Chapter 1207 - 872: The Divine Tree’s Command
Chapter 1207: Chapter 872: The Divine Tree’s Command
The Clan Leader didn’t react at first, but suddenly seemed to think of something and jolted in shock. "You, you mean that one..."
As early as a hundred years ago, the Mother Tree had already shown signs of withering. It seemed to have foreseen its future end, so it condensed a single seed, tore open the void with its power, and flung that seed out, abandoning it in the outside world.
Unfortunately, to this day they had never been able to retrieve it. They didn’t know where that seed had gone and thought it had long since vanished from this world.
This matter was a top secret of the Parasite Clan. Only the Clan Leader and the High Priest knew; even the elders were kept in the dark.
Back then, the Clan Leader and High Priest hadn’t understood why the Mother Tree did such a thing. They only thought it was an accident, and after a hundred years, they gradually forgot about it.
Looking at it now, it turned out the Mother Tree had been preserving the bloodline... That clansman who was lost in the outside world would be their Young Master!!!
Heavens, the Young Master had been wandering outside all this time. Could it be that that female had seen their Young Master? Otherwise, why would she ask that?
"Should we tell that female about this? Maybe she knows where the Young Master is," the Clan Leader said hesitantly.
"No need." The High Priest shook his head, a vicious glint flashing through those aged eyes. "She won’t live past tonight anyway!"
"Are we really going to do this? There’s the Sea Country’s army outside. If this gets exposed..." Thinking of tonight’s plan, the Clan Leader hesitated, his face uncertain.
All the tribes were at peace now. If they really made a move, it might plunge the world back into chaos.
"This is the Mother Tree’s command. We must do this, and we cannot fail!" The High Priest’s tone was firm and decisive.
No one knew how many years the Mother Tree had lived; it had long since become an ancient, almost mythic existence. Ordinary Beastman couldn’t communicate with it at all. The High Priest was the envoy in the clan dedicated to conversing with the Mother Tree.
If the clansmen wanted to know the Mother Tree’s orders, they could only learn them through the High Priest. His words were an iron decree that could not be disobeyed.
The Clan Leader’s expression turned cold as well. He looked toward the distant treehouse, then as if making a certain decision, gathered all the clansmen together.
...
Shen Tang lay on the bed with her eyes tightly closed, seemingly already asleep.
In the corner, a vine silently spread out. The tip of the vine was extremely sharp, gleaming with a metallic chill, like a sharp sword thrusting straight toward her heart.
"Bang!"
The vine hadn’t even touched the female when it was suddenly blocked by an invisible barrier.
Right after, the female on the bed slowly opened her eyes. Her dark pupils were clear and bright. She curled her fingers slightly, and the vine instantly shattered into countless pieces.
"Ah!"
With another flick of her fingers, a green figure was yanked straight up from deep underground like a kite with its string cut, and with a loud "boom," it slammed hard into the wall and was flung away.
Outside the wooden house, Parasite Clan Beastman had already surrounded the place layer upon layer. At their head were the Clan Leader, the High Priest, and the elders.
They watched the female walk out without a single hair harmed. They involuntarily took two steps back, faces turning grim. This female was actually even stronger than she had been a few years ago! No wonder even the Divine Hall had been destroyed in her hands; she truly couldn’t be underestimated!
Shen Tang said calmly, "If you’re going to attack, then all of you come at once. Don’t play these little tricks. My time is precious—let’s make this quick."
"Hmph, how arrogant!"
The High Priest said coldly, "You knew all along that we were going to make a move on you tonight."
Shen Tang neither admitted nor denied it. "As far as I know, Plant Beastmen are born cold and emotionless. They’re not exactly the warm and hospitable type."
"Hmph, you’ve only yourself to blame for repeatedly opposing our clan. Today, you’re dead for sure."
"We set a barrier over this area ahead of time. No matter what happens here tonight, the outside world won’t know. Don’t even think about your Sea Emperor lover coming to save you!"
"Everyone together—kill this girl and offer her as a sacrifice to the Mother Tree!"
The Parasite Clan Beastman launched a frenzied attack in an instant.
The Clan Leader and the High Priest thought that no matter how strong this little girl was, she was still alone. With the full might of the entire clan, there was no way they couldn’t take down a mere girl. Yet the more they fought, the more shocked they became. The two sides were actually evenly matched. Their strikes were fierce and dense, but they could never break through her defenses.
On the chaotic battlefield, a vine burst out of the ground, but instead of attacking Shen Tang, it lashed toward the Parasite Clan.
How is that possible?
This female could actually control plants!
Just as the Parasite Clan was about to be defeated, Shen Tang’s body suddenly lost all strength, and her superpower also abruptly stopped working. Her expression changed slightly—what was going on?
The Second Elder, who was best at the Poisonous Gu Technique, saw that the time was ripe and burst out laughing. "The headwind feast we prepared for you last night had plenty of good stuff added to the dishes!"
"We know you have a Healing Ability, but don’t waste your effort. This is a special Gu poison crafted by our clan. No matter how many tricks you have, it’s useless!"
The Beastmen of the Parasite Clan laughed wildly.
The panic on Shen Tang’s face suddenly vanished. The corner of her lips hooked into an unfathomable smile. "Is that so?"
