Chapter 248 - 178: Senluo
Chapter 248: Chapter 178: Senluo
A hush fell over the rear garden of the Qiankun Daoist Temple.
The matter of the Headless King weighed heavily on the minds of Lu Changfeng and the Qiankun Daoist.
Neither of them could accept the news that the Profound Realm only had a ten-year ’lifespan’ remaining.
"Now, how about you tell me about your origins? You’ve been hiding in the Song Territory for so many years. I imagine you’ve gathered plenty of information on me by now," Lu Changfeng said, breaking the silence.
After their earlier conversation, the Qiankun Daoist had begun to see Lu Changfeng as his equal.
He began to explain his origins.
It turned out that the Qiankun Daoist had come from beyond the Polar Icefield of the Western Capital Prefecture.
The lands on the other side of the Profound Realm’s Polar Icefield had fractured into over a dozen nations, with wars breaking out almost daily.
The Qiankun Daoist was originally royalty from one of these kingdoms and harbored ambitions of unifying the world.
However, after inheriting a ’Human King’s legacy’ and learning the truth about the Profound Realm’s situation, the Qiankun Daoist naturally lost interest in such worldly ambitions.
His every waking moment was consumed by thoughts of how to break through to a higher Realm and survive the ’Day Count Reset’.
From the Qiankun Daoist, Lu Changfeng learned the titles of the Profound Realm’s three great Human Kings.
’Fuu Huo,’ ’Tianyue,’ and ’Demon Miasma.’
The Qiankun Daoist’s legacy came from the ’Fuu Huo Human King,’ the only one of the three great Human Kings who specialized in Martial Arts Arrays.
Based on the Qiankun Daoist’s account, Lu Changfeng deduced that the woman at the bottom of Fengtian Lake must be the ’Tianyue Human King,’ and the Human King in the Hundred Thousand Mountains was the ’Demon Miasma Human King.’
In other words, the one Lu Changfeng and the Qiankun Daoist had to face in ten years was the ’Demon Miasma Human King.’
"Could we awaken ’Fuu Huo’ or ’Tianyue’ to fight ’Demon Miasma’?"
"That won’t work either. The awakening of a single Human King is enough to drain the Profound Realm’s Heaven and Earth Primordial Energy. If one or two more were to awaken, I’m afraid the path of Martial Arts in the Profound Realm would be completely severed." Lu Changfeng shot down his own proposal.
The Qiankun Daoist seemed to recall something and spoke up. "In the legacy I received, information about the other two Human Kings was only mentioned in passing, but it never said that the ’Demon Miasma Human King’ was headless."
"Furthermore, my Master stated in the legacy that the three great Human Kings had an agreement not to awaken until after the Day Count Reset, when the count began anew."
"Could it be that something unexpected happened to the ’Demon Miasma Human King’?"
Lu Changfeng and the Qiankun Daoist exchanged a glance. Given the current situation, they had no choice but to go to the Hundred Thousand Mountains and investigate for themselves.
"It seems we’ll have to go there ourselves to see what’s really going on."
"Give me some time to prepare. By the way, Saint Master, do you have any spare Primordial Stones? I am willing to pay a price to trade for some."
’Primordial Stones?’ Lu Changfeng suddenly recalled the task the ’Demon Miasma Human King’ had given Xu Fan: to prepare one hundred Primordial Stones within ten years.
"Is the primary use of Primordial Stones for Martial Arts Arrays? Just how important are they for the arrays?" Lu Changfeng asked.
The Qiankun Daoist paused, slightly taken aback. "You’re right. Primordial Stones are, in a manner of speaking, the cornerstone of Martial Arts Arrays. With enough of them, I can make the surrounding Heaven and Earth Primordial Energy ten times richer!"
Lu Changfeng’s expression remained unchanged, but a few theories about the Headless King were already forming in his mind.
"I do have some Primordial Stones I’ve collected. What do you have to trade for them?" Lu Changfeng said slowly.
The Qiankun Daoist mulled it over. He had very few things that would be valuable enough to trade with Lu Changfeng.
The only thing he possessed that could possibly tempt Lu Changfeng was his knowledge of Martial Arts Arrays.
"How about I teach you the fundamentals of Martial Arts Arrays in exchange for ten Primordial Stones?"
Fearing Lu Changfeng might not find the deal worthwhile, the Qiankun Daoist added, "Primordial Stones aren’t just for cultivation. If arranged correctly, they can form a Killing Array. We’ll definitely have a use for that when we go to the Hundred Thousand Mountains."
"Five Primordial Stones," Lu Changfeng countered. "In the Outer Chaos World, knowledge of Basic Martial Arts Arrays is a dime a dozen."
The Qiankun Daoist gritted his teeth. "Eight. That’s the absolute minimum. The Outer Chaos World is one thing, but we are currently inside the Profound Realm. And here, I am the only one who possesses a complete system of knowledge on Basic Martial Arts Arrays."
Lu Changfeng nodded in agreement.
...
「Several hours later, in a side hall of the Holy Palace.」
Lu Changfeng was studying a manual he held in his hands.
He had made the trade with the Qiankun Daoist, exchanging eight Primordial Stones for this manual, *Basic Martial Arts Array*.
As instructed in *Basic Martial Arts Array*, Lu Changfeng gathered the basic tools for drawing arrays: Cinnabar and a Spiritual Brush.
Cinnabar was the simplest substance capable of circulating Heaven and Earth Primordial Energy, and the Spiritual Brush was made from the wing feathers of a member of the Demon Race.
’Martial Arts Arrays... their difficulty is truly extraordinary.’
The Array pattern on the Jade Plate before Lu Changfeng looked like a messy scribble.
’My Martial Arts Talent and Root Bone aren’t bad by any means,’ Lu Changfeng thought to himself, ’but when it comes to this Martial Arts Array, I’m still completely lost.’
’The Qiankun Daoist must have a corresponding talent for Martial Arts Arrays. Once my bloodline fusion is complete, I’ll have to copy that talent from him.’
’Otherwise, if I really have to spend decades mastering this Martial Arts Array, it’ll probably be useless by the time the Profound Realm begins its decline,’ Lu Changfeng mused.
Closing the *Basic Martial Arts Array* manual, Lu Changfeng shifted his focus to his original body.
[Ancient Chaos Demon Dragon 45%], Fusion Progress: 75%.
The bloodline fusion was now mostly complete.
Spurred on by this wisp of Ancient Bloodline, Lu Changfeng’s own realm had already reached the peak of the Fourth Layer Golden Bone Realm.
