High Martial Arts: Grinding for the Supreme Talent
Chapter 525 - 499: Secrets
Chapter 525: Chapter 499: Secrets
Director Fu took a sip of hot tea, savoring its flavor before speaking:
"Of course. The gap between geniuses is even wider than you can imagine."
"SS-class talents have a chance to break through to the Ninth Realm, to say nothing of SSS-level talents, who will most likely be able to."
"As long as they have enough resources and time, the number of Ninth Realm Martial Artists won’t be small."
"But the difference in power among Ninth Realm Martial Artists can be immense."
"And the Ten Thousand Beasts Blood Pillar can distinguish these differences in talent, dividing geniuses into four tiers."
"Most SSS-level talents can only comprehend the techniques of Eleventh-Level Calamity Beasts. Even a Martial Artist who has awakened two Talents isn’t guaranteed to comprehend one from a Twelfth-Level Calamity Beast."
"Only the absolute top tier of geniuses—those who have awakened two Abilities and possess extremely strong Cultivation Talent and Comprehension—are capable of comprehending a Cultivation Technique from a Twelfth-Level Calamity Beast."
"As for the six beings at the very top of the Ten Thousand Beasts Blood Pillar, only 10 people have succeeded in the last several decades."
"You know their titles: Emperor Red and Overlord from our Xia Country."
"The War God of the White Eagle Federation, the Emperor of Ice and Snow of the Bear Country, and the Venerable Ganges River of Tianzhu Country."
"Every single one of them is the undisputed strongest person in their respective nation."
"Even among the Ninth Realm, they are in a league of their own."
Lin Qi nodded. Everyone Director Fu mentioned was the strongest in their respective nation.
They were also globally recognized as the five most powerful people in the world.
Director Fu continued:
"As for the other five, they are the current top five on the rankings."
"And three of them are from our Xia Country, which makes the other nations burn with envy."
Lin Qi took a sip of his tea and motioned for Director Fu to pour him some more.
"Lin Qi, it’s been said that anyone who can comprehend a Top Level Demon Beast Technique is destined to become one of the ten strongest people in the world."
"The future of human civilization is destined to be led by your generation. I hope you cherish your Talent."
"The future of the Human Race rests on your shoulders."
Lin Qi nodded and then asked,
"Director Fu, I have a question."
"In the Cultivation Technique I comprehended, the Calamity Beast I observed was called the Golden Emperor Tiger."
"But in the manual, it’s referred to as a member of the Demon Race, not a Calamity Beast..."
Lin Qi briefly relayed the information about the Golden Emperor Tiger from the technique and voiced his confusion:
"Is their true name the Demon Race, rather than Calamity Beasts?"
Director Fu nodded after listening.
"I see. So you’ve learned of the Demon Race’s existence."
"Actually, we’ve known about the Demon Race for a long time. It was Emperor Red who told us."
"Calamity Beasts are Calamity Beasts, and the Demon Race is the Demon Race. They are not the same."
"Calamity Beasts lack sapience, while Demons are sapient. And they are much more powerful."
"According to our speculation, Calamity Beasts are like subordinates to the Demon Race, subject to bloodline suppression and possibly even direct control."
"The most powerful Calamity Beasts are Ninth-Level Calamity Beasts."
"From Level 10 onward, they are actually considered part of the Demon Race. That’s why they can control massive numbers of Calamity Beasts and start a Disaster Beast Tide."
"To them, the Calamity Beasts are little more than cannon fodder."
After listening, Lin Qi’s questions were answered.
Director Fu spoke again,
"Lin Qi, you’ve probably figured it out by now."
"The cosmos is vast. We humans on Blue Star are not the only ones; the Human Race exists on other planets as well."
"And they possess far more advanced civilizations and greater power."
"Besides them, there are the Calamity Beasts, the Insect Race, the Human Race, and the newly discovered Demon Race."
"The Calamity Beasts and the Insect Race are both enemies of humanity, and there may be even more enemies in the future."
