Chapter 3081: Chapter 94: Analysis
Chen Ailin is the magician of the North American Team.
Considered half a brain of the team — the other half being the captain Villand.
When the prompt from the Main God sounded in her ears, she had already begun to look around, surveying the place where they had landed. As far as the eye could see, it was an oval-shaped conference room, with a hard bone-like floor beneath her feet, and an equally oval conference table in front of her. The soft, warm, pale walls around felt like they were made of some creature’s skin. There were a few round windows on the walls, but perhaps because the task hadn’t started yet, everything outside was pitch black, nothing visible.
Such initial arrangements in most task worlds are considered friendly, so Chen Ailin’s emotions didn’t waver at all.
Not until she counted the number of newcomers, a full ten, did her eye twitch fiercely.
It’s widely known that the simplest way Main God Space judges task difficulty is by the number of newcomers. If there’s only one newcomer, it means the task is the easiest, and so forth.
It’s said that the highest task difficulty is at the ten-newcomer level.
This saying has never been confirmed by any reincarnation team. Most likely, reincarnators who’ve encountered the ten-person difficulty have already died out. The North American Team is one of the strongest in all of Reincarnation Space, but even in their worst task, there were only eight newcomers.
In that task, not a single newcomer survived, and even two older third-tier team members fell unfortunately.
So, realizing that the North American Team faced a death task this time, she immediately drew out the astrology plate and began deducing it based on part of the Main God’s prompt. But until the prompt ended, she couldn’t calculate anything.
Every possibility existed, and they could corroborate each other.
The path of life and the path of death entangled as one.
It seemed the whole team would be wiped out in the next second, but simultaneously, they were safe and sound. This contradictory feeling made her magic power disorderly, unable to help but retch twice.
This voice also broke the silence in the conference room.
Villand raised his head, looking a bit tired.
"— Everyone, speak up."
He glanced at Chen Ailin, simply nodded, then turned to other senior members, indicating: "What are your thoughts on this task... and this world? Does anyone know this world?"
All around was silence.
Villand smiled self-deprecatingly: "— I should’ve guessed. Exploration-type world... It might be a world unfamiliar even to the Main God."
"No wonder."
Selena, in charge of intelligence and reconnaissance work usually, nodded thoughtfully, "I just felt it when listening to that string of mission prompts... The Main God is showing a bit of conservatism today."
"Tch!"
Lilith sneered, her voice somewhat hoarse: "Conservatism... Why not just say Main God feels scared? All generosity stems from guilt, Main God is no exception."
Such blasphemous words, perhaps only a fourth-tier powerhouse dares to say them boldly. Other third-tier veterans chuckled dryly, pretending not to hear.
"— Whether conservative or not isn’t clear, but don’t you think the task arrangement this time by Main God is a bit simple?"
Ivan rubbed the axe handle at his waist, scratched his bald head, speaking with a hint of skepticism: "You all heard just now, as long as we complete any one task, we can apply to leave this world... But among the ninety-plus tasks Main God gave us, not a single one has a punitive nature... There are even many tasks that only offer a few thousand reward points and D-level sub-plot missions! D-level sub-plot missions! Since I advanced to tier three, I haven’t taken a task of this level! Isn’t this a walk in the park, can be done with eyes closed?"
"Given that we can live to do D-level tasks."
Chen Ailin put away her astrology plate, glanced at the still silent captain, her face looking rather unpleasant: "The ninety-plus tasks you mentioned are all ’space special tasks’... This name, it’s my first time seeing it. The only ’main task’ that we’ve all seen and must complete is one — a ceremonial attendance. This is the premise for all tasks. I speculate this task should be a kind of ’identity determination’, if we successfully attend the ceremony, it should mean successful determination, enabling us to leave this world, or continue executing other tasks... If we cannot attend the ceremony, naturally there’s nothing to follow."
"Ceremony attendance? Is it just sitting idle on the observation platform during the opening ceremony? Seems not difficult."
"Ten newcomer-level difficulty, allowing you to sit idle on the observation platform, do you believe that?"
Daniel’s artificial eye flashed a faint blue light, his mechanical voice difficult to hide its mocking tone: "— Since when did Main God become a charity institution."
Ivan’s scalp turned somewhat red.
But before he could speak, Chen Ailin’s voice sounded again.
"Of course, Main God doesn’t do charity."
She warned with a glance at the Berserker, then glanced at Daniel on the other side, her voice already calming down: "A simple task, just giving C-level sub-plot rewards, is unreasonable. So a reasonable inference is, this task isn’t simple. And based on existing information, in the entire task, the only thing potentially troubling us should be the location of the observation platform, and how to blend into the observation platform..."
"No, no need to blend in."
The long silent North American Team captain spoke, interrupting the magician’s words, his voice carrying a bit of fatigue: "Main God arranged ’Shuoges Alien Mission’ identity for us... The conference room we’re in right now is inside the belly of the ’whale ray’, heading towards that First University. Theoretically, as long as the whale ray lands, we just follow the school’s procedures and can get onto the observation platform."
Along with the captain’s words.
Main God’s prompt confirming task identities also sounded in everyone’s ears.
Everyone fell silent.
Absurd.
Is everyone’s only thought — suitable identities, simple tasks, North American Team seems assigned to go through the motions, while Main God space determines the task as ten newcomer-level death difficulty.
"— In other words, Main God isn’t confident in the disguise identity he provided."
Lilith licked her crimson lips, a hint of excitement flashing in her eyes: "Tsk-tsk-tsk... This taste filled with the scent of death... is quite a familiar feeling."
"Should we divide the team?"
The always silent Jason glanced at Villand: "You follow Main God’s arranged identity to enter the school... I, Ailin, and Selena will take these newcomers to try other avenues."
