Chapter 1161 370: Ian's Impact on History (2)

She probably thinks Ian wants to understand himself.

However.

Is reality truly like this?

Of course not!

Ian gritted his teeth, determination set in his heart. He knew that conventional magic was ineffective against her. Her existence is anchored by higher-level rules—she must catch up to me. This is the "mission" granted to her by the Evil God Embryo, the "definition" of her existence. To break this definition, the "definition" itself must be broken.

Ian certainly possesses power of the same level.

"Any pursuer is incapable of reaching the pursued.

Any seeker will eventually lose themselves in the quest.

I declare: it is a paradox that she can catch up to me.

Therefore, this 'catching up' cannot be established."

Ian closed his eyes and chanted softly, using his Paradox Divine Authority from the Dark Wizard, which was also one of his trump cards. As his voice faded, a ghostly blue light suddenly erupted, rippling across the entire space.

In that instant, the world seemed to pause.

The Ghost Bride's steps halted.

She stood in the center of the fire sea, her red eyes still locked onto Ian, her blood-filled mouth open as if to scream. Yet, her body could not advance even one more step. She lifted her hand, blood threads shooting out, but they twisted and disintegrated in mid-air, as if they had hit an invisible wall of logic.

She attempted to circumvent, to teleport, to tear through space—but no matter how she acted, her "arrival" was denied by a higher-level power. Her existence remained intact, her mission still existed, but the act of "catching up to Ian" had been defined as logically impossible.

Just like a "square circle" or "moving stillness"—her actions themselves had become an indefensible paradox.

"What... what kind of magic is this?!" Cam was dumbstruck.

"Divine Authority." Ian answered softly, his face pale, clearly the exertion of using this spell to influence the opponent was immense, given that the opponent was linked to a false Sun God.

Even though it's false, it's still a Pseudo-God, a rank above Ian. The moment the last syllable fell, the entire space-time seemed to hit the pause button. The Ghost Brides remained frozen in mid-air, maintaining their pouncing stance, their golden sands stalled at the moment of dispersal, even the wind ceased to flow.

"Not power, but 'definition.' I've redefined 'her relationship with me'—she can exist, she can pursue, but the act of 'catching up' is now forbidden by cosmic logic." Ian was not diminished by this; he even had the strength to explain to Cam.

The Ghost Bride struggled madly in the fiery sea, her red eyes showing a hint of "confusion" for the first time. She raised a hand, pointing at Ian, blood threads shooting out again, yet twisted into an odd loop mid-air before dissipating. She couldn't understand. She only knew she "had to pursue," but didn't understand why she "couldn't catch up."

Inside the Paradox Domain.

Only Ian and Cam could still move. The young man watched it all in shock, lips trembling but speechless. Ian offered no explanation, grabbing his arm.

"Apparition!"

This time, the spatial leap was smoother than ever before. No resistance, no interference, as if the entire universe was making way for their escape. When their view cleared again, they stood on the western cliff of the Nile River, the outline of Memphis City resembling a sleeping giant beast under the moonlight.

"They... them..." Cam collapsed to the ground, pointing across the river.

Even across the entire Nile, seven golden dots could be seen frantically flashing over the city. The Ghost Brides were evidently still trying to pursue, but some invisible force trapped them at their original spot—every time they moved a certain distance outside the city, they were instantly "reset" to the starting point.

Like ants trapped on a Mobius Ring.

In a fit of rage.

The Ghost Brides roared and merged into one entity again. Yet even so, it was useless, this time, the Ghost Brides could not reach where Ian and Cam were located. There was a force affecting her, making it impossible for her to meet Ian, it was the same supreme Divine Authority power wielded by Ian.

"The paradox is effective." Ian inspected his half-broken magic wand, his voice tired but satisfied, "Before someone breaks my definition, she can never truly approach us."

Upon hearing this.

Cam curled up in the crevice of the rock, his gaze never leaving Ian—that mix of awe and fear in his eyes, Ian had seen in too many people's eyes.

Previously, Cam thought Ian was a Legendary Wizard and already had immense respect for him, but judging from the situation earlier, Cam realized he may have underestimated Ian.

"Which Divine Spirit are you an incarnation of?" Cam finally couldn't resist speaking, his voice dry like the desert wind, he could only think of this possibility.

Otherwise, he couldn't explain why Ian possessed Divine Authority.

"Hmm?"

Ian was sketching the structure diagram of the Temple on the sand with his broken wand, and paused upon hearing this. He lifted his head, the morning light dancing in those gray-green eyes, reflecting a bit of a helpless smile.

"Cam, I need to tell you a fact." He flicked his finger, the pattern on the sand automatically reorganizing into Hogwarts' emblem, "Wizards are not the inconvenient beings of Gods."

The young man was clearly stunned. He opened his mouth, his gaze shifting between the broken wand and the sand drawing: "But you used Divine Authority... defined a paradox... Isn't this something only the Nine Pillar Gods can..."

"That's the issue." Ian interrupted him, lightly tapping Cam's forehead with his own magic wand, "You've etched the word 'impossible' into the depths of your mind."