"But for now, the Human Race has only reached the Ninth Realm. The very existence of the Demon Race indicates that their Realms far surpass the Ninth."
"If a being of that level were to appear on Blue Star, we would be unable to resist."
"That’s why Emperor Red and the others are constantly shouldering this unknown pressure, never ceasing their pursuit of greater strength."
"But to this day, we still don’t know how to break through to the Tenth Realm."
"And because we feared causing a panic among the populace, we never publicly announced the existence of the Demon Race."
"We’ve only started to gradually release this information with the recent arrival of Tenth-Level Calamity Beasts."
Lin Qi nodded. He could imagine the anxiety the top experts must feel.
In his past life, he had seen plenty of novels, anime, and films.
He accepted the existence of the Demon Race exceptionally quickly.
But acceptance was one thing. Since there was no trace of them yet, he wasn’t particularly worried.
Still, it was wise to prepare for a rainy day, and he needed to get ready for the future.
Director Fu set down his teacup and said,
"Much of what we just discussed I’ve only told you because you’re an SSS-level talent."
"Many of these details are things that even Seventh Realm Martial Artists don’t necessarily know."
"Don’t feel too much pressure."
"The Otherworld has existed for who knows how many years. The unknown branches of the Human Race, the Demon Race—these could be matters from hundreds of millions of years ago."
"Our current enemy is still the Calamity Beasts. What you need to do now is focus on your Cultivation and develop your own unique Gang Power."
Lin Qi nodded. "I understand!"
He was just a Martial Artist who had recently broken through to the Seventh Realm. The Demon Race was still a distant concern for him.
...
Lin Qi and Director Fu chatted for over two more hours, finishing off the director’s entire pouch of tea leaves.
Director Fu was born in 1984 of the Martial Arts Calendar and had lived through an entire era.
He knew many secrets of the past, and hearing about those events was a real eye-opener for Lin Qi. He learned a great deal, their relationship grew closer, and they even added each other on WeComm.
...
After Lin Qi left, Director Fu was the only one left in the office.
He poured himself another cup of hot tea and murmured with a sigh,
’I can’t believe I misjudged him!’
’To think he could master a cultivation method from one of the six Top Level Demon Beasts without having Awakened three Special Abilities.’
’Or perhaps it just hasn’t awakened yet. It must be a latent awakening. His third Special Ability might only manifest in the future.’
’But even so, his potential is even higher than I imagined.’
’In a few years, he might even be stronger than me.’
’I hope we see more and more geniuses like him.’
After muttering to himself for a while, he took out his smartphone and sent messages to a few of his WeComm contacts.
...
Lin Qi returned to his room, 305, in the Ten Thousand Beasts House.
"Little Chan, project my notes!"
"Yes, Master!"
The blue metallic sphere projected an image of Little Chan and then displayed a panel.
Lin Qi began to write on the panel, recording the Blood Exchange Chapter from the Golden Emperor’s Secret Manual and leaving some notes.
He also made a rough record of his conversation with Director Fu.
After summarizing everything, he sent a message to Dean Liu, asking him to come pick him up tomorrow.
Then he took a quick shower and went to bed.
...
「Celestial Vault Institute」
Inside a villa in the Star Residence.
In the Martial Arts Room, Dean Liu sat cross-legged in a white robe, surrounded by gusts of powerful wind.
A large amount of Source Energy entered his body and was absorbed.
A moment later, he slowly opened his eyes.
He sighed and said,
’My physical talent is still insufficient. Even in an excellent environment like the Celestial Vault Institute, my Qi and Blood Value hasn’t increased much after cultivating for so long.’
’Without any Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures, if I keep cultivating like this, it might take me decades before I can even touch the threshold of the Eighth Realm.’
’But if I were to trade for a Blood Spirit Potion, I might be able to undergo a fourth Blood Exchange and break through to the Eighth Realm!’
The Blood Spirit Potion was a Potion made with Blood Ganoderma as the main ingredient.
Its effects were not as potent as the Blood Ganoderma itself, but it could temper the blood and greatly increase one’s Qi and Blood Value.
