Chapter 455: More Surprises!
Elion looked around at all of them. "I know this is a lot," he said. "The system, the bloodlines, the goddess, the trials, and everything else." He leaned back slightly," And I do not expect you to understand all of it tonight; there is plenty of time to do that."
Mira tilted her head. "But you will answer all questions that will be raised eventually?"
"Yes, as honestly as I can."
Aria narrowed her eyes. "That sounds like you will still hide some things."
Elion smiled faintly. "It means some things are difficult to explain because even I do not understand them fully."
Aria put on a pondering expression as she brushed her chin thoughtfully, as if she was thinking about some impossibly difficult subject. "I guess that is fine."
The look on her face brought a smile to Elion’s face. Aria was probably the one who was the most lost and confused. She was not exactly the smartest tool in the shed, but in his eyes, that part of her was also adorable.
Tessa sighed and leaned back into her seat. "That is a lot of information to take in one night."
Mira smiled. "You did say that you wanted a bit of excitement in your life, and now you are complaining?" She teased.
"I guess I did, but I did not ask for this much."
Zenith looked at her. "You will get used to it, darling."
Tessa muttered, "Everyone keeps saying that, but apparently, when it comes to Elion, there is no getting used to anything."
Elion let out a relieved sigh and smiled at each of them.
"Woooo... I am happy I finally got that off my chest." The women around him looked at him with varying expressions.
Elion cleared his throat, "Now that we are up to speed with all the secrets and everything else that happened in the past, I think it is time for us to set the record straight for the future as well.
"As young as our little family is, it will keep growing." There was no doubt in anyone’s minds that more women would be joining them soon - the more obvious ones, and maybe a couple of surprise additions that no one here was remotely aware of.
Now it just felt natural, and the result was inevitable.
Elion puffed out his chest slightly, "And that brings us to the question that will probably keep me up at night the most."
Mira raised a brow, "Only one question?"
Elion ignored her. "As your man," he continued shamelessly, "my greatest priority is, and always will be, the safety of every member of my family."
"The world is vast," Elion said. "And the dangers within it are just as vast. Right now, we have one fairly problematic family digging at our heels."
His gaze sharpened slightly. "Though I do not consider them that big of a problem anymore. I am more concerned about the aftermath in case we end up having to eradicate the Dawncrest family."
The bold statement shocked the three who were familiar with the Dawncrest family, but Elion just smiled shamelessly and gestured toward Zenith, "And by we, I mean my powerful demon wife, Zenith here."
Zenith’s eyes sparkled, "Hubby is relying on me."
Elion nodded proudly without shame. If he had to hide behind Zenith’s skirt to make it out of this little status quo alive, then so be it.
"I am not foolish enough to believe that every other noble family will sit idly by and watch as one of their own burns to ash. Not to say they will necessarily help Dawncrest, but assuming the majority of this kingdom’s nobility are as rotten as I think they are, we will be regarded as a threat to the natural order of things that has long since been established in this kingdom."
His fingers tapped lightly against the armrest. "If we do it quietly, however, that is another matter entirely. Others might speculate, but they cannot do much based on speculation."
A brief silence followed.
It was already a surprise to them that Elion had moved so far ahead in his thoughts that he was not even thinking about William anymore.
He was thinking about the whole Dawncrest family. The scope of his strength, thoughts, and capabilities had already grown beyond that scale.
Even Aria, who hated William perhaps more openly than most, stared at him for a moment as though seeing something new.
Elion waved his hand. "Anyway, I am spouting a bit much."
"You are," Tessa muttered.
"My point is," Elion ignored the jab and continued, "people who see me will see us as a huge threat. Some of them may try to get rid of us before we become too troublesome."
His tone became more serious. "So it is only natural that I would want to prepare for any future threats to our little family." He smiled brilliantly, "Especially with little ones on the way."
A deep, absolute silence fell over the room.
"Wait, what!?" Tessa and Aria exclaimed at the same time.
"What do you mean, little ones!?" Aria demanded. This time, she seemed to give up on restraint completely. She got up and banged the table in the centre dramatically.
Boom!
The sound echoed through the room, making Isla flinch.
Elion raised both hands. "Calm down, Aria, let me explain."
"Do not tell me to calm down! Whose little ones?"
Elion sighed dramatically. He was not done saying what he wanted to say, but he doubted she was going to calm down without some sort of explanation from him to put her mind at ease.
Now, he was already regretting bringing up the topic without addressing everything else first. So with no other choice, Elion dropped the bombshell. "Esme is pregnant."
He didn’t know how well Aria was acquainted with Esme as of now, assuming she had visited this house while Esme was around, but he said it anyway; she could connect the dots herself, if such a thing was even possible.
Zenith added cheerfully, "And Celeste is pregnant too." The room went utterly silent for a moment.
Elion’s head slowly turned toward Zenith. "Zenith."
She tilted her head. "What? Were you not going to tell them?"
"I was going to ease into it."
"Oh." Zenith smiled innocently. "My mistake."
"By Celeste, you mean THE Celeste? Vampire upperclassmen Princess Celeste Chronos?" Tessa asked in shock as she completely ignored the first name.
"Yup..."
It looked like she was about to say something, but after opening and closing her mouth a few times, she decided that perhaps it was much better if she just kept her mouth shut.
’Unbelievable!’ She thought quietly. How had things moved so quickly? Since when!?
Sure, Elion was in the DC with her, and she came looking for him in class once, but still, that didn’t explain how she was suddenly having a child with him!
It was even more confusing since Celeste was the kind of person that Tessa looked up to, her being so young, and not only the strongest in her year, but also stronger than all the third years as well. And Elion had not only somehow convinced her to become his woman, but to bear his child too!
A wry smile appeared on her face. ’I don’t think I should be surprised by anything he does anymore.’ The more time she spent around him, the more and more shocking surprises kept popping up out of nowhere!
Her warrior heart was not built for this!
