Chapter 943 - 962: Federation Live Broadcast Company Hit by a Bloody Strike

It was December 1st.

This month, the Federation had many major events lined up. School holidays were a given, and the Spring Festival Gala was a long-standing tradition. In addition to these, there was the New Star app’s New Year’s Eve dinner, the Federation Live Broadcast Company’s annual gala preliminaries and the main gala itself, as well as the recently announced Legion Tournament.

Held once every two years, the Legion Tournament was a grand military feast that gathered all the top figures. It featured the newest Mechas, the coolest individual soldiers, the most dazzling technology, the most passionate teamwork, and the most thrilling visuals.

As soon as the tournament went online, it completely swept the Federation Live Broadcast Company off the trending searches. The heat around the tax evasion probe tags plummeted to rock bottom. Only the menu announcement for the New Star New Year’s Eve dinner managed to scrounge up some traffic.

At the Federation Live Broadcast Company, Qian Song was incredibly annoyed. He cursed inwardly, thinking that the Legion Tournament couldn’t have come at a worse time.

In reality, their original programming schedule would have concluded their own competition before December. However, the traffic dividends were simply too massive. The conglomerate had finally created a project capable of dominating the entire internet, and they couldn’t bear to end it so quickly. Thus, they artificially dragged it out.

Now, look what happened. They were overshadowed, and concurrent viewer counts were dropping. They really had to wrap it up now, otherwise, a lackluster ending would ruin the overall impact. They still had to produce a second season next year; they absolutely couldn’t let their reputation rot.

"Forget it. Let’s just cut our losses and prepare the final Chapter," Qian Song decided. After discussing it with Qian Duoduo, the matter was settled.

As the annual gala preliminaries drew to a close, their popularity was fundamentally unable to bounce back.

But to everyone’s utter shock, when they opened the Star Network on December 3rd, the trending searches were absolutely horrifying.

It was early morning. Countless people had just woken up, completely unaware of what had happened, only to find the entertainment channel tags they casually browsed every day looking like this:

#Federation Live Broadcast Company Contracted S-level Beauty Streamer Found Dead at Home#

#Girl in Red Dress Commits Suicide by Hanging, an Ancient Method#

#Suicide Note Exposes Unknown Truths About Federation Live Broadcast Company#

#She Said: They Have Another Name—Gifts#

It looked like clickbait, but upon clicking the tags, netizens realized this wasn’t sensationalism at all.

It was actually real!

The whole thing started when an S-level contracted female streamer from the Federation Live Broadcast Company suddenly sent a text message to a friend she hadn’t spoken to in a long time. The message said she was under too much pressure and couldn’t go on living.

This friend happened to be a self-media content creator. She was actually quite familiar with the streaming circle. While beauty streamers did face considerable pressure, this particular friend was renowned for her natural beauty and had originally gained fame precisely because of her chill, laid-back persona. She shouldn’t have been stressed to the point of suicide.

The friend wanted to ask for more details, only to receive a photo of a letterhead bearing the words "Suicide Note."

She immediately realized this couldn’t be a joke.

She promptly called the Federation police. It was 3:00 AM at the time. Even though the officers dispatched immediately upon receiving the call and arrived at the streamer’s home in a mere thirteen minutes, it was still too late.

The streamer had acted with extreme resolve. She swallowed banned painkillers, slashed her own throat with a sharp weapon, dressed in a red outfit, and then hanged herself in her home using white silk.

By the time the police arrived, she was already completely devoid of life.

What could make a female streamer who was on the verge of becoming a winner in life harbor such a death wish? And with such absolute finality?

Everything centered on that suicide note.

"I was born into an ordinary, average family," the letter read. "There were several children in our home. Growing up, I was never the most outstanding one, so the treatment I received at home was mediocre. But I didn’t hate my parents, because survival itself was already hard enough.

"When I was nineteen, I came to the Federation Star all by myself. My heart was full of apprehension, yet my eyes burned with ambition. At that time, I wore the cheapest clothes, but deep down, I firmly believed I would succeed. I told myself that I was going to become a true citizen of the Federation Star and live the life I always wanted."
