Harem Training System: Every Girl I Train Makes Me Stronger!

Chapter 319. Fighting to Simply Exist for One More Second

  • Next Chapter

The momentum William had clawed back from the jaws of defeat didn’t just slip away; it was violently torn from his grasp.

Just as William began to feel the intoxicating rhythm of dominance, Seraphina’s entire combat philosophy shifted.

She stopped fighting like a grandmaster following a treatise and started fighting like a predator hunting in the dark. She began to sabotage herself.

She would initiate a fire stance thrust, only to abort it halfway through with a sickening lurch of her wrist, transforming the attack into a clumsy, unpredictable clubbing motion that defied all trained logic.

"Clever bastard," William hissed through gritted teeth.

He had committed to a wind stance parry, already shifting his weight to slip her blade, but Seraphina’s sword didn’t follow the arc.

Instead of a slash, she twisted the hilt, sending the blade spiraling into a grotesque, off-balance lunge that caught William’s forearm.

CRACK.

The sound of his radius bone protesting under the magical pressure reverberated up his arm. William’s vision flashed crimson as pain lanced through his limb.

He had been tricked. His predictive advantage, the very thing that had given him the upper hand, had become his greatest liability.

"Did you think you had me figured out?" Seraphina’s voice was a low growl, her breathing ragged but her eyes sharper than ever. "You’re reading my technique, William."

"But I am not my technique."

She descended on him like an avalanche. The duel descended into something far more primal and desperate.

The elegant dance was gone, replaced by a brutal, grinding exchange of steel and sinew. The arena floor became a mosaic of violence: blood droplets splattered across the sand like macabre raindrops, each one marking where a blade had found flesh.

Clang! Slash! Thud!

William met her chaos with raw desperation. He swung Aetherion in a desperate Stone configuration, but Seraphina used the momentum of his own attack to pivot, her elbow connecting with his jaw with a wet thwack that sent teeth skittering across the sand.

Blood sprayed from William’s mouth as he stumbled back, tasting copper and salt.

’My jaw... damn it, everything hurts,’ William’s mind screamed, his thoughts fragmenting under the assault. ’Think, William! Don’t try to predict her; predict the chaos itself!’

He lunged forward, not with a stance but with a raw, unrefined strike. Seraphina parried, but the sheer desperation in his movement forced her to retreat.

In the exchange, her blade grazed his ribs, opening three parallel furrows that wept blood down his side, while his shoulder caught her in the solar plexus, sending a shockwave through her frame.

Both of them were deteriorating. Sweat poured off their bodies, mixing with blood to create a slick, crimson sheen on their skin.

Their faces were masks of agony and focused fury, veins standing out on their necks as they pushed their bodies beyond the breaking point.

In the VIP section, the atmosphere had shifted from awe to genuine terror. Lord Valestria, whose cruelty usually manifested as icy detachment, was no longer seated comfortably.

He had leaned forward unconsciously, his manicured fingers digging crescents into the armrests of his throne. His jaw was set so tight it looked as though it might shatter, his eyes fixed on William with a complex cocktail of rage and grudging fascination.

For the first time, the mask of the untouchable lord had cracked; he was witnessing something he couldn’t control.

Across the arena, Ardyn leaned against the railing, a feral grin splitting her face. She wasn’t watching a noble duel; she was watching two wolves tear at each other’s throats, and she loved every second of it.

"That’s a genuinely even match!" Ardyn called out, her voice carrying over the cacophony of clashing steel.

She let out a sharp, appreciative whistle. "Finally! Someone who can actually make the young Grand Swordmaster bleed!"

The crowd didn’t hear her. They couldn’t.

They were trapped in the hypnotic, terrifying spectacle of two legends trying to destroy one another, one broken bone and one crimson slash at a time.

The arena had become a furnace of desperation. The earlier elegance of the duel had burned away, leaving behind something raw, ugly, and terrifyingly violent.

Every breath William drew tasted like copper and burnt mana; every movement sent fresh waves of agony through his battered frame.

Then, the trap snapped shut.

Seraphina unleashed a sequence that defied every principle of magical swordplay William had studied. She initiated the Thorn Stance, her blade moving with the vicious, jagged unpredictability of a briar patch.

Her strikes came in short, stinging bursts aimed at his joints, forcing William into a frantic, close-quarters scramble. Just as William braced for the expected recoil the moment she would inevitably reset her stance, she did something impossible.

Without a single millisecond of hesitation, without even a flicker of magical fluctuation to warn him, she collapsed the Thorn Stance directly into the Ash Stance.

"What--!?" William’s mind screamed.

The transition was seamless. One moment she was a flurry of piercing stabs; the next, her blade seemed to dissolve into a haze of deceptive, smoke-like motions.

William, sensing the shift, tried to adapt. His instinct screamed for power to meet her new momentum.

He channeled his mana into Aetherion, forcing it to expand and solidify into the massive, devastating Greatsword configuration.

It was a fatal miscalculation.

The sheer weight of the transformed weapon, which should have been his salvation, became his anchor. As Seraphina’s blade swept through the ’Ash’ haze, William found himself trapped in the physics of his own strength.

He was too slow. The greatsword was too heavy to pivot.

He was caught mid-transition, a juggernaut frozen in place.

’Move, damn you, MOVE!’ his inner voice shrieked as he fought the inertia of his own weapon.

Seraphina didn’t miss her opening.

"Die in the smoke, William!" she roared, her eyes alight with the ecstasy of the hunt.

She drove forward with a devastating lunge. William raised Aetherion to block, but the Ash Stance’s misdirection caused his guard to misalign by a fraction of an inch.

Seraphina’s blade found the gap.

SLICE.

The steel tore through his leather vambrace and sank deep into the meat of his forearm. William felt the cold bite of the metal against his bone before the searing heat of the pain followed.

Blood erupted in a hot spray, painting his own arm and the sand below in crimson.

"Gah!" William’s scream was strangled as his grip faltered.

The sudden loss of blood and the shock of the wound made his fingers spasm. For one heartbeat, Aetherion, now a massive, unwieldy slab of enchanted steel, nearly slipped from his weakening grasp.

Seraphina didn’t give him time to recover. She twisted her blade inside the wound, a cruel grandmaster’s flourish, before ripping it free and following up with a brutal pommel strike that caught William square in the sternum.

CRUNCH.

The sound of his ribs cracking under the impact echoed off the arena walls. William was sent staggering backward, his boots skidding uselessly across the blood-slicked sand.

He was being hunted, driven toward the very edge of the arena like prey cornered against a cliff.

’I can’t... I can’t hold it,’ William thought frantically as blood blurred his vision.

His left arm felt numb, throbbing with a rhythmic, agonizing pulse that matched the hammering of his heart. ’If she gets one more clean hit... if she connects with the throat or the heart... it’s over.’

Every strike from Seraphina now felt like a death sentence. She was a whirlwind of controlled violence, her blade flashing through the air with relentless fury, forcing William into a desperate, stumbling retreat.

He was no longer fighting to win; he was fighting to simply exist for one more second.

A collective, sharp intake of breath rippled through the crowd as they watched the prodigy falter. The spectacle had turned from a display of skill into a glimpse of potential slaughter.

In the stands, the shock was visceral. William caught, in his fading peripheral vision, both Lia and Catherine rising sharply from their seats.

They didn’t seem to realize they had stood up; they were frozen in a state of pure, unfiltered alarm.

Their faces, pale beneath the arena lights, were etched with a terror that mirrored the deadly reality unfolding on the sand below.
