Chapter 716 - 695: Sweeping the Profound Abyssal Rift

Time passed quickly. In the blink of an eye, Xu Wuyi had been in Red River for over two months.

In early September, the weather in Red River began to cool. The morning mist shrouded the entire city, and the distant mountains loomed faintly within it, resembling a light ink landscape painting.

The leaves of the old locust tree in Shanshui Manor had started to yellow. Occasionally, a few fallen leaves drifted down, twirling in the morning breeze before finally settling on the ground in a thin layer.

Xu Wuyi continued to maintain his unwavering daily routine—day in and day out, simple and highly disciplined.

Over these past two months, his understanding of Order Rules had deepened even further. His Spear Technique had thoroughly integrated into his combat instincts. Aside from using "Chaos" to disrupt the order within an enemy’s body, he had developed two additional moves. The first was "Breaking Skill," used to seal Spiritual Power. The second was "Blood Breaking," used to seal the circulation of Qi and Blood. Each move had its unique purpose and had been refined to perfection through countless repetitions.

At this moment, Xu Wuyi stood in the center of the training room, holding the Liaoyuan Long Spear. His eyes were closed, and he remained completely motionless. The surroundings were so quiet that he could hear his own heartbeat. He opened his eyes, his gaze landing on the training dummy in front of him.

It was a newly replaced dummy made of metal, its surface covered with a soft material to simulate the tactile feel of a human body. Taking a deep breath, he raised the long spear. The thrust was slow—so slow it barely appeared to be moving. Yet, his Spirit was entirely concentrated at the tip of the spear as he sensed the short distance between it and the dummy.

Then, he stepped forward and thrust.

The moment the spear tip pierced the dummy’s chest, his Spirit erupted with full force. The Power of Order surged from his sea of consciousness, flowing down his arm, along the shaft, and into the tip of the spear. Unlike before, he did not allow the Power of Order to disrupt the dummy’s internal order. Instead, he shaped it into an invisible wall—a wall designed to seal away Spiritual Power.

Since the dummy couldn’t move and possessed no Spiritual Power, he couldn’t directly witness the effect of this strike. However, he could feel that in that very instant, the spiritual fluctuations in the space surrounding the dummy vanished completely. It was like a lamp being suddenly snuffed out, or a voice being abruptly silenced. It was a sensation hard to describe, yet undeniably real.

He retracted his spear, took a few steps back, and closed his eyes to perceive the area with his own Spirit.

There was nothing.

The faint, barely perceptible spiritual fluctuations that should have existed were now entirely wiped clean. The area felt as though it had been completely isolated by something; no Spiritual Power could enter, nor could any leave.

This was "Breaking Skill."

It sealed away all Spiritual Power, even blocking Xu Wuyi’s own, forcing both sides to rely solely on the purest clash of Qi and Blood. This was Order—a rule that even Xu Wuyi himself had to obey in order to ensure his opponent could not break it. He opened his eyes and looked at the dummy, nodding in satisfaction.

He had practiced this strike for a full month. From initially only managing to barely seal a small area, he could now precisely control the range and duration. Every step of progress was earned through countless repetitions. Taking another deep breath, he raised the long spear once more. The spear tip plunged into the dummy’s chest again, and the Power of Order surged forth. This time, however, it didn’t form a wall to block Spiritual Power, but rather chains to seal the circulation of Qi and Blood.

Qi and Blood were the source of a Martial Artist’s strength. Once its circulation was sealed, the Martial Artist would lose their fundamental source of power, forcing them to fight relying purely on Spiritual Power. For opponents who depended heavily on Physical Strength, this move was fatal.

He retracted his spear, gazing at the dummy as a wondrous feeling welled up in his heart. These two moves of his Spear Technique, combined with the previous "Chaos," formed a perfectly complete system. "Chaos" was used to destroy the enemy’s order and plunge them into disarray; "Breaking Skill" was used to seal Spiritual Power, forcing the enemy to clash with Qi and Blood; and "Blood Breaking" was used to seal the circulation of Qi and Blood, forcing the enemy to rely on their Spirit. Three different applications perfectly corresponded to three distinct combat scenarios.

He put down the long spear, walked over to a chair in the corner, sat down, and took a few sips from his water cup.

Anna’s voice rang in his ears.

"Grandmaster Xu Wuyi, your training for today is complete. The success rate for all three moves of your Spear Technique has reached over ninety-eight percent, and your average execution time has shortened by 0.3 seconds compared to yesterday."

Xu Wuyi nodded wordlessly.

He knew Anna was telling the truth. The systematic training over the past two months had allowed him to progress at a speed far exceeding his expectations. Setting his cup down, he stood back up and walked to the center of the training room.

There was still one more thing left to do.

He recalled the little tricks the Flame Venerable had used during their sparring sessions in the West Desert. Sometimes, the man would abruptly alter his application of rules, catching Xu Wuyi completely off guard. Other times, he would intentionally expose a flaw to bait Xu Wuyi into attacking, only to counterattack at the very last second. He would also employ various minor techniques to interfere with Xu Wuyi’s judgment, such as using Flame to create illusions or utilizing intense heat to distort the surrounding air.

Many of these tricks were not profound techniques, but when applied at the perfect moment, they yielded unexpected effects. At the time, he had wondered what it would be like if he could incorporate this way of thinking into his own Spear Technique. Now, he finally had the time to properly ponder the matter.

He closed his eyes, replaying those little tricks in his mind. The core of these techniques lay in utilizing the inherent Traits of the rules themselves to create effects that made Prejudgment nearly impossible.
