Chapter 2368: Chapter 679: Chasing Love Across Ten Thousand Miles (11)
Qin Mu felt that the people here were all very simple; their lives were a bit laid?back, but still very orderly.
But there were so many people under him waiting to eat!
And although she could say heartless things to Feng Fanghua, if Mu Yichen really never went back to see her for the rest of his life, Qin Mu would feel guilty about it.
Those years when Mu Yichen stayed here to keep her company, she already felt she owed the Mu Family; now she was even more unwilling.
Divorce!
Such a difficult thing!
She hadn’t expected that the man who once didn’t care whether she left or stayed would drag out their divorce all the way until now. That day Tan Yiwen called her and told her everything: Mu Yichen had never intended to divorce, that’s why he’d made it so hard for him.
Tan Yiwen said Qin Mu could change lawyers, but Qin Mu knew that in Rongcheng, no matter which big?shot lawyer it was, they would refuse to take her divorce case.
Over in Feng City they did introduce her to a lawyer surnamed Wen, but he simply refused to take her case, just because he asked her one question that she couldn’t answer.
Wen Liang asked her: "I’ve heard a bit about your situation. I’ll just ask you, Mrs. Mu—do you really not love President Mu anymore? If something happened to him, would you regret divorcing him?"
Qin Mu was stunned at the time. Something happened? What could happen to him?
But just because of this, Wen Liang rejected her request.
So be it!
Qin Mu gave up. She’d originally thought that as long as they didn’t have relations for two years and lived apart long?term, they would be divorced.
Yet now he was lying right behind her, and they’d been together twice before and after dinner today.
Divorce felt more like a ridiculous fantasy.
Hmph!
If he never grew tired of it on his own, Qin Mu thought, then they would just go on like this!
Qin Mu no longer forced him to divorce her, and she didn’t dare to.
Every time she said those two words—"divorce"—to him, Qin Mu could see the pained look in his eyes, as if they stabbed him.
After so many years together, how could she bear to hurt him again and again?
It was as if the reason for the divorce was no longer important; gradually, she had come to understand many things.
——
In the morning, Mu Yichen woke from sleep to see gentle flurries drifting outside the window; the bed still held only him.
Qin Mu was already making breakfast, the kids were happily playing in the yard, and he could hear the brother and sister squabbling. When he sat up, he pinched the bridge of his nose and let out a quiet laugh.
They hadn’t lived this kind of comfortable life for a long time.
There were some things they no longer deliberately brought up, and she no longer drove him out of bed.
Mu Yichen suddenly felt a bit attached to this bed, reluctant to get up.
It was almost eight when Huanhuan ran upstairs and banged on the door: "Daddy, get up and eat!"
Only then did Mu Yichen get out of bed. After a quick wash, he went downstairs in his bathrobe to eat.
Qin Mu, Chengcheng, and Huanhuan were already dressed neatly and had almost finished eating in the dining room. Seeing him come down looking so languid, all of them looked at him curiously.
For a moment, the dining room seemed to go completely still and silent.
Only those three pairs of different eyes were fixed on him.
Mu Yichen walked over, glanced down at his bathrobe, and when he sat beside Qin Mu, he asked, "Do I look weird like this?"
"Daddy, you don’t have to go to work!"
Huanhuan shook her head and asked him with a grin.
"For now, yeah."
Mu Yichen replied.
"You’re so lucky. My little brother and I both have to go with Mommy to work!"
Huanhuan went on, but there wasn’t a trace of seriousness about "going to work"—from the look of her, she was obviously just going to play!
"That’s great. Then if I’m home alone, I can do whatever I want, right?"
Mu Yichen nodded and humored her.
"Then I’m not going with Mommy today. I’m staying home with Daddy!"
Chengcheng thought it over, then suddenly lifted his eyes to look at his father, utterly earnest.
Mu Yichen...
Huanhuan turned to look at her little brother. After swallowing the bread in her mouth, she asked him, "Why do you want to stay home? We still have to make clothes!"
"You’re the one who likes making clothes, I don’t. I’m going to be a soldier!"
Chengcheng suddenly declared this with a strong sense of mission.
"Tch! Being a soldier, big deal! I’ll go be a soldier too, hmph! Don’t think I can’t handle hardship!"
Huanhuan had heard that being a soldier meant enduring a lot, and that time she’d gone with Grandpa to the base to watch the uncles in the army train had left her really anxious. But if her little brother dared to do it, how could she, as the big sister, possibly not dare?
Watching Huanhuan’s always competitive, aggressive streak, Qin Mu couldn’t help finding it odd. She herself had only made a name for herself in her career because life had forced her to; yet this little heiress from a wealthy family like Huanhuan was actually still so...
