Chapter 978: Chapter 401: Divine Shadowless Blade

In the second week’s Magic Potion Class, whether it was Snape or the other students, they all noticed that Ron seemed like a different person.

Ron seemed to have found motivation for studying; he would always use the Half-Blood Prince’s textbook to preview before class.

His explanation for this was to avoid being criticized by Professor Snape for just copying from someone else’s book.

But it wasn’t Professor Snape who criticized him, it was Hermione who backstabbed him first.

The Magic Potion Class ended with Professor Snape giving Ron five points against his will—he grudgingly did it while pinching his nose.

Although he quickly deducted the points from someone else, giving points to silly Little Giant Ron was clearly unacceptable.

After class, Gryffindor students packed up and walked out.

"Why did you suddenly get enlightened?" Hermione stared at Ron for a long time. "I never thought you could have such talent in the Magic Potion Class—I don’t believe Professor Snape’s personal guidance is that effective."

"I’ll tell you later," Ron said mysteriously in a low voice.

They gathered a group and sat down at the Gryffindor table.

As they were getting ready to have lunch, Ron noticed Hermione was still staring at him, so he told her the truth.

Hermione listened to his recount and her face grew darker.

"You probably think I’m cheating, don’t you?"

Ron was annoyed by the expression on her face and asked her after finishing his story.

For some reason, he always found Hermione’s suspicion to be a very difficult betrayal to accept!

"Yes, you didn’t do it independently, did you?" Hermione said in a very hard tone.

"I just executed it differently from you guys," Ron said, "and it could cause a huge accident, right? I took a risk and got rewarded—it’s quite reasonable. I did it at the risk of getting criticized by Professor Snape."

He initially wanted to make a snide remark about Snape’s sharp tongue, but he held back in the end.

"Wait—" a voice suddenly rang out, "Did I hear you correctly, Weasley? You’ve been doing what someone else wrote in a book?"

Ron turned to look; it was Draco.

"It’s none of your business, Malfoy," Ron said expressionlessly, not wanting Draco to know about the Half-Blood Prince’s notebook.

Draco leaned in with a grin, draping an arm over Neville’s shoulder, "I’m really curious, you know..."

"It’s not that notebook you found in first year, Malfoy," Hermione sarcastically said, "At least there’s no Voldemort disguised as a woman among Gryffindor draining our life force!"

Upon hearing Hermione’s words, Draco admitted to feeling a bit rattled.

"What notebook, don’t accuse people falsely!" Draco defended himself, but his body gave in honestly, as he stood up from the stool, "Don’t talk nonsense, I really haven’t, never heard of any notebook—"

With that, he fled the scene.

After Draco left, Ron muttered, "Actually, it’s nothing to get worked up over, Hermione, it’s just an old textbook scratched over by someone."

"But you followed what was written in it," Hermione said sternly, "Though I said that to Malfoy just now, I actually have doubts about this thing..."

"I just tried a few little tricks written in the margins, to be honest, Hermione, there’s nothing suspicious about it," Ron argued.

"I think my suspicions aren’t wrong; at least we should verify my suspicions," Hermione said, placing her magic wand on the table, "We should check if there’s anything unusual about it. I mean, all those bizarre instructions, who knows what’s going on?"

"Hey!" Ron protested angrily as Hermione quickly pulled out the "Advanced Potion Making" book from his backpack and raised her wand.

"Revelio!"

She decisively tapped the cover, reciting the spell.

Nothing happened; the textbook remained a textbook—worn out, dirty, with corners curling up.

"Done?" Ron asked irritably, "Do you want to wait and see if it does a few backflips or you think it’ll bite like Jack?"

"It seems fine," Hermione still suspiciously eyed the textbook, "I mean, it does look like... just a textbook."

"Great, then I’ll take it back," Ron said, as he snatched the book back from the table.

He carefully placed the textbook back into his backpack and said furiously, "You just think I’m not worthy of doing well in studies, right? All my achievements in the Magic Potion Class are just luck."

"I didn’t," Hermione retorted.

"Yet your actions prove that’s exactly what you think!" Ron snapped, "You just don’t trust me, you don’t believe in me!"

Hermione wanted to say something, but Harry discreetly tugged on her sleeve.

"Don’t yank me!" Hermione snapped her head angrily at Harry.

Harry was left with a confused expression.

Really? Girl?

Why are you yelling at me? 𝑓𝑟ℯℴ𝓂

Maybe Hermione realized her behavior was inappropriate, she quickly apologized to her good friend, "Sorry, Harry—I got a bit anxious, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have done that..."

"You should apologize to Ron," Harry sighed, "Honestly, Hermione, your attitude just now was somewhat hurtful, you really distrust Ron too much."

Hermione’s lips moved, but she couldn’t say anything.
