Chapter 732: Chapter 697: One-Man Army

Over the next three days, everything went smoothly.

The Energy Neutralization Device operated systematically. Precisely calculated energy beams continuously bombarded the Rift’s weak points, causing the dark red fissure to shrink at a visible rate.

It went from a massive Rift that initially spanned the sky and earth down to a few dozen meters long, and then to just a dozen…

By the evening of the fourth day, the Rift had shrunk to less than ten meters. Like a wound that could heal at any moment, it emitted a faint glow under the setting sun.

Shen Jin stood before the Rift, watching the technicians busily adjusting parameters. A rare look of satisfaction appeared on his face.

“At this rate, it’ll be completely closed in another three days,” he said.

Ren Bai stood beside him and nodded. “Smoother than expected. The energy reactions behind the Rift have remained stable. Ever since that Tiger-shaped Beast King died, the remaining Star Beasts seem to have settled down a lot.”

Shen Jin murmured in agreement, shifting his gaze to Xu Wuyi, who was sitting cross-legged not far away.

The young man had his eyes closed, his breathing slow and steady, as the Power of Order faintly lingered around him. Over the past few days, he had been setting aside time each day to sit and meditate, recovering the Power of Heart Image he had expended in that battle.

“How is the kid recovering?” Shen Jin asked.

Ren Bai followed his gaze and smiled. “I asked him yesterday. He said he has mostly recovered. His recovery speed is much faster than an ordinary Grandmaster.”

Shen Jin nodded and said nothing more.

Just then, someone suddenly cried out in alarm.

“There’s a change in the Rift!”

Shen Jin and Ren Bai turned their heads simultaneously, looking at the Rift that had shrunk to less than ten meters.

The originally calm, dark red fissure was now twisting violently. The light on its surface flickered wildly, shifting from dark red to bright red, and then from bright red to a blinding white.

Immediately after, terrifying Energy Fluctuations surged out from the depths of the Rift, as if something were desperately trying to squeeze its way out.

“A Beast Tide!” Ren Bai’s expression turned grave. “It’s a Beast Tide, and a massive one at that!”

The moment he spoke, the Rift suddenly expanded.

Countless hideous figures squeezed out from the fissure, scrambling over one another to pour into the real world.

Blade-toothed Beasts, Red Fang Beasts, Bone Spike Beasts, Poisonous Miasma Beasts… Various types of Star Beasts roared as they landed, their scarlet eyes instantly locking onto everything around them.

Meanwhile, in the center of the horde, four exceptionally massive figures slowly stood up.

They were four Great Commanders.

One Rock Armor Commander stood over six meters tall, its entire body covered in heavy stone armor.

One Shadow Leopard Commander was entirely pitch-black, its movements as swift as the wind.

There were also two breeds Xu Wuyi had never seen before: one resembled a giant scorpion with its stinger raised high, while the other looked like a centipede over ten meters long, its densely packed legs enough to make one’s scalp tingle with dread.

Four Great Commanders, leading at least two thousand Star Beasts.

Ren Bai’s face darkened.

A Beast Tide of this scale was larger than any he had encountered before. If he were at his peak, he might have been able to handle it, but now, having expended a massive amount of energy, his strength was less than half of what it usually was.

Shen Jin remained silent, quietly observing the pouring Star Beasts. His hand was already resting on the hilt of the blade at his waist, waiting for the right moment to strike.

But right at that moment, a figure stepped out from the side, passing them and walking toward the Beast Tide.

It was Xu Wuyi.

He wasn’t walking fast, but his steps were steady, approaching the assembling beast horde step by step.

Seeing a human approach, the Star Beasts let out even more frenzied roars. Yet, instinctively sensing danger, they surprisingly didn’t pounce right away.

Shen Jin was momentarily taken aback before his brows furrowed slightly.

“What does this kid think he’s doing?” he said. “Taking on so many by himself?”

Ren Bai was also stunned.

He knew Xu Wuyi was immensely strong; he had witnessed with his own eyes when the young man slew that Ape-shaped Beast King in battle. But that had been a one-on-one fight. Now, there were over two thousand Star Beasts, along with four Great Commanders.

While a Grandmaster wouldn’t necessarily be threatened by these Star Beasts, the Beast Tide was currently surging outward. Preventing them from causing destruction was the top priority.

He wanted to call out to stop Xu Wuyi, but before the words could leave his mouth, Xu Wuyi had already arrived less than a hundred meters away from the horde.

Then, he stopped and raised his right hand.

Ren Bai clearly saw that in that very instant, an invisible force rippled out from Xu Wuyi’s body.

Wherever that power reached, the flow of air began to slow down, and the propagation of light became softer. Even the roars of the Star Beasts sounded as if they had been muffled by some unseen barrier.

Shen Jin narrowed his eyes.

As an expert at the third step of the Grandmaster realm, his understanding of the Rules was far above Ren Bai’s. The moment Xu Wuyi made his move, Shen Jin clearly sensed the nature of that power.

It was the Power of Order.

But it wasn’t an offensive Power of Order; it was a much more exquisite application.

Unlike last time, Xu Wuyi didn’t directly “deconstruct” the Star Beasts. Instead, he wove the Power of Order into a gigantic net, enveloping the entire beast horde within it.

The net was thin—so thin it was practically nonexistent. However, it had a specific effect: it made every single Star Beast feel as though it had been locked onto, watched, and targeted.

That sensation instilled an instinctual fear into the Star Beasts.

They halted their charge and began looking around uneasily, trying to find the target that was locking onto them. But they couldn’t find it, because what was locking onto them wasn’t a specific person, but an omnipresent net.
