Chapter 3079: Chapter 92: The One from the Future

When the new headmaster of Edge Academy tried to use the matter of transfer students to thwart Old Yao.

The Dean of Jiuyou Academy wasn’t focused on such trivial matters.

This morning, he cast a thought into Elder Ruoyu’s office, dismissing everyone, including those oddly-shaped stone carvings in the office, before looking solemnly at the withered little old man behind the desk.

"——Is there anything happening at the school that I need not be aware of?"

His wording was extremely cautious.

This is understandable; being a legendary figure originating from a Great Demon, entering the school as the dean was a shocking event in itself. If the school hadn’t taken any precautions without him, it would be a strange matter.

But prevention is one thing.

His sense of unease is another.

Elder Ruoyu clutched the silver wolf-headed cane, silently lowering his eyelids, murmuring, "——So, you feel something is amiss too? Well, your instinct for danger is often sharper than that of a wizard."

This response made Old Yao immediately realize that his unease was unrelated to the school. But what could simultaneously affect two legendary figures without being perceived, other than those beings above legends?

The Dean of Jiuyou Academy immediately frowned.

"——Who is it?"

He discreetly glanced upward, his gaze seemingly piercing through the heavy ceiling, landing in a very distant place: "Starry Sky? Or somewhere else?"

Discussions involving Ancient Ones require extra caution. Especially since they are all legendary beings, every word they utter carries immense magic power, making it easier for those Ancient Ones to perceive them.

Elder Ruoyu shook his head.

"I don’t know."

His expression held a rare trace of confusion, his voice very light, as if even a slightly heavier gaze could shred these words to pieces: "——Initially, I thought it was some omen of the headmaster’s departure, but I noticed the headmaster of Edge Academy didn’t feel this anomaly. And this sensation is different from those few others..."

The ’few others’ he referred to were naturally those seven Ancient Ones.

"——Yi JiaZi told me a few days ago, the star signs have changed."

Professor Yao suddenly spoke, interrupting Elder Ruoyu: "Though star signs have been unstable over the years, according to his observations, changes of this magnitude have not appeared since after the Black Prison War."

This statement was already very straightforward.

After the last Black Prison War, a slightly pale new star rose from that wasteland-like world, altering the entire starry sky’s configuration, causing all published star maps by the Alliance to be declared obsolete, making all students at the First University forfeit three periods for ’New Astrology’.

Implicitly, the unease they sensed meant that this world had birthed another Ancient One.

"——But what puzzles Yi JiaZi is that the change in star signs this time hasn’t affected the divination studies." Old Yao unconsciously took out a pipe, stuffed it into his mouth, and after a puff, added: "As if the new star is a shadow...or, that new star hasn’t yet risen? Who do you think is most likely to advance?"

He exhaled a thick plume of smoke, his tone carrying a trace of involuntary admiration and sentiment.

Unlike Old Yao, who had advanced not long ago, Elder Ruoyu, as one of the oldest qualified legends in the Alliance, was well-acquainted with the dozens of legends existing, naturally making it easier to speculate on the candidate for advancement.

But contrary to Old Yao’s expectations, Elder Ruoyu actually shook his head.

"None of them."

He rubbed the silver-white wolf head in his hand, his tone carrying a bit of pondering: "In recent days, I’ve already spoken with all the old fellows who might advance...everyone seems normal. However, you mentioned that new star might be a shadow, which reminded me of another possibility..."

He paused, his gaze falling on the spread-out "Dimension Theory" on the desk, lowering his voice: "——That is, that new star exists in another dimension."

...

...

The depths of Silent Forest.

A clearing in the forest.

A seated old panda under a Return Soul Poplar swayed the food bowl in its hand, the reflections of the two legends of the First University in the clear water rippling into quiet shattered fragments.

Then it looked up, at a figure that suddenly appeared in front.

"——Don’t ask me, I don’t know either." The old panda shook its head like a rattle, making the big tree behind it tremble softly.

The figure that appeared abruptly was a tall Elder Wizard, his hair and beard all white, holding a long wooden staff, dressed in a simple white robe.

Upon hearing this, the Elder Wizard frowned: "——The only person staying on Buji Island during this time is you. If not you, then who?"

The panda grinned.

"——Surely not Nya’s Child and the other two. You could let them devour a star domain, but to perform such refined maneuvers amid dimensions, impossible. R’lyeh has advanced not long ago, and doesn’t possess such capabilities. The Demon Ancestor might be possible, but it just greeted me, so it’s not them...for a time it thought it was backstabbed again, nearly slaughtered its own few legendary demons."

Abraham didn’t find this misunderstanding amusing, frowning, offering another guess: "Could it be due to the headmaster’s departure, someone outside entered?"

He felt this was the most probable possibility.

The panda remained silent for a long time.

Long enough for the water in the food bowl to calm again, reflecting the colors of the boundless starry sky.

"——Regarding what’s outside, you don’t know, nor do I." The old panda shook its head, staring at its food bowl, and sighed deeply: "The headmaster might know, but he has already departed...however, since you mentioned that old fellow, it reminded me of one of his speculations."

"What speculation?"

"You also know, when Ancient Ones become Ancient Ones, they automatically ’fill in’ already closed timeliness, selecting those fitting his existence and concept time nodes, stringing his existence from old to present. In other words, when he becomes ancient, in our known and even unknown history, is also an Ancient One..."

"Get to the point!"

"——Don’t interrupt!"

The old panda glared at him angrily, stopped, and then spoke again: "That old fellow guessed, if one moves backward, proving Ancient One in the future, unlike us ’current manifestations’. Because he needs to validate his presence in infinite futures, this means he can’t be in the present like us. If using now as a dividing point, if we are termed ’Ancient Ones’, then another path might be termed ’Future Entity’."
