Heroic Spirit Deck in Yu-Gi-Oh!
Chapter 787 - 787
His and Yubel's final trump card — the Supreme Fusion God, which fused the power of twelve dimensions — had failed to stop Hoshino. This completely extinguished any thought the Supreme King had of fighting Hoshino head-on.
"Why are there two Jadens?" Caught between the two Jadens and being pushed back and forth, Minazuki looked as though he had seen a ghost. "I thought the Supreme King was just another personality that Jaden came up with because of his chuunibyou phase."
The Supreme King explained, "This is a space constructed from one's inner landscape. It is a special universe where anything can become physical as long as consciousness exists."
"So that means your consciousness, Supreme King, has now become separated from Jaden's consciousness."
Akasha understood.
"But why is Jaden still asleep?"
The Supreme King pointed toward Jaden Yuki, who was crouching in the corner of the darkness, and answered:
"He's running away. After becoming unable to face the truth, he chose to close himself off."
"The truth?"
"The truth that he has to become the enemy of someone important to him, and that he must defeat Hoshino Chiyuki. My cowardly other self chose to run away, while I took on everything for that 'cowardice'!"
The Supreme King, who had shouldered every difficulty in order to fulfill his promise with Yubel, had ultimately borne it all.
"But why does Jaden have to defeat Hoshino-nee no matter what? And what exactly do you mean by your ambition and your promise?"
Faced with Akasha's barrage of questions, the Supreme King did not appear impatient. He simply removed the helmet from his head and tossed it into the darkness, where it disappeared from sight.
"Akasha, you probably don't know this… the Fusion, Xyz, and Synchro Dimensions were originally part of the same world. Restoring the world that was once divided into three — that is my ambition, and it is also my promise to Yubel."
"( ̄ー ̄) Oh, you made that up pretty convincingly. I almost believed you."
Ten thousand years ago, the world was divided into three by Jaden's previous incarnation, the Spirit Prince. Even Hoshino had only just learned about it from the Ice King.
Of course, there was no way Akasha could have known about such a completely absurd reality.
And as for the plan to restore the three divided worlds by merging them back together, the Supreme King had actually already attempted it.
Back then, when he used Super Polymerization during his duel against Hoshino at Duel Academy, the Supreme King had already intended to use Super Polymerization to fuse the three dimensions together.
But as reality proved, the Supreme King had failed.
Only two dimensions had successfully fused. The remaining one-third, the Synchro Dimension, gave no response whatsoever.
The final result was that after only two dimensions had fused, the world did not return to the complete state of light and shadow it had possessed ten thousand years ago. Instead, it became the strange, distorted world it was today.
The Supreme King knew very well what the cause of this failed fusion could be.
There was only one possibility.
The world of the Synchro Dimension had already reached its end and was completely destroyed.
Ten thousand years had passed since the complete world was divided into three. Over the course of those long ten thousand years, no one could say what kind of unexpected changes might have occurred.
However, for an "accident" severe enough to cause an entire world to be destroyed, there would have to be some extraordinarily serious catalyst, something like Ragnarök.
And considering all the possibilities within the Synchro Dimension, the only thing that could have triggered such an event was the girl who had been left behind in the Synchro Dimension when the original world was divided, the girl chosen by the World Legacy.
"That was the vessel of the demon, the World Legacy! And the Synchro power produced by bearing the power of the World Legacy was an even greater force — one capable of destroying the world."
After destroying the Synchro World, the World Legacy once again descended into another dimension, the Fusion Dimension.
And it chose Hoshino Chiyuki, who could be said to be the strongest Duelist in the Fusion Dimension, as its host.
"If Hoshino Chiyuki is not defeated, this world will suffer the same fate as the Synchro Dimension and eventually meet the same end."
"But you lost, didn't you? And you lost horribly."
Akasha hit the nail on the head.
"That wasn't even an evenly matched duel."
Minazuki joined in, twisting the knife further.
"If it weren't for the power of that Yubel monster, Supreme King, you wouldn't have stood a chance against Headmistress."
"..."
At this point, faced with the mockery of the two, the Supreme King had nothing left to explain.
Just as Akasha had said, even after revealing all of his trump cards, he had still lost — and lost miserably.
Hoshino had not even used the power of the World Legacy or the Synchro Dimension.
Talking about ambitions and the like now was practically a joke.
"And besides, I don't think Hoshino-nee would ever destroy the world."
Akasha emphasized her point, while giving the still-silent Jaden beside her a tug.
"Unlike you, Supreme King, I believe Jaden himself thinks the same thing. That's why he refuses to fight Senpai!"
"That is nothing more than baseless speculation."
The Supreme King frowned.
"Akasha, you're always like this, blindly believing in Hoshino Chiyuki. Even my other self has become accustomed to running away and being cowardly simply because of Hoshino Chiyuki's existence."
"╯°Д°)╯ You're just Jaden, so don't get so full of yourself! I see an opening — take this!"
Annoyed, Akasha swung her foot and swept it across the black armor covering the Supreme King's lower leg, causing him to stumble and nearly lose his footing.
"Jaden, you've never beaten me in a fight, have you?"
As childhood friends, how could two kids growing up together never get into fights?
Jaden had taken more than a few beatings from Akasha throughout his childhood.
And they were genuine beatings.
For one thing, given Jaden's personality, he would never truly fight Akasha.
But more importantly, Akasha had been raised by the Rare Hunters, and when it came to actually throwing hands, Jaden really couldn't beat her.
Akasha wasn't the only one she beat up, either.
After Yubel left, any brat who dared bully Jaden also ended up tasting Akasha's fists.
"Trusting your companions has never been a sign of cowardice or running away. In my eyes, compared to Jaden, who chose to trust Hoshino-nee, you, Supreme King, are actually the one with the cowardly personality who is accustomed to running away!"
"What did you say?"
The Supreme King's brows furrowed even deeper. Akasha's words had clearly struck a nerve.
"He's getting angry! He's getting angry! I knew I hit a sore spot~"
Minazuki was more than happy to play along, adding fuel to the fire with his sarcastic remarks from the side.
"I'm saying that you, Supreme King, are weak!"
Akasha emphasized it again.
"You took it upon yourself to shoulder everything, and in the end you still accomplished nothing. Then you chose to hide in this ridiculous space…"
"As you are now, forget about Senpai — you can't even beat me and Minazuki!"
"Weak?"
The Supreme King coldly retorted.
"After fusing with Yubel and obtaining the power of the Darkness of the Universe, the two of you, Akasha, have no chance of defeating me!"
"Whether we can win or not, why don't we just try and find out~"
Akasha unfolded her Duel Disk, placed one hand on her hip, and pointed at the Supreme King.
"Give it everything you've got, Supreme King. Then I'll make you realize that what I said is the truth!"
"Then I'll join in too, Akasha. The opponent is a two-person team, after all. We can't afford to be at a disadvantage."
Minazuki likewise activated his Duel Disk. Since they were facing Supreme King Jaden after his fusion with Yubel, there was no way he would let Akasha fight alone.
Duel——!
