High School Student with Immortal Race System
Chapter 248 - 246: We Will Meet Again
Six months later, on a reef in the Vast Sea, Yang Shen listened as the left dragon head slowly recounted its story.
So much had changed by the time they met again that Yang Shen couldn’t even detect any emotion in the deep, reverberating voice.
The left dragon head spoke slowly:
"I think... I am Yang Wen... and I think... I am not Yang Wen..."
"I am just a remnant soul... or perhaps a memory... I don’t know..."
The right dragon head said, "You are... I am too... We are all... human..."
The left dragon head closed its eyes, as if in silent rebuttal.
The middle dragon head also opened its mouth, but it only let out a meaningless draconic roar.
The "Lei Yiming" head lunged forward, biting at the middle head, and the two of them began to fight.
Every collision sounded like the dull thud of a war drum, and the resulting gusts of wind were so strong Yang Shen couldn’t even open his eyes.
"Uncle... what’s going on with the middle one?"
The left dragon head replied, "It is... the Dragon..."
It added, "But its mind... is not good..."
From "Yang Wen’s" perspective, everything was even more bewildering than it was for Yang Shen.
When he awoke, he found he had become one of three dragon heads, with no knowledge of the reason or the process. For a long time, even his thoughts were sluggish.
The middle head was dominant, seemingly the original owner of this terrifying body—or at least, the previous one.
But it probably wasn’t a true dragon soul. Cyan Blue had no such species. It was more like the soul of some beast, powerful but with little intelligence, surviving on instinct.
Although the middle head was dominant, it seemed unable to adapt to three souls sharing one body. It would alternate between periods of slumber and fits of rage.
"It" held an extreme loathing for certain people. Yang Wen and Lei Yiming later came to recognize them as the same group that had caused their deaths and who now constantly appeared to harass the "Dragon."
And each time, the "Dragon" would cause a huge commotion, yet it was also deeply wary of them.
Until one day, while the "Dragon" was slumbering, the Jade on its forehead was taken.
This caused it to go completely berserk, but it also suffered a grievous wound, becoming unable to suppress Yang Wen and Lei Yiming. The two gradually gained control of the body.
It seemed that group of people knew they could no longer control the "Dragon," or perhaps its growth and changes had exceeded their expectations, so they simply decided to recoup some of their investment.
As for the origin of the Jade, the two of them had no idea... They had never even noticed it before, as it had been too small.
After gaining control, Yang Wen and Lei Yiming remained lost, knowing neither where they were nor the cause of their predicament.
They longed for human society, but having become monsters, they were filled with apprehension.
Despite their overwhelming desire to go home, they couldn’t figure out a way back... They were even unwilling to show themselves, fearing they would be hunted down.
They didn’t want to be such monsters, no matter how powerful. They wanted to become human again, to return to shore and embrace their families.
Some say sailors are born with a love for the sea.
But in truth, they spend their whole lives waiting to make landfall.
It was during this strange period that a human, who had learned of their existence from some unknown source, found them. He offered to help them uncover the truth of their situation, hoping to cooperate with the "Three-headed Dragon."
This person was Luo Sheng...
They had met with Luo Sheng twice before. The second time, Luo Sheng had indeed brought a great deal of useful information: the Dragonification Experiment, the Rebel Species, the Si Realm...
It was all information that Yang Wen and Lei Yiming desperately needed, and they were genuinely willing to cooperate with him, even though they knew Luo Sheng was problematic.
At most, they took some precautions, not revealing their true identities or families.
Of course, this cooperation was merely a matter of mutual exploitation.
But once they recognized Yang Shen and their nephew had spoken, they naturally didn’t hesitate to kill Luo Sheng.
After all, when they had surfaced, they saw the two locked in a life-or-death struggle...
The dragon head’s words were low and halting, sounding somewhat emotionless—an instinctual coldness that came with crossing the species barrier. Yang Shen couldn’t even see its full form; after all, each dragon head was nearly a hundred meters long.
The reef beneath his feet was only about a hundred meters square.
But Yang Shen was willing to believe his Uncle and Lei Yiming still retained their human emotions. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have crushed Luo Sheng without a second thought...
Yang Shen looked at the three dragon heads, a mix of complex emotions swirling within him. He also didn’t care whether the "Dragon" was powerful or not.
He was only heartbroken that his uncle had become a "monster."
"Uncle... I’ve been investigating, too. The Dragonification Experiment originated in the ’Si Realm,’ and this Dragon itself was likely bred there. It was only released into the Vast Sea by the Rebel Species because of insufficient Source Concentration and food."
"Don’t worry. No matter what obstacles there are, I will get to the bottom of this, avenge you, and help you find a way to return to normal!"
The left dragon head rumbled, "Aren’t you afraid... that I’m not... Yang Wen..."
The right dragon head also lowered its form. "We... ourselves... are lost..."
The middle head tried to get closer too, but it was smacked a few times and retreated.
Yang Shen shook his head. "I am afraid that you aren’t my Uncle and Yiming, but I’m even more afraid of losing this sliver of hope I’ve just found... Even if it’s a one-in-ten-thousand chance..."
