Chapter 42: Black Card

Selene sat at the dressing chair in front of the mirror on the table, staring at herself.

The Manifestation Gala had finally arrived.

"Papa should be coming today." Her lips twisted as she grinned.

A knock suddenly came at her door.

She lifted her head.

"Madam, it’s me, Ellenor."

"Come in," she said.

Ellenor pushed the open and walked inside. In her hand, she held a card. And when she approached Selene, she extended it over.

Selene glanced at the card. "What...is this for?" She was confused.

Ellenor’s lips stretched into a big smile.

"The alpha gave this to me. He asked me to hand it over to you before he left this morning."

Selene furrowed her brows. "Isn’t this his black card?"

She asked, "What is it for?"

"For you to shop. Tonight, the manifestation gala will be held. Many people will be at the Great Hall, including the top figures of the pack. You are the daughter of Alpha Tobias, so you need to look well taken care of and presentable, otherwise, your father might have questions."

"Is that so?"

Selene eyed the card before slowly taking it.

"Is this unlimited?"

"Of course." Ellenor nodded with excitement. "He said you can spend it as you like and buy whatever you desire with it."

Selene nodded. "I don’t know places around this pack though."

"And that’s exactly why I’ll come with you." Ellenor chuckled, fiddling with her fingers. "I’ll show you around the pack and the brands of stores you can get the prettiest of dresses and jewelry."

"You sound very excited."

"Of course I am. I’m more than happy to escort you."

Selene nodded. "Alright then."

Standing to her feet, she slipped her shoes on and grabbed a purse.

Ruffling her hair into a bouncy bouncy style, she approached the door, walking out with Ellenor.

"Madam, I heard your father will be coming," Ellenor whispered to her as they descended to the last floor.

Selene gave a nod. "That is true."

"Will you go back with him?"

"No. Not yet. The peace treaty won’t be over until another week. Then...I can return home. But!"

"What?" Ellenor waited.

"My papa will stay for the rest of one week left. And then finish up negotiations with Dante. Afterwards, I will leave with him."

Ellenor sighed.

"Why are you sighing?" Selene asked.

"I don’t know. I’ll just really miss you when you’re gone, Madama." Ellenor smiled hard. "You saved my life. I don’t know where I would be right now if you hadn’t been around and protected me."

"You will be alright."

Selene patted her shoulder.

"I already spoke about it to Dante. Even when I’m gone, you will continue to work in this manor. And as for Meris, she won’t and can’t do anything to you. You’re his gift to me and so...he’ll let you stay."

Crossing two of her fingers together, Ellenor breathed out, "I hope so."

"Madam." One of the butlers in the manor approached both women as they walked out of the building.

He bowed at the waist and when he straightened up, he held a polite smile.

"I will be driving you both," he said.

"Thank you."

They walked over to the car and settled in the back seat.

The butler sat in the driver’s seat. He turned the steering wheel and sped out into the road.

"Which way are we going, madam?" he asked.

Ellenor answered, "Crawford street. Sveits brand store."

The butler nodded.

Turning the steering wheel, he took a turn into another lane and began speeding towards their destination.

By 30 minutes, they had arrived at the store.

Selene stepped down.

Ellenor came out along with him.

They lifted their eyes to the store.

"You will surely find something really good here!" Ellenor teased, "Who knows, you might even luckily find your mate at the Manifestation Gala."

Selene glanced at her.

She shook her head with a chuckle, amused. "I’m not looking for a mate."

As they went into the store, Ellenor curled her arms with hers. "I know you said that because you’re a wild omega. But even if everyone outcasts wild omega, it’s still fun to want a mate."

Her laughter spread out through the store.

The moment they were both seen, a sale girls rushed over to them and bowed deeply at the waist.

"Good afternoon, ladies. What would you like to buy?"

Ellenor spoke, "We would like a really beautiful dress, jewelry sets and shoes, just for my madam."

The sales girl nodded with a smile.

"Please come with me."

As they walked off deeper into the store, she asked, "Can you let me know your budget?"

Selene shook her head. "There is no budget."

"No budget, madam?"

"No," responding, she took out the black card. "Show us the best thing you have. Don’t worry about the price."

Upon seeing the black card, the sales girl’s face brightened up heavily. "Come with me to the private section then, madam! We have sets that has yet to debut. I believe you will love them!"

Nodding, Selene and Ellenor followed after her.

"Please, have a seat, madam." The sales girl gestured over to the sofa in the private room.

Selene sat down.

Ellenor stood by the sofa.

Selene tilted her head up, shooting her a glance. "Why are you standing?"

"I am your maid, madam, and—"

"Sit down." She waved her down. "You can’t possibly stand until I’m done."

Ellenor shook her head. "It is really alright, Madam. I’m your maid and it’s already nice enough that you let me come with you."

"Don’t say that." Selene waved her down again. "Sit down."

When she kept hesitating, she hissed at her. "Sit down."

Chuckling awkwardly, Ellenor slowly lowered herself and sat down on the sofa.

Then they began waiting patiently.

The doors of the walk in store wardrobe opened and the sales girl stepped out with a silver dress.

"Madam," she held a big smile as she presented, "What do you think of this one? Do you like it?"

Selene stared at it.

She shook her head. "Silver isn’t really my colour. Can I have something in red?"

"Absolutely!"

Nodding, the maid was just about to turn around and take the dress back in when sounds of people approaching resounded.

The door of the private section was opened and following behind another sales girl was a woman.

Ellenor and Selene watched as the woman stepped out.

"Meris?"

"Madam?"

Both women were taken aback. They had never thought that coming here, they would end up running into Meris.

Meris’s expression instantly darkened. "What the hell are you doing here?"
