His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 2405: Chapter 686: Return (Part 4)
Qin Mu lifted her eyes to look at him just a little, really feeling a bit nervous, but in the end she still nodded. She figured Xiaohao was probably busy too, so she’d just stay home, watch some TV, take a nap, and that would be fine!
"Then I’ll just go upstairs and lie down for a while!"
Qin Mu spoke in a low voice, then glanced at his pocket again.
Mu Yichen noticed she wanted the phone, so he took it out and handed it to her.
His fingers, on purpose, brushed across her palm when he passed her the phone.
Mu Yichen clearly saw Qin Mu’s breathing tremble slightly, then she turned and headed upstairs with the phone in hand.
Mu Yichen slowly slipped both hands into his pockets, his pitch-black eyes following her only when she reached the last step, the afterglow flickering.
——
Mu Family.
"Looks like those two really are sleeping in separate rooms. I went over to clean today, and the young master has a few clothes in the guest room. And judging from the bed, it should have been slept in last night."
The two maids finished their work and then chatted in a corner. Aunt Wang talked about what she’d noticed at the apartment, and the other one sighed over and over: "What are we supposed to do? We can’t help, and the couple’s all smiles on the surface but at odds inside."
"That’s not even the main issue. I’m just afraid Madam will find out and start looking for another woman for the young master again."
Aunt Wang spoke in a low voice, her gaze unintentionally darting outside, and she just happened to see Feng Fanghua standing there. She straightened up in fright at once: "Madam!"
The other maid turned around too, just as panicked, and hurriedly lowered her head.
"So what you two mean is that the couple are sleeping in separate rooms now? They’re not sharing a bed?"
"I might have misunderstood. The young master’s pajamas are still tossed in the bedroom’s dirty clothes basket, quite a few of them!"
Aunt Wang was afraid she’d cause trouble for the couple, so she hurried to explain herself.
Feng Fanghua frowned, gave the two of them a scrutinizing look, then slowly turned and walked away.
What on earth are those two doing?
This time Qin Mu came back with her spirits pretty high.
Feng Fanghua mulled it over for quite a while, but still couldn’t figure it out.
She couldn’t hold back and called Qin Mu: "Come over tonight, I have something to ask you! And find some excuse with Mu Yichen, don’t say you’re coming to the house."
After Qin Mu hung up, she was still lying on the bed, staring blankly for a long time, unable to figure out why Feng Fanghua suddenly wanted to see her.
But she still showed up that evening as agreed.
The old master and Mu Zihao weren’t home, only Feng Fanghua was. She was about to have dinner, and when she saw Qin Mu arrive, she said, "Eat with me."
Qin Mu unconsciously raised her brows. This really caught her off guard—Feng Fanghua was asking her to have dinner together?
She didn’t know why, but it felt like she’d been given a little boost. She relaxed and went along to eat with Feng Fanghua.
Just the two of them, mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, at the table, but the dishes were very refined.
It wasn’t until Qin Mu noticed Aunt Wang’s face didn’t look too good that she suddenly figured something out. Then she looked at Feng Fanghua’s still-cold face, that frosty matriarch expression, and her guess became more or less certain.
"How did Yichen convince you to come back with him?"
After they’d eaten for a bit, Feng Fanghua asked with her head lowered, her chopsticks still reaching for food, as casually as if making small talk.
"It was Chengcheng and Huanhuan. The two of them convinced me to come back."
Qin Mu thought about it; it was better not to mention anything about her and Mu Yichen, so she only talked about her son and daughter.
Feng Fanghua lifted her eyes, as if she didn’t quite believe her. But seeing the calm, rippleless look in Qin Mu’s eyes, she gave a brief laugh: "Hmph! Since when did you start caring so much about the kids?"
"I’ve always cared about them!"
Qin Mu wasn’t willing to accept Feng Fanghua’s accusation.
Hearing her try to argue back, Feng Fanghua looked at her again, her gaze sharp, like some lofty empress dowager.
"It’s just that you usually care so much that I don’t even get a chance to do anything."
Qin Mu added, her chopsticks already slowly setting down.
Seeing her put down her chopsticks, Feng Fanghua drew in a quiet breath. She was actually somewhat satisfied with that remark from Qin Mu. As a grandmother, she herself felt she was very attentive to her precious grandson and granddaughter; having Qin Mu, as their mother, acknowledge that was not bad at all.
"Keep eating."
Feng Fanghua said lightly.
Only then did Qin Mu pick up her chopsticks again and unhurriedly continue eating with her.
After thinking it over, Feng Fanghua still asked, "Are you two really sleeping in separate rooms?"
Qin Mu kept her head down and stayed silent, but she also stopped picking up any more food. She lifted her water glass and took slow sips, trying to hide her guilt.
"Not saying anything means you admit it. Why?"
Watching her like that, and having lived together for so many years, Feng Fanghua knew her somewhat, so she pressed Qin Mu with another question.
