done dealing with another battle. The fact that you killed all of our injured totem warriors shows how strong you all are."

"And then there is the matter of the young and the old being caught and tormented. That was such a heroic act! It was as if the warrior god had blessed your tribe to take us down!"

"You!" the mer was so ashamed after hearing what Ruan Chanchan said that he could not help but glare at her resentfully. Though the woman was looking at him as if she were filled with admiration toward him, the truth was that she was actually shooting thorns at him. Every word that she spoke was filled with contempt over how the black snake tribe attacked the big bear tribe when their warriors were injured and could not fight at full potential and that too at night!

His breathing stagnated and he said to Ruan Chanchan threateningly, "You better not speak without knowing the cause and effect of your words!"

"Oh, what are you going to do? Kill another child you have caught back then and then dump his or her severed head at our tribe’s boundary line? That’s so terrifying." Ruan Chanchan spoke as if she was scared but the truth was that she was not at all scared. What could the black snake tribe possibly do to her? She was protected by the strongest totem warrior plus system. Even if they wanted to do something to her, they had to see if she was willing to let them play her.

The mer who was scolded was so embarrassed that he started to tremble. He originally wanted to mock the big bear tribe like he had done in the past, who would have thought that he would be scolded by this girl in return? He glared at Ruan Chanchan before turning on his feet and walking away. Forget it, he was going to let these people suffer later on.
