High Martial Arts: Enlightenment after Practices
Chapter 760: 10,000 Times of "True Enlightenment", Self-Created Cultivation Technique
He took a deep breath and resumed the Starting Form. Regardless of the outcome, he would just do it first.
First repetition, second repetition, third repetition… He continued to practice. His movements remained steady and fluid, without any changes.
Fiftieth repetition, sixtieth repetition, seventieth repetition… Time ticked by. Outside the window, the sunlight shifted from the east to the zenith, then slowly slanted westward. The light in the Cultivation Room gradually dimmed, but Xu Wuyi did not stop.
When the one hundredth repetition was completed, the familiar clear stream descended once more.
[Effective Cultivation today has reached 100 times. Obtained one “Enlightenment.”]
A profound torrent of insights swept through his consciousness, deepening his understanding of the Basic Body Refining Technique. However, that deepening was limited. After all, he had already cultivated this Cultivation Technique to Perfection; there was only so much deeper it could go.
The Enlightenment lasted for a dozen seconds before slowly receding. Xu Wuyi opened his eyes and continued to practice.
Two hundredth repetition, three hundredth repetition, four hundredth repetition… The sky grew increasingly dark, and tens of thousands of lights lit up outside the window. On the distant river, the lights of pleasure boats reflected in the water, gently swaying with the waves. Xu Wuyi didn’t look. His entire attention was concentrated on his Cultivation.
Eight hundredth repetition, nine hundredth repetition, one thousandth repetition. The instant he completed the one thousandth repetition, an even more majestic torrent of insights surged in.
[Effective Cultivation today has reached 1,000 times. Obtained one “Great Enlightenment.”]
This time, the insights were far stronger than before. Countless details regarding the Basic Body Refining Technique collided, merged, and sublimated in his mind. Those movements he already knew inside out now seemed to be disassembled and restructured into something entirely new.
The Great Enlightenment lasted for nearly a minute before slowly receding. Xu Wuyi opened his eyes and let out a long breath. The effects of the Great Enlightenment were indeed much stronger than Enlightenment, but for his current Realm, it was merely icing on the cake. Perfection was Perfection; no matter how much he comprehended, he couldn’t grasp anything new.
He didn’t stop and continued to practice.
One thousand one hundredth repetition, one thousand two hundredth repetition, one thousand three hundredth repetition… His body wasn’t tired, but his Spirit began to fatigue. That kind of dull repetition, over and over without an end in sight, was the most draining on a person’s Will.
But Xu Wuyi didn’t stop. His movements remained standard, and his Heart and Spirit remained focused. The habits he had formed over a dozen years allowed him to maintain precision in his actions even when he was most exhausted.
Three thousandth repetition, five thousandth repetition, seven thousandth repetition… Night fell, and the entire city gradually quieted down. Only the occasional sound of passing cars proved that the city was still functioning. Xu Wuyi was still undergoing his Cultivation; he continued his practice.
Eight thousandth repetition, nine thousandth repetition, nine thousand five hundredth repetition…
Nine thousand eight hundredth repetition. Nine thousand nine hundredth repetition. Nine thousand nine hundred and ninety-ninth repetition.
It was already past ten o’clock at night. His efficiency was somewhat higher than he had imagined, which was all thanks to his movements after reaching the Grandmaster Realm being sufficiently standard and concise.
Xu Wuyi stopped his movements, stood in place, and took a deep breath. He inhaled deeply, drawing out the breath until his chest felt completely full of air. Then he slowly exhaled and resumed the Starting Form.
The ten thousandth repetition. Holding the Essence and Guarding the One, sinking shoulders and dropping elbows, relaxing the waist and tucking the buttocks. His Qi and Blood circulated, guided by his intention, his movements expansive and fluid.
The moment the final movement was completed—within his sea of consciousness, that Bronze Ancient Book suddenly lit up. A light far deeper and grander than both Enlightenment and Great Enlightenment surged from the ancient book, instantly flooding his entire consciousness.
That was not a torrent of insights. It was something deeper, an indescribable “vision.”
He saw a person. That person, dressed in crude, rough clothes, stood in the middle of a wilderness. There was no Cultivation Room, no Training Ground, not even any decent tools. He just stood there, assuming the posture of Holding the Essence and Guarding the One. Then he began to practice.
Bow Step Punch, Horse Stance Strike, Drop Stance Piercing Palm. Every movement was exactly the same as the Basic Body Refining Technique, but the feeling was completely different. That wasn’t practicing Martial Arts; that was survival.
Every punch that person threw was a fight against wild beasts. Every strike was to block an enemy’s attack. Every piercing palm was to find an opponent’s flaw. As Xu Wuyi watched that person, an indescribable feeling welled up in his heart.
He understood. That was no one else but the original Creator of the Basic Body Refining Technique. Or rather, it was the source of all basic Martial Arts.
Although the Basic Body Refining Technique was jointly deduced by the Federation Grandmasters, its internal Martial Arts movements and principles had actually existed since ancient times, rather than being created out of thin air. In that distant era, there were no profound Cultivation Techniques and no exquisite skills, only the simplest and most direct survival instincts.
Every single one of those seemingly simple movements had been summarized from life-and-death struggles. The Bow Step Punch was to attack the enemy from the furthest distance, the Horse Stance Strike was to exert force in the most stable state, and the Drop Stance Piercing Palm was to seek opportunities in the most flexible posture. Behind every movement was a human life.
The experience exchanged with the lives of countless ancestors was passed down from generation to generation, optimized generation after generation, and ultimately became this seemingly simple yet actually profound Basic Body Refining Technique. This was the Martial Arts Profound Meaning. It wasn’t a skill, nor was it a Heart Method. Rather, it was the Will to survive in the harshest of environments using the most primitive methods.
The vision dissipated, and Xu Wuyi slowly opened his eyes. He stood in place, his entire body feeling transparent and clear, as if he had been completely reborn. In his sea of consciousness, that Bronze Ancient Book had returned to tranquility, but a faint line of text had appeared on its pages.
