Gun of Ashes
Chapter 1441: Hell_2
“Where’s Medanzo? Is anyone still alive?”
Anthony shouted loudly, perhaps Medanzo’s armor could withstand this concentrated attack and strike the Hundred-Headed Demon, driving it back into the Static Holy Temple.
Looking towards the other end of the dust cloud, several Demon Hunters raised their Nail Swords. Their Authority was Medanzo, understanding Anthony’s intention. Dense Iron Armor covered them, practically wrapping them into an Iron Coffin.
“No… this won’t stop it, at least not before a critical breakthrough.”
The eerie sounds echoed in people’s ears, followed by the voice continuing its story.
“Priest, their lives should be used in more critical places.”
Anthony followed the sound and saw in the shadows not far away, a grotesque and terrifying presence slowly crawling out of the dark.
“You…”
Anthony’s gaze froze, unable to look away.
“You are right, this is a road of no return. Rather than being dominated by erosion, it’s better to make use of the remaining heat before then.”
The “Demon Hunter” held an iron hammer, his form grotesque, with fine flames seeping out between the seams of his body. His hair disheveled, hiding his hateful visage, but it couldn’t conceal his burning eyes.
To withstand the attack from the Hundred-Headed Demon, he chose at the last moment to release the Secret Blood, allowing himself to break through the critical point.
Thanks to this explosive strength, the Demon Hunter survived the deadly attack, but soon Death God came to claim the cost from him.
He was prepared for this, knowing that everything has a price, only that no one had come to claim it yet.
Without the constraint of the Silver Binding Bolt and without the Ascension Credentials, he couldn’t control the rampant erosion. The Secret Blood inside became increasingly hot, like molten iron, causing him to sink deeper into the darkness.
The Hundred-Headed Demon was fully engulfed in the smoke and dust raised by the ammunition. It tried to resist, raising its hand, the extreme flame attempting to block the incoming bullets, melting them into molten iron. But before it could wield this heat, another figure crashed into it, exposing them both to the dense rain of bullets.
The iron hammer smashed, breaking bones and blades, turning flesh into a mass of blood.
The dense rain of bullets hit his body, with some penetrating the flesh, directly hitting the Hundred-Headed Demon beneath.
“Honestly… just die for me!”
The Demon Hunter’s voice was hoarse, the Secret Blood soaring as he repeatedly swung the hammer, smashing through one arm after another. The Hundred-Headed Demon tried to fold its arms to protect its torso, but swiftly these defenses were torn open by the Demon Hunter.
His form grew more grotesque, rugged bones seeming to break through his body, extending outward.
This time, with no flame obstruction and arm protection absent, the heavy rain of bullets nailed into the Hundred-Headed Demon’s body. Amid blurred blood, it still attempted to retaliate, countless hands clawing fiercely at the Demon Hunter before it, but his figure grew ever taller until it became uncontrollable.
The others watched breathlessly; a mortal body began to transform as if emerging from a cocoon, another despicable demon crawling out from beneath this shell, swinging its fangs and claws, clashing ferociously with the Hundred-Headed Demon, locked in stalemate.
At this moment, the unceasing bullet rain halted. The Holy Hall Knights emptied their ammo and began to retreat, replenish supplies.
They performed excellently; even the Hundred-Headed Demon’s regenerative powers found their bodies riddled with wounds from the continual assault, with gray-white liquid constantly seeping, covering the ground.
Swirling arms, with the efforts from multiple sides, all broke; the demon tearing at its body, pushing the bloated torso, slowly nudging it back behind the Gate of Celestial Kingdom.
With the pause of the rains, Demon Hunters emerged from the shadows, collaborating with the demon to suppress the Hundred-Headed Demon.
It could only emit a whimpering noise, as if there were a throng of snakes slithering under its skin. Next, one new arm after another extended, sword-like nails deeply embedded into the ground, leaving behind slim traces.
Suddenly, the pressure resisting it dissipated; the bloated body clawing with hundred arms gradually recovered its form, burning heads trying to clarify the current situation, only to be immediately obscured by a towering figure.
The demon hoisted a shattered stone pillar, lifting the immense stone high.
“Get back for me.”
Thick smoke escaped from its mouth corners as if it held flames within.
The massive stone smashed down, crushing obstructing arms into blood mess, the swollen body started to compress, swell, like a draining container, gray-white liquid continuously rushing out, the Hundred-Headed above emitting a pitiful howl.
It attempted to resist, surge upon surge of flames rising, yet couldn’t shake the furious demon, which stubbornly pressed the giant stone against it, step by step forcing the Hundred-Headed Demon back into the Gate of Celestial Kingdom.
Darkness slowly wrapped it again, spreading black mist curling around, even the demon couldn’t avoid its coverage.
Yet… no need to think further.
The deepening darkness enveloped it, leaving little remaining sanity, replaced by absolute chaos and madness.
But unlike other demons, within this chaotic madness something tenaciously resisted, prompting action to slay all visible demons, despite being a repugnant demon itself.
As the stone pressed against the Hundred-Headed Demon, the two collided back and forth within the deep elevating shaft, soon disappearing from sight, leaving only strange roaring reverberating in the dark.
The demon stood before the Gate of Celestial Kingdom, paused for a long time, turned its head, gazing at Anthony.
Anthony showed no expression, tightly clutching the Nail Sword.
The worst happened; Demon Hunters must battle demons, sometimes even fight their own companions or themselves.
Stepping into darkness did crush the invading demons, yet post-transformation, the demonized Demon Hunter, rather than being a new threat.
Thinking this inevitably brings melancholy.
The others similarly retreated demon assaults, supposed to rejoice, yet seeing the demon standing at the Gate of Celestial Kingdom, they each fell silent.
The atmosphere solidified, rigid, until the demon slowly raised its rugged hand, gripping a blood-stained iron hammer.
“I’ll be waiting for you below.”
It said, turning to walk into the Gate of Celestial Kingdom, vanishing.
All fell into silence, then acted within it; some support the wounded, others kept moving stones, tossing them into the pitch-black shaft below, trying to block demons’ paths, while more stones were pushed over.
It seemed like dismantling Saint Nalos Cathedral, countless debris blocked the Gate of Celestial Kingdom, among them many shattered statues stained with blood, seemingly as if the Demon Hunters used corpses to block this gate.
The crisis seemed alleviated, yet it wasn’t over, nobody knowing when the next impact would arrive, nor how many then may perish.
Anthony suddenly felt very tired, exhausted in body and mind, he slowly walked out of Saint Nalos Cathedral, sitting on the steps.
He looked ahead; Holy Hall Knights stationed here, obeying Anthony’s orders, only handling support and collaboration, never entering combat directly to avoid being transformed into demons.
His gaze continued farther, Seven Hills trapped in endless flames, fire constantly extending, reflecting the Tiber River into a flowing light band, which stretched forth, through Florence, pouring into the sea, while on the distant sea surface, more celestial lights rose.
“Samuel, you really are a lucky fellow.”
Anthony muttered; turned into Hell already, no chance of escape, for anyone, truly.
