High School of Demon Hunting
Chapter 3085 - 98: Handling
Chapter 3085: Chapter 98: Handling
The moment the newcomer fell to the ground.
Villand clearly sensed the aura suspected to be fifth-tier swirling above the square, silently descending like mercury, engulfing everyone near the entrance.
Especially the deceased newcomer; in that instant, the invisible aura compressed the air around his corpse into tiny snowflake scars, which quickly dissipated.
In just a few seconds, Villand felt as if someone grabbed his ankles, submerging him in icy lake water.
He involuntarily shivered.
However, apart from the three fourth-tier members of the North American Team and the black cat lying on Zheng Su’s shoulder, the others showed no reaction.
A few seconds later, the aura receded.
Yet Villand could clearly feel the increased attention from the surrounding fourth-tier powerhouses towards the Shuoges Planet delegation.
The gaze of a powerhouse carries weight.
The cumulative focus made the atmosphere in the area much heavier, yet even so, many veterans from the North American Team failed to realize, thinking the sudden death caused the tense environment.
"—Ah! Someone died!"
An exclamation rose belatedly from the crowd.
A five-member wizard team swiftly departed the massive stone gate to the edge of the platform. Villand’s eyes flickered slightly—red, white, yellow, blue, green—in their distinctively colored robes, likely signifying five different factions within the school.
"—What happened?"
Stepping forward, the witch in the red robe held a bamboo slip, her tone stern.
"Apologies, one of our delegation members felt unwell...died suddenly."
Also wearing a blood-colored robe, Lilith looked at the witch with interest and replied politely—though her wording was slightly improper, it sharply contrasted with her usually erratic demeanor.
Veterans of the North American Team glanced over.
"Oh?"
The red robe witch examined the lifeless guest on the ground, her eyebrows slightly raised, and then glanced around at the Shuoges Mission members, her tone filled with surprise: "White Ding? Your delegation brought White Ding to the island?"
Behind her, the bald wizard in the yellow robe—Villand was unsure if he was a monk—stepped forward with compassion, seemingly intending to close the deceased’s eyes and offer a prayer.
But Jason, another fourth-tier powerhouse from the North American Team, swiftly retrieved the newcomer’s corpse before the yellow robe could touch it.
"—Sorry."
The polite apology came from the delegation leader: "According to our planet’s ancient customs, when one dies abroad, the body should be returned...it’s inconvenient for outsiders to touch."
Without knowing if the corpse might reveal the Main God Space, he couldn’t allow wizards from this world to come in contact with it.
"Additionally, didn’t your people just examine it?"
Villand extended his finger, meaningfully pointing at the sky, prompting the red robe witch and yellow robe bald to follow his gesture, exchanging glances.
"—These White Dings have poor physical constitutions, struggling to adapt to the excessively abundant magic power on Buji Island."
The wizard in the white robe glanced nonchalantly at the shivering newcomers within the North American Team, his tone carrying a hint of impatience: "We should suggest to the school to refuse these people entry...what’s the point of them attending the hunting party? It’s just a waste of life."
"Since the professors have no objections, there probably isn’t any abnormality to be found."
The blue gown’s stance was also clear: "...those Oak Knights representatives have too many branches, and brought many animals, wasting time at the entrance...this matter should just be recorded. Otherwise, it could affect the entry arrangements for the next delegation."
Only the green robe witch ignored the commotion, trotting to Zheng Su’s side, carefully asking if she was frightened.
Zheng Su looked somewhat upset, wringing her hands, standing aside, appearing somewhat at a loss.
Instead, the little fox lady seemed indifferent, poking the black cat on Zheng Su’s shoulder: "—Hey, scumbag! Why do those Oak Knights have so many branches on them?"
"Do you want to go back to the mansion and scrub the floors?"
The black cat swung its tail irritably, swatting away the little finger that poked it, yet didn’t refuse to answer the little fox lady’s question: "—Perhaps they feel it allows them to connect more closely with nature."
"—What was that person trying to say before he died?" The little fox lady’s attention shifted again.
At this, even the black cat was at a loss.
It turned to Villand.
The multicolored robe team also appropriately maintained silence.
"—Oh Lord, who would have thought I’d live to come to such a great school, Amen." Villand solemnly made the sign of the cross on his chest.
Behind him, other veterans and newcomers from the North American Team lifted their hands together, drawing crosses on their chests.
The yellow robe wizard scratched his bald head, saying nothing.
The expressions of the other young wizards were somewhat peculiar.
Villand wasn’t sure what he’d done wrong, somewhat anxiously lifting his head towards the towering stone gate, as if moved by its existence.
"—Eh?"
The little witch in the pale green robe snapped back to reality from her sorrow, seemingly perplexed, quickly flipping through her notebook, whispering to the transformed little fox beside her: "—I feel like this alien delegation should be handled by people from Atlas Academy, was there an allocation mistake?"
"Don’t concern yourself with the details."
The little fox lady assumed an old-fashioned demeanor, advising: "Every year for the school hunting competition, so many outsiders come, who remembers their situation...perhaps because this planet’s world is extremely remote, so Edge Academy was designated to host...if another academy was chosen, there might be contention; selecting you ensures there’s no disagreement."
*Cough!*
The red robe witch coughed awkwardly, nodding apologetically towards the green robe witch in her team, then turned to the Shuoges Mission representatives.
"—Such an event is tragic, my condolences."
She expressed a simple mourning to the delegation members before confirming the subsequent procedure: "When entering the ’First Gate’ later, there will be a magic detection process...even the dead must undergo another check. This is the school’s regulation, I hope you understand."
Dead people can accomplish many things.
Villand wasn’t surprised at the university’s level of caution, promptly and cooperatively nodding in agreement.
