Chapter 1211: Chapter 875: Don’t Be Reckless, Be Careful Not to Harm the Child!
The vines entwined around Shen Tang’s wrist also loosened.
On the banks of the River of Life grew a new Divine Tree, its branches and leaves weaving a green canopy, roots like ancient dragons plunging into the earth. Countless emerald vines hung from the branches, swaying gently with the wind, beautiful and awe-inspiring.
The Parasite Clan people all excitedly knelt under the tree, speaking words Shen Tang couldn’t understand, some even moved to tears.
Shen Tang seemed infected by the emotion, took two steps forward, and gently touched a drooping vine.
A small flower bud appeared on the vine.
Shen Tang lightly touched it with her fingertip, and the pink bud shyly blossomed.
Her unconscious little action seemed to set off a domino effect—the branches and leaves of the Divine Tree burst into a sea of pink flowers, stirring waves like a sea of blossoms in the wind!
The wind blew, petals danced and scattered, and Shen Tang stood amidst the sea of flowers, her expression filled with delight.
"So beautiful!"
Shen Tang simply thought the scene was beautiful, not understanding its meaning. However, the Beastmen of the Parasite Clan who knelt below changed their expressions.
The Clan Leader and the High Priest were particularly apprehensive, never expecting this foreign female, whom they had always regarded as an enemy, to not only be the savior of their Young Master but also his... If they had really succeeded back then, the mere thought of it terrified them to no end, and they regretted it deeply! Fortunately, things did not come to that, for they couldn’t imagine the consequences otherwise.
Though the Plant Beastmen appeared indifferent to matters of the heart, they were not devoid of affection but rather pure and straightforward, viewing things without distinction of good or evil. Towards benefactors who had aided their tribe, they would unconditionally repay the debt.
Once a Plant Beastman developed feelings, they remained steadfast and unwavering, loyal unto death.
"Honorable Madam, we truly don’t know how to thank you this time." The Clan Leader and High Priest’s expressions grew more respectful, their voices tinged with a slight tremor, even wanting to kneel.
Shen Tang quickly said, "No need for formalities! Your Young Master is also my friend and has helped me greatly. Even without your request, I would have done my best to save him."
She looked at the flowers dancing in the air, pondering, "Why did the vine suddenly bloom? I’ve never seen it like this before; could something be wrong?"
The Clan Leader lightly coughed, unusually hesitant, "No need for concern, Honorable Madam, the Young Master is fine. The flowers... they indicate that the Young Master’s body is recovering, recovering well!"
An elder quickly chimed in, "Yes, yes! Honorable Madam, you may not understand our Parasite Clan; this is a common occurrence, something many tribespeople experience at least once in their lifetime."
Knowing the vine was fine, Shen Tang breathed a sigh of relief and didn’t dwell too much on the matter.
Jia Lan seemed to grasp something, his refined face suddenly darkening. He stepped forward to pluck the petals from Shen Tang’s hair, discarding them as though he had touched something dirty.
He took her hand, somewhat sulkily and coyly, "Tangtang, we’ve wasted quite some time here; it’s time to head back."
Shen Tang nodded, looking at the Clan Leader, "If there’s nothing else, we’ll take our leave. Feel free to contact us if needed."
Shen Tang handed the Clan Leader a token imbued with her spiritual power, enabling communication in emergencies even across worlds, though it was one-time use only.
The Clan Leader solemnly accepted it, escorting them away.
...
Five or six days had passed since Shen Tang left, and since her departure, Lu Xiao had been heavy-hearted, unable to muster interest in anything, and the documents on his desk remained largely unread.
He clutched his chest, his heartbeat somewhat erratic, as though something major was about to happen...
Midway, Shen Tang sent a brief message saying she had found Jia Lan and both were safe and sound.
But why haven’t they returned after so long? Were they delayed by something on the way?
The Lu Family army needed new weapons and equipment. Lu Xiao, wanting a change of scenery, personally led a team out for procurement, coincidentally encountering Shu Kui on the way, ignoring him as though he hadn’t seen him.
Shu Kui, considering their decent private relationship, was puzzled by being ignored for the first time, "Why the long face? I haven’t offended you."
Lu Xiao glanced at him but answered unrelatedly, "Next time my father visits you, don’t give him everything."
Shu Kui was initially stunned but quickly understood, with a teasing smile, "Oh, so you’ve used it. How did it work out?"
Lu Xiao said nothing, turning to leave.
He didn’t like discussing personal matters with others.
Shu Kui assumed he was dissatisfied with the potion, quickly catching up and hooking an arm over his shoulder, "Ah, the potion still has a few unforeseen side effects due to being somewhat unrefined, but... for you, it shouldn’t count as side effects."
Lu Xiao shrugged off his hand, quickening his pace, "I’m busy; I won’t accompany you any longer!"
Shu Kui watched his retreating figure, clicking his tongue lightly, truly a reserved one. It’s just a little aphrodisiac potion, and he’s shy about it.
His potions were hard to come by and wouldn’t easily be given to others!
"I forgot to tell you, my potion’s very effective."
Shu Kui, having been in the Divine Hall for years, developed these potions primarily for experimental subjects, yielding quite satisfactory results.
Soon, good news would likely come.
He couldn’t help but wonder how adorable her child would be.
Shu Kui laughed, but then sighed lightly, needing to help the female he admired bear another male’s child, driving him almost crazy.
He couldn’t understand why he’d suddenly felt compelled to research such unfashionable things, something he once greatly disdained.
Lu Xiao’s worried days bore some ease, and within a couple of days, he received news of Shen Tang’s return.
Xiao Jin was training new recruits on the training ground.
Despite his usual rebelliousness and cheeky demeanor, he was, on the training field, the epitome of a cold, ruthless Rakshasa. Every batch of fresh recruits had to go through him, losing half their lives.
In the eyes of those new Beastman recruits, Xiao Jin was a severe, unsmiling general!
Upon hearing news of Shen Tang’s return, he burst into a sunshine-bright grin, tail lifted high, indistinguishable from the young hotheads, abandoning the training to disappear without a trace.
The young Beastmen hadn’t expected that the general would be a two-faced person.
Deputy Sang Mu was long accustomed to it. If these new recruits saw Xiao Jin sticking to His Majesty like glue and fawning over her, they’d surely be flabbergasted.
Lu Xiao, however, maintained more restraint, leading the welcoming party to the city gates. Seeing Shen Tang and Jia Lan return safe, he breathed a sigh of relief, heart slightly stirred.
This time, Jia Lan’s entire aura had changed significantly, becoming fuller and more powerful, subtly exuding an immense, ancient aura.
Who knew what transpired during their days in the sea area?
Xiao Jin, however, wasn’t thinking much, quickly running over to embrace Shen Tang, only to have Jia Lan step in between, blocking him with displeasure, "After all this time, you reckless leopard, how are you still so rash? Tangtang is pregnant; you can’t be so reckless!"
