Chapter 955 - 974: Just Watch, the Sixth Army Will Definitely Run Out of Steam

  • Next Chapter

As time wore on, the slightly weaker teams were the first to be completely wiped out. Regiments 15 and 9, which consistently ranked at the bottom, were the very first to exit the competition.

Fourteen teams remained. Broadcasts echoing across the mountain announced the eliminated participants.

The fourteen remaining squads still maintained some distance from one another. However, the First Army and the Fifth Army were positioned quite close; if they searched just a bit further, they would likely run right into each other. Sure enough, their keen instincts led the two predators to clash.

A skirmish was inevitable. Regiment 1 and Regiment 5 engaged in a fierce firefight. The deafening noise drew another team occupying the same mountain: the Seventh Army.

The Seventh Army didn’t show themselves. Instead, they waited in the wings, hoping to play the fisherman and reap the spoils. A tiny micro-camera even captured their conversation. Watching the firefight ahead, the leader of the Seventh Army beamed with delight.

"Let them fight. When the time comes, we’ll pick a side to finish off and claim their weapons and medical supplies."

Regiment 1 and Regiment 5 were indeed locked in a bitter stalemate.

However, right behind the Seventh Army, the Sixth Army was also hiding in the bushes. Regiment 6 remained completely silent, communicating almost entirely through hand signals. This unfolding scene greatly amused the audience watching outside through the screens.

Regiments 1 and 5 began deploying advanced weaponry. Seeing that both sides had lost more than half their forces, Regiment 1 made a prompt decision: all their members drank their Spirit Nourishing Liquid.

Seeing them pull out the glowing vials, the Seventh Army’s hearts bled. That was a scarce resource! It was such a waste for a team on the verge of defeat to consume it. They had assumed Regiment 1 would save it. There was nothing they could do now; it was already drank, so they had to swallow their frustration.

The Seventh Army held back for another ten minutes. By then, Regiments 1 and 5 were largely spent. The Seventh Army immediately armed themselves and charged into the battlefield. Since Regiment 1 had already consumed their Spirit Nourishing Liquid, Regiment 7 targeted Regiment 5 instead. Thanks to their swift assault—and Regiment 5’s stingy habit of hoarding supplies—Regiment 7 actually managed to seize Regiment 5’s small stockpile.

Just as Regiment 7 was basking in their triumph, the Sixth Army struck with lightning speed.

Comprising the most elite soldiers with the most rigorous training, they charged into the battlefield as fast as lightning. In the very first clash, Regiment 7 was entirely routed.

Regiment 7’s captain led his team in a steady retreat, but Mo Xin’s side pursued them relentlessly. As they were driven toward the edge of a cliff, Regiment 7 finally realized they had fallen into a trap. They thought they were the fisherman waiting to reap the spoils, but they had actually become the prey!

With their defeat sealed, the Seventh Army’s captain made an immediate decision: drink the Nourishing Liquid first, then charge straight at the enemy! The Seventh Army and the Eleventh Army were brother legions. If Regiment 7 went down, Regiment 11 still had a chance. They needed to whittle down the Sixth Army as much as possible!

On the screens, the fires of battle raged.

Outside, a senior commander offered his commentary. "Even if a team’s strength far exceeds the opponent’s, it’s very difficult to seize their medical supplies. Glass bottles are too fragile and will shatter if forcefully snatched. Moreover, since it’s just a liquid, teams backed into a corner will simply drink it themselves."

After consuming the Spirit Nourishing Liquid, the Seventh Army looked much more energized. They reversed their retreat and charged forward with absolute vigor. However, the Sixth Army’s formation didn’t break. The caliber of this team of elite soldiers was put on full display.

Bullets flew wildly through the grass and trees. The soldiers advanced rapidly through the hail of gunfire to close the gap. Once the distance was narrowed, the effectiveness of firearms diminished—and the Sixth Army had never feared close-quarters combat.

More than ten minutes later, the violently swaying trees gradually stilled. A vicious battle had come to an end.

This was the Sixth Army’s domain of advantage, but the senior commander’s assessment wasn’t overly optimistic. "They’re sweating.

"Everyone in the Sixth Army is sweating. Hand-to-hand combat, sprinting, and pursuing the enemy consume a massive amount of stamina. There are still nine teams left, and the battlefront is gradually extending. The further they go, the worse their stamina will be."
