Gun of Ashes
Chapter 1436 - 19: Breach [Natsume and Madara’s Alliance Leader]
The once prosperous and sacred Saint Nalos Cathedral is now completely engulfed by flames; everything in sight is covered in a scarlet hue, as if fresh blood is soaking through.
The firelight slightly distorts the surroundings, turning them into grotesque shapes as if inanimate objects have come alive, snarling and whispering forbidden curses.
"Perhaps... this is what Hell truly looks like."
The Demon Hunter drags his injured leg forward with difficulty.
Scorching smoke and dust drift through the air, making it hard to breathe; each breath feels like a burning dagger slicing through the throat. He coughs a few times, with fresh blood seeping from his mouth and nose.
Gray walls are charred black, metal objects start to glow red and melt, and the candles lining the steps have already turned into a ground of hot wax, mixed with blood.
As a Demon Hunter of the new Order, he has only heard of the legendary Night of the Holy Arrival, and knows little of its entirety. But he guesses that what he is experiencing now might not be much different.
Another Night of the Holy Arrival.
Thinking of this, he finds himself somewhat excited, like the sacred wars recorded in ancient books; now he is on this battlefield fighting against Demons.
This is a great honor, he greedily enjoys this fear and glory, refusing to share it with anyone.
Maybe this is the power of faith, or perhaps... blind foolish madness.
This madness makes the Demon Hunter fearless against the fire and hatred, instead fueling his fighting spirit, holding tightly the warhammer, eager to smash one grotesque head after another.
The Secret Blood continues to rise, unrestrained by the Silver Binding Bolt; entering the threshold is quite simple, as long as he makes up his mind.
The self-healing of his body begins to accelerate, his staggering right foot gradually steadies, finally moving forward smoothly as if it were never injured.
Flames grow on his body, almost solidified, like some kind of glowing crystal, wrapping around the Demon Hunter and wriggling.
The surging power strengthens his body, making him even more powerful, his expression as ferocious as a beast.
A piercing howl sounds; a wall on the side bursts open, and a blurred shadow crashes directly toward the Demon Hunter. With the rolling flames, the attacking Demon is barely visible, but before it gets close, a rumbling echoes, and it is heavily pushed aside.
Authority · Michael.
Extreme flames erupt from the Demon Hunter’s body, spinning into a scorching white tornado within the narrow and confined space, the furious flames pushing the Demon away while scorching its body.
The front of its body facing the Demon Hunter is instantly burned clean, its skin scattering like broken ashes, revealing sanguine flesh, which also doesn’t last long, turning charred and cracked, followed by blood vessels and bones.
Blood is evaporated before it can splatter, bones start to crumble, the Demon falls from the fireball, struggles to rise, but half of its body is destroyed by the high temperatures upon brief contact.
Broken bones and charred innards are clearly visible, its head is a mess of blood and flesh, only a single eye struggling to open amidst the thick blood, glaring at the Demon Hunter.
His vision plunges into darkness, a heavy pounding echoes beside him.
The Demon Hunter leaps up, stomping heavily on the Demon’s body, swings the iron hammer, and cracks its head.
Once more.
The heavy hammer falls, blood splatters, as if trying to pry open a can, he continuously batters the head, listening to the sound of bones breaking, watching the head gradually crumble and break into a blur of blood.
The Demon raises its claws, attempting to resist, but is suppressed by the flames spilling from the Demon Hunter, pinned firmly to the ground; each burning lasts only a few seconds but leaves severe wounds.
At first, it struggles a bit, but gradually it loses drive, falls still under the Demon Hunter’s hammer and fire, until it is silent.
"How many more Demons are there?"
The Demon Hunter mutters to himself, since the battle’s start, they have slain countless Demons, yet they seem endless; whenever you think it’s over, they crawl out from the shadows once again.
Claw-like blades break through the flames, stabbing out of the thick smoke and dust.
The Demon Hunter dodges a portion of the attack but still gets struck hard by a few sharp claws, leaving large blood marks.
As flames spread and lift the smoke, his vision clears; he grabs a bloodstained longsword from the ground and strides forward.
The longsword blocks the Demon’s claw strike, the Demon Hunter advances instead of retreating, strikes forward, a heavy hammer smashes the Demon’s head side, blood and flesh fly, even the monster is dizzy from this blow.
The Demon Hunter seizes this opportunity, lifts the longsword, pierces the Demon’s heart, follows with an extreme heat blast, turning the Demon’s chest into ashes scattered in the air.
The entire chest collapses under the high heat, leaving only shattered dying flesh connecting arms and hip bones, barely resembling a rough human form.
The Demon Hunter swings around, using all his strength to lift the iron hammer, simultaneously a gale approaches, something speeds toward him.