The left dragon head was silent for a long time. "I also want... to go home, but not... like this..."
The right head said, "We’ll be treated... as monsters... It will be trouble..."
Yang Shen shouted, "Uncle, are you in any danger in the sea?"
The left dragon head snorted, a gust of breath like a sweeping gale. "Never... been in danger..."
The right head added, "We’ve... been getting stronger."
At first, their body wasn’t this enormous.
But as they ate, their size grew to an exaggerated degree, and they discovered how peculiar this body was.
Not only was its Power terrifying, but it could also command any Sea Beast. At the same time, it naturally possessed a ridiculous amount of Gang Qi.
The intensity was like the Gang Qi of ten thousand True Gang Martial Artists combined into one, enough for a quantitative change to become a qualitative one.
Yang Shen asked what realm of a Martial Artist their current strength was equivalent to.
His question rendered both Yang Wen and Lei Yiming silent...
Their own Martial Arts proficiency had been merely average before, so they couldn’t answer the question at all.
No such creature existed on Cyan Blue, so there was no matching evaluation system. All they knew was that the most powerful Sea Beasts in the deepest parts of the Vast Sea were nothing more than their food.
However, Yang Shen felt that even if this Dragon’s body only possessed the "Basic Power" corresponding to its size, when combined with its immense True Gang, it was far beyond his comprehension.
A Late-stage Jade Viscera expert would likely be finished in a single swipe, not to mention that the Dragon would be far stronger than a human in the sea.
’Tongshu? No... definitely more than that. In the sea, its strength might even surpass the Guiyuan realm.’
This was indirectly proven by Luo Sheng’s belief that as long as he rendezvoused with the Dragon, not even the countless masters of Harmony Island’s three giants could stop him...
Whether it was due to their fragmented thoughts or their emotions being suppressed after becoming a Dragon, the Three-headed Dragon seemed ready to leave after it finished speaking.
But Yang Shen was reluctant to let them go. "Uncle... can I... touch you...?"
The left dragon head fell silent for a moment. A hint of warmth then appeared in its ten-meter-diameter pupil as it brought its enormous head closer.
The dragon head was a hundred meters long; even a single scale was larger than Yang Shen.
Yang Shen raised his hand, slowly and firmly extending his palm until it rested on a cold, hard scale.
The young man’s gaze was distant as he hopefully used his Life Chart Inspection ability.
He desperately hoped the system could prove that the one before him was still his uncle—the uncle who had raised him, who had fought with him over the recliner.
However, the system didn’t react at all, as if what he was trying to inspect was just an ordinary beast...
Yang Shen took a deep breath. "Uncle, the Yang Family obtained a Cultivation Method. Yang Mo, Yang Man, Lei Lv, and I are all practicing it. I’ll pass it on to you. You should give it a try."
He refused to believe his uncle had lost all chance of becoming human again. If the secrets of the Si Realm were one possible opportunity, the other was likely Cultivation.
The Dragon’s body was enormous and vastly different from a human’s, so naturally, there was no usable Martial Arts Body Refining Technique for it, but perhaps Cultivation would work.
The left dragon head listened quietly for a long time but didn’t show much of a reaction. "Yang Wen’s" state was extremely peculiar; it was uncertain if it would be of any use.
Just then, the right dragon head seemed to remember something. It lunged without warning and bit the middle head, snapping off a ten-meter-long branch of its horn. The broken piece was then levitated by True Gang.
The middle head roared in pain and anger but was quickly put down by Yang Wen and Lei Yiming’s "United Suppression."
’It feels like the middle head, with its beast-level intelligence, gets bullied quite a lot...’
The ten-meter-long horn branch was crushed by True Gang, and blood was actually squeezed out of it, though only a tiny amount... like squeezing Water from a stone...
Finally, a handful of blood, disproportionate to the horn’s size, coalesced into a sphere and floated toward Yang Shen.
"Drink it... It’s beneficial... This is how Luo Sheng got stronger."
"In the future, when you come... we’ll be able to sense you..."
Yang Shen stared at the roughly one-liter orb of blood. Immense Spiritual Qi flowed within it; it was clearly a profound Source Supplement.
Without much hesitation, Yang Shen drank the Dragon Blood, which was devoid of warmth but still had a pungent taste.
He immediately felt the exaggerated amount of Source it contained, and it was extremely suitable for accumulating Qi and Blood Value for Martial Arts.
With this liter of Dragon Blood, he would probably reach the Late-stage Innate realm very soon, or perhaps even go further.
The left head said, "Take care of... the family..."
The right head said, "We’ll return to the sea... and wait for you to come back... Shen..."
With that, the Three-headed Dragon hesitated no longer. It dove into the deep sea, kicking up tsunami-like waves that nearly submerged the reef...
The middle head let out another unintelligible roar, as if trying to express its might, before being subjected to "United Suppression" again and dragged back into the sea by the neck.
Yang Shen watched the enormous body disappear into the depths of the sea, muttering, "I will definitely come back. There has to be a way... There has to be a way."
Even when a person feels most powerless, there are still things they can do.
And Yang Shen was now far from powerless.
He had already grown strong, daring to face anything...
