Chapter 713: Chapter 694: Self-Created Spear Technique, First Form “Chaos
He raised his long spear and slowly thrust it forward. This thrust was very slow, so slow it was almost imperceptible. But his Spirit was entirely focused on the spear tip, feeling the Power of Order surge from his sea of consciousness, flow down his arm, travel along the spear shaft, and pour into the spear tip. Under his deliberate guidance, the Power of Order was indeed gathering at the spear tip. However, the gathering speed was incredibly slow, almost unnoticeable. Moreover, even when it reached the spear tip, the power was disorganized and incapable of forming an effective attack.
He retracted his spear and reconsidered. Where did the problem lie? He recalled the article he had just read. The core of the Profound Nether Celestial Spear was to “borrow”—borrowing the inherently existing Gravity Field in the world. His current method was to draw out the Power of Order from his sea of consciousness and forcefully attach it to the spear tip. This was using his own strength to drive the attack, not borrowing.
But Order Rules were different from Gravity Rules. The Gravity Field was omnipresent and could be borrowed at any time. What about Order Rules? Order Rules were also omnipresent, but they were abstract, unlike Gravity, which could be felt and touched. How could they be borrowed?
Xu Wuyi fell deep into thought. After a long moment, a possibility suddenly occurred to him. Order was indeed omnipresent; the operation of all things followed established Rules. These Rules were invisible and intangible, yet they truly existed and continuously exerted their influence. His Flame of Order could burn these Rules, throwing them into Chaos. This process, in essence, was breaking the existing Order.
When breaking Order, he was actually interacting with those existing Orders. Those burned Order Fragments would remain in a state of Chaos for a short period, unable to function further. What if he could “borrow” these fragments? Not by using his own Power of Order to attack, but by “borrowing” the inherent Order within the enemy and then breaking it. Just as the Profound Nether Celestial Spear borrowed the Gravity Field, he would borrow the existing Order within the enemy.
This train of thought seemed much more feasible than his previous one. He raised his long spear once again. This time, he didn’t draw the Power of Order from his sea of consciousness. Instead, he focused his Spirit on the spear tip to perceive the invisible Order in his surroundings. At first, he couldn’t perceive anything. But he didn’t give up and maintained his state of intense concentration.
A few minutes later, a subtle sensation emerged. He could seemingly “see” the intangible Rules operating around him. The flow of the air, the propagation of light, the echoing of sound—everything was following its respective laws. He aimed his spear tip at a flowerpot on the nearby table. The flowerpot rested on the table, completely motionless. But the reason it remained still was because Gravity and the supporting force had achieved equilibrium. This was a type of Order.
With a shift in his thoughts, his Spirit coalesced at the spear tip, attempting to “touch” that Order. The exact moment the spear tip made contact with that Order, he felt a bizarre change. Under the interference of his Spirit, the force maintaining the equilibrium began to exhibit minute fluctuations. The flowerpot swayed slightly.
Xu Wuyi’s eyes lit up. He was onto something!
He continued to experiment, his Spirit even more focused and his spear tip even more precise. The fluctuations became increasingly pronounced, and the flowerpot wobbled more violently. Finally, the moment he unleashed a full-force strike, the Order maintaining the equilibrium was completely broken. Losing its support, the flowerpot plummeted from the table. Xu Wuyi reached out and caught the flowerpot right before it hit the floor.
He looked at the flowerpot in his hand, then at the long spear in his other, a flash of enlightenment crossing his eyes. So that was it. Instead of using his own Power of Order to attack, he would borrow the existing Order on the enemy and, through the guidance of his Spear Technique, plunge those Orders into Chaos. This method didn’t require expending too much of his own Power of Order; it only required using his Spirit to interfere with those existing Rules at the moment of contact. Just like how the Profound Nether Celestial Spear borrowed the Gravity Field, he would borrow the Order Field upon the enemy.
He set down the flowerpot and raised the long spear once again. This time, he was no longer satisfied with breaking the Order of a tiny flowerpot. He aimed the spear tip at the empty void in front of him, imagining an enemy standing there. Then, he stepped forward and thrust. This thrust was much faster than before. The spear shaft traced an arc, generating a faint whistling sound as it cut through the air.
The instant the spear tip thrust out, his Spirit coalesced with all its might to perceive the Order existing in that patch of empty space. The moment the spear tip penetrated that void, his thoughts shifted, and his Spirit interfered with full force. The Order within that empty space instantly fell into Chaos. The air no longer flowed according to the laws of nature; instead, it darted about erratically. Light no longer traveled in straight lines; instead, it twisted and refracted. Sound was no longer distinctly audible; instead, it became distorted and warped.
That Chaos lasted for less than a second before gradually returning to normal. But Xu Wuyi knew he had succeeded. If an enemy had truly been standing in that void, the Order upon their body would have been broken the very instant this spear struck them. The circulation of their Qi and Blood would lose its regularity, the flow of their consciousness would plunge into Chaos, and their perception capabilities would drop drastically. How much combat strength could an enemy in such a state possibly retain?
He retracted his spear and stood upright, letting out a long breath. He had pondered this spear strike for a long time and attempted it many times, and now, he had finally grasped the knack of it. This method of disrupting an enemy’s Order was actually something he had already mastered in the past; he could even use it before advancing to Grandmaster. However, attaching it to his Martial Arts was an entirely different concept.
He stood in the center of the training ground, firmly gripping the Liaoyuan Long Spear in his hands, his eyes closed and his body perfectly still.
