Help! The Useless Fake Lady Is the Guide Every Sentinel Wants

Chapter 44: When Life Gives You Problems, Make a Profit!

"Can’t you two just try to get along? Emphasize on try."

"We can try, sure."

Lydia could practically feel the weight of Ephraim and Rishe’s Resonance pressing against each other.

Their opposing Resonance kept clashing against each other—fire and ice.

A few steps away, Kathy hurried after Hugo’s stretcher while the medical Puppers continued their work.

"We will go to the ER, Lydia. Have fun with your fiancé! And please spare Rishe for me."

Kathy waved her goodbye. Her eyes were almost tearful as she had to bid her farewell to her bias.

"I’ll be back as soon as possible to your side, Rishe. I promise."

Simon even had to redirect her after Kathy almost hit her head on a floating panel.

Kathy is sure as gay as fuck. She didn’t even bother to hide her affection for Rishe.

After the stretcher disappeared down the corridor, Lydia turned her attention back to the two Sentinels who were still busy exchanging polite smiles.

"I think you should go along with your classmates, Lady Arestionne." Ephraim kept smiling politely despite their growing tension. "Even Lady Vixielle had missed you terribly."

Rishe, meanwhile, looked just as graceful as ever. Her purple rose fan concealed her sweet smile. "I can always attend to Kathy later. Thank you for your unwanted concern, Your Highness."

Their growing hostility was thick enough to cut with a knife.

"You’re welcome."

Lydia pressed her lips together.

"May I just go back to my dorm now?"

Lydia was about to leave when her bracelet beeped. She raised her wrist and opened the notification.

"I have attached the footage evidence here. You can forward it to the Imperial Authority to counter her.

If you want some extra money, you can even report the incident and press charges against House Fielyn to seek compensation for the damages.

The choice is yours, my fiancee.

Yours,

Ephraim Rion Adelstein"

Lydia squinted at the Yours part but she decided to let it slide away. Her past self would surely have swooned at that. But now? Hmm... perhaps not so much.

A video and three pictures. These would be amazing proofs for her case.

With these files in her, Lydia would have something solid to counter if Emily or her family if they wanted to twist the incident against her.

And the best part? Perhaps since that crazy woman had the audacity to harm Hugo and burned the sweet potatoes, Lydia could press charge about it as well.

Let’s give them a taste of their own medicine!

When life gives you problems, you have to find a way to get profit from them!

Wait, was that the correct term?

My fiancé might be a headache, but he certainly knows how to make himself useful.

+100 points for Ephraim. Solid, solid.

This way, both her father and brothers would be delighted as well. Talk about killing two birds with one stone.

"Thank you, Ephraim. You’re such a life saver!!" Lydia beamed him a radiant, genuine smile as she jumped and hugged him.

"Lydia. We’re at the university. People are watching. Well, but I don’t mind."

"I just want to appreciate your hardwork, Ephraim. You sure kept your words about helping me. Thank you so much."

Her radiant smile was enough to stun and paralyze both Rishe and Ephraim.

It was super effective!

For one glorious moment, the two Sentinels fell silent.

Ephraim’s polite smile faltered ever so slightly, while Rishe’s stopped fanning herself.

Both of them looked at Lydia, seemingly caught off guard by the sudden change in her expression.

"What? Why did you two suddenly got so quiet?

Ephraim was the first to recover, although the smile returning to his face looked a little more suspicious than before.

"Nothing. You should smile more often, Lydia. And... feel free to show me your gratitude when we’re alone and—"

Before Ephraim could finish, Rishe quickly yanked Lydia away from him.

"Please don’t show such a blinding smile so casually around a perverted man, Lydia."

"Lady Arestionne." Ephraim’s voice remained polite. "Such baseless accusation was nothing but a slander."

"Let’s go back to our dorm, Lydia," Rishe said, giving her a gentle tug.

Just when Ephraim was about to follow Lydia and Rishe, several Imperial Authority and Elite Guide personnels approached him.

"Greetings, Your Highness. We would like to report about this matter about Lady Fielyn. We found that she was under...."

They were talking about Emily. Still, Lydia hadn’t expected the personnel to approach Ephraim so urgently.

They exchanged worried glances and discussed the matter in hushed voices. As Ephraim listened, his expression grew more serious.

"It was just as we suspected, Your Highness."

"But where did she get that? It was the strong one as well."

"We will continue to investigate this matter further."

Whatever the personnel had discovered, it was serious enough to demand his full attention.

Ephraim was the Imperial Elite Sentinel Commander of the Adrestian Empire, after all. No wonder the Imperial Elite Guides reported their findings to him as well.

But Lydia couldn’t hear the rest of it. Not when Rishe dragged her away from it. Was she doing this on purpose?

"Come on, Lydia," Rishe urged, her grip firm around Lydia’s arm.

Lydia tried to glance over her shoulder, hoping to catch a glimpse of the discussion. Unfortunately, Rishe continued pulling her forward, leaving her with no opportunity to hear the rest of the report.

Behind them, Ephraim and Rishe exchanged one last glance.

For a brief moment, the hostility between the two Sentinels seemed to disappear. Neither smiled, and neither spoke, but their eyes met with a quiet understanding that Lydia couldn’t see.

Ephraim gave a small nod.

Rishe subtly returned the gesture before turning back to Lydia and leading her farther away.

"I think we should call it a day, Lydia. Especially since you’re still recivering from your head injury."

Whatever the Imperial Authority had discovered about Emily, both Sentinels seemed to understand how serious it was.

And for reasons Lydia didn’t know yet, neither of them wanted her to find out.