There was a hint of mockery in her voice. "The Parasite Clan’s Poisonous Gu Technique really lives up to its reputation—stronger than I expected. But... do you really think you can kill me?"
The High Priest snorted coldly. "This girl still wants to stall for time. Don’t waste words on her, kill her now!"
Just as they were about to make a move, Shen Tang suddenly released a puppet from her Space—a bizarrely gorgeous purple-red butterfly. In the blink of an eye, it swelled with the wind a thousandfold, a sky-obscuring Poisonous Butterfly beating its wings and scattering scale powder like falling snow. The moment that toxic dust landed on the Plant Beastmen’s bodies, they let out shrill screams, wailing like ghosts, suffering a fate worse than death.
"Not good! It’s an insect-type Beastman!"
"How is this girl working with insect-type Beastmen? Ahhh! It hurts, it hurts... it’s corroding my vines and leaves, I feel like I’m on fire!"
"Make her stop! I’m going to die from the pain!"
Insect-type Beastmen are the natural enemies of Plant Beastmen. The liquids and many substances they secrete have an extremely corrosive effect on plants. Not to mention that Mansa, as a Poisonous Butterfly and the former Holy Seat of the Divine Hall, had a strength that needed no further explanation—more than enough to deal with these Beastmen of the Parasite Clan.
That’s right, this Puppet Butterfly Shen Tang released was Mansa. After he was killed, he still had a single breath left. Shen Tang had originally planned to finish him off directly, but she felt it would be a waste to kill him, so she refined him into a puppet for her own use.
Heh~ Back then Mansa had lusted after her looks and wanted to turn her into a puppet after she died. Who would’ve thought he’d end up as her puppet instead? Truly, what goes around comes around.
After the Colorful Poison Butterfly finished off those Plant Beastmen, it gracefully fluttered to Shen Tang’s side, then turned into a tall, purple-haired, seductive beauty. Bowing respectfully, he said, "Master, I have subdued these ungrateful things. Whether to kill or interrogate them next, I await your command."
"Well done. You’re done here; withdraw."
"Yes, Master." Mansa answered obediently, then turned back into his original form, shrinking down to the size of an Ordinary butterfly and landing in her hair, looking from afar like a butterfly ornament.
The Beastmen of the Parasite Clan knew the outcome was decided—they were no match for this deep-hearted girl. Their hearts were full of fear, yet they still put on a brave front. "If you kill us, you can forget about ever getting the antidote."
Hearing this, Shen Tang did indeed hesitate, then said coldly, "Hand over the antidote."
"Fine, as long as you let us go, we’ll give you the antidote!" A trace of viciousness flashed in the Second Elder’s eyes. There was no antidote to begin with; she was planning to kill Shen Tang the moment she relaxed her guard.
The next second, an Ice Blade instantly pierced through her body, nailing her to the ground.
The Clan Leader and the others were shocked. "Th-this is impossible?!"
Wasn’t she poisoned? How could she still use her superpower?
But they no longer had the mind to think it through. With a thunderous roar, from the distant forest they could see surging seawater raising hundred-meter-high waves, pouring back like a tsunami, bringing with it the grand warships and army of the Sea Clan, surrounding them completely.
Jia Lan walked up to Shen Tang’s side and asked anxiously, "I sensed an energy fluctuation from a battle here, so I rushed over to check. They were trying to harm you!"
Shen Tang nodded and looked at the Parasite Clan Beastmen whose faces were filled with despair, smiling as she said, "The Parasite Clan’s Gu poison really is impressive—even I fell for it. The Healing Ability couldn’t resolve it in time, but I can seal off my meridians and slowly force the poison out of my body... I’m truly sorry for ruining your plan."
Jia Lan’s face turned ice-cold in an instant. An Ice Sword formed in his palm, and he was about to kill these Beastmen of the Parasite Clan. Shen Tang stopped him, then turned to the High Priest. "I want to know something. I’m no longer your enemy, so why are you still trying to harm me?"
The High Priest knew he was utterly defeated and could only confess. "It was an order from the Mother Tree. It told us to kill you and use you as nourishment for a sacrifice."
The Clan Leader and the other elders also nodded. "We bear you no personal malice. Everything we did was in adherence to the will of the Mother Tree. It was the Mother Tree that instructed us to act."
The Parasite Clan may have a Clan Leader and elders, but they only manage the clan on the surface. The Parasite Clan truly obeys the Mother Tree; the Mother Tree’s orders are their supreme command.
Even their decision to submit to the Divine Hall back then was a command issued by the Mother Tree.
Shen Tang, however, was puzzled. "Why does the Mother Tree want to kill me?"
The High Priest said, "You possess an extraordinary Healing Ability. The Mother Tree said that as long as it devoured you, it could regain its vitality."
Shen Tang shook her head. "My power can’t help the Mother Tree recover."
The High Priest and the others, however, didn’t believe her. If that were true, then wouldn’t it mean the Mother Tree had lied to them? How could that be possible?
Shen Tang felt something was very off, so she had Jia Lan keep watch over the people of the Parasite Clan to prevent them from rioting again, then she took the High Priest and once more headed toward the Mother Tree’s location to find out the truth.
