Elion stared at the screen for a long while, blinking repeatedly as he let the changes sink in. A slow smile spread across his face.

"Well," he muttered, "that is certainly something."

Not much need to be said; his physical stats had almost all doubled! This was undoubtedly his greatest jump in strength yet. His stats had not merely improved; they had exploded.

The Dragon Bloodline had done far more than simply alter his body. It had elevated his entire foundation, taking every part of him and dragging it to a completely different level.

Elion rubbed his chin thoughtfully. No wonder his body felt so absurdly powerful: And no wonder his senses had sharpened so much.

He had expected a large improvement, but this was far beyond what any breakthrough would have given him. Then again, there was nothing normal about the bloodline he had chosen.

A peak Primordial Dragon Bloodline: Even saying it sounded ridiculous.

Elion leaned forward slightly, his eyes moving across the screen again. There were a few other things to note other than the monstrous changes to his physical attributes and other stats.

He took note of how his vitality and stamina had capped at 1,999. ’Must be because my current level cannot handle anything beyond that.’

He still remembered when the system had said any stat growth that would harm him if left to grow unmarked would be restrained or capped until his body could handle containing such power.

He didn’t know how it was even possible for additional stamina and vitality to harm him, but he trusted the system’s judgement.

[Good to see you are learning, but since I am back, there’s no need for you to speculate anymore. It is less so that any additional boosts in those attributes would harm you, but as stated before, reaching a new realm of power helps your body undergo a qualitative change to contain the power to be gained in that realm, that being said, it is more so that the changes your body will undergo to gain a physique worthy of containing a vitality and stamina stat above two thousand will do more harm than good as you are now, hence the process is delayed. Hence, your stats are capped until you break through into High Mage ranks. That is the reason why you will usually see an explosive growth in stats at each realm breakthrough; it’s like finally letting all that buildup explode forth without any restriction]

Elion nodded, ’I thought as much.’

[Oh, did you now?]

’Shut up! And stop reading my mind every time; try to play fair for once!’

[...]

He calmed himself down and moved on to the next notable change. He had lost all his individual elemental affinities, but he had gained an all-elemental affinity to cover everything, probably thanks to his Elemental Dominion Innate ability.

’Does that mean I won’t have to work on every element to improve spellcasting for different elements?’

[Yes]

He ignored the system’s confirmation and smiled to himself instead. Less work for him to do, while gaining more strength? Always welcome.

He hadn’t exactly been paying attention to his elements, since... ever; what little he was capable of doing had been learned at the academy, but that also meant that he was wasting his potential as a mage.

All that mana, and he barely cast any spells, other than the minimal spells that he used to complement his swordsmanship in battle.

"I might have to handicap myself in battle, fight more as a mage instead of using just my sword." He nodded thoughtfully.

There was no need for him to go all out every time when he was up against a weaker opponent. His skills with the sword were already overpowered; it was a mystery why he was still stuck at the advanced mastery stage for his sword.

[You think just because you move your sword faster and with more force than you used to, you are going to break through?] The system said in a condescending tone.

Elion’s lip twitched. Was this system angry with him now?

He ignored the jab; instead of focusing on how the system had said this statement, he focused on what he could benefit from it.

’What do you mean by that? Isn’t that what a swordsman is supposed to do? The goal is to kill, disarm, or overpower your opponent by any means necessary; speed and power are the most basic requirements to achieve that result, while technique is probably the most important when up against an opponent of the same strength.’

[You are half right, but that is also why you are still stuck in the advanced mastery stage. I will admit that your skills with the sword are more refined than the vast majority of sword masters, not that I would know, but being better than most doesn’t make your swordsmanship any better: That is an amateurish way to think]

Elion sighed, ’Since you know so much about swords, why don’t you tell me what I am supposed to do then, instead of throwing insults about how bad my swordsmanship is.’

[It’s quite simple really, if you are chasing the epitome of what it means to be a swordsmaster, then you just need to become one with your blade, and before you say something stupid like you are already one with Kurogoroshi, let me douse that fire before it even flickers. Technically, you are, but also, you are not. Forming a soul connection with your sword does not mean you are one with your blade; the connection goes much deeper than that. Congratulations on finding yourself such a good weapon, by the way]

Elion frowned, not because the system seemed to have embarked on a mission to insult him until he apologised for whatever wrong it thought he had done, but because the system had said a lot of things, but also a whole lot of nothing.

"Become one with my blade... And what is that supposed to mean exactly?" He muttered out loud.

[Sorry to disappoint you, host. Even though I am supposed to assist as much as I can, I can only do that: assist, not babysit you. I am only a humble creation made to help you on your journey, and I am no swordsmaster. I have never held a sword, and neither do I even have the body or arms to wield a sword. Meaning I cannot help you with this one; you might have to find a master to teach you the way of the sword]

Elion clicked his tongue, "Of course..." Why go on that rant if the damned thing was not even capable of teaching the things it spoke of, but he had no way to argue with that logic.

Why would he learn to fight from someone who had never fought a day in their life? The system could definitely help with a lot of basic stuff and give him basic information on different subjects, but it would never be able to help him with something that required actual experience.

"How annoying." How was he even supposed to find someone to teach him how to become so good at wielding a sword that he becomes one with it? He was not so knowledgeable about the kingdom’s powerhouses, so he definitely wouldn’t know who was regarded as the strongest swordsman.

’Looks like I will have to gather a bit of information.’

Become one with your blade...

There were a lot of ways to comprehend this particular statement, but to Elion, it might as well have been obvious; However, it was also not so simple.

Being as good a swordsman as he was, he understood that there was no better way to improve than swinging your blade repeatedly, practicing your strikes until it becomes second nature, but it could not be as simple as that.

He could confidently say that, as he was, his sword was already an extension of his arm, so what more could he do to improve?

After thinking about it for a bit, Elion shook his head, realising that he was drowning himself in the subject of improving his swordsmanship again.
