Chapter 107 — Killing the Vampire Wizards

The day to leave Hogwarts came quickly.

Then came the exam results.

Vesey deserved full marks in every subject, becoming the top student in the school with an incredible set of results.

Hermione came second.

Harry’s scores were also quite good, thanks to the fact that they had studied hard during the last few weeks.

After receiving their results, they packed all their luggage and boarded the train.

Notices were also distributed to every student, warning them not to use magic during the holidays.

Vesey was informed that she would be staying with Snape during the summer vacation, at Spinner’s End.

So she also boarded the train, knowing that Snape would be waiting for her at King’s Cross Station.

Harry and the others were horrified when they heard the news.

They looked at Vesey in surprise, terrified at the thought of her having to live with Snape.

They even felt that they should talk to Dumbledore about it.

But Vesey refused.

"Professor is very good. You’ve forgotten that he protected the Philosopher’s Stone for an entire year!"

Harry and the others felt guilty about this.

They had been wrongly accusing Snape all this time.

So they could only swallow their objections and agree to let Vesey stay with Snape.

But after Harry and Ron discussed it, they decided that Ron would go to Snape and pick Vesey up during the summer vacation.

"Just tell him that we invited you over to have fun. If he doesn’t agree, I’ll ask my mum to talk to him!"

Ron actively came up with a plan.

Vesey smiled and nodded.

Hermione hesitated for a moment.

Perhaps she had wanted to invite Vesey to stay at her house, but after thinking about it, she gave up.

The diary had mentioned that something would happen to Vesey during the summer vacation. Hermione believed that Vesey would be safer staying in the wizarding world.

Snape obviously knew about this too, which was why he had allowed Vesey to stay with him.

And even if Vesey stayed with the Weasleys, nothing would happen to her. After all, the Weasley family were all wizards.

Hogwarts was soon left behind them.

As darkness fell, they finally arrived at King’s Cross Station.

Vesey was about to get off the train when a system notification suddenly appeared in her mind.

[Ding! Merlin’s Favor has activated. Will the trial begin?]

Vesey froze.

Was this trial really going to be announced so openly?

"What is the trial?"

[Ding! Kill five vampire wizards.]

Vampire wizards?

Vesey was a little surprised.

Was this something Voldemort had arranged for her?

Could this really be considered Merlin’s trial?

But it was actually quite normal.

In any novel, the protagonist wasn’t usually tested directly by some god. Instead, various villains would appear to challenge them.

Voldemort was obviously the kind of villain who would cause such trouble.

Vesey looked around.

The station was filled with bustling crowds and happy cheers. Everything seemed perfectly normal.

"Accept the trial!"

Even if she didn’t accept it, those vampires would obviously attack her anyway.

Of course, it was also possible that they would attack her classmates instead.

[Ding! The trial begins.]

As the system’s voice fell, Vesey suddenly saw more than twenty vampire wizards appear among the crowd.

Their fangs emerged.

"Vampires!"

Someone screamed.

Many wizards tried to leave with their children, but it was useless.

Anti-Apparition and concealment spells had already been placed around the station.

Some people who had Portkeys hurried away.

Those without Portkeys could only desperately fight back.

But these vampire wizards were clearly powerful.

Vesey saw several wizards fall.

Of course, the vampires didn’t seem interested in drinking the blood of adult wizards.

They preferred students.

Vesey saw one vampire suddenly bite a third-year student on the neck.

The student’s face instantly turned pale. As his blood rapidly drained away, his entire body began to tremble and convulse.

"Collapse!"

"Collapse!"

Vesey shouted loudly.

The vampire holding the student finally released him and fell to the ground.

"Vesey! Vesey!"

Snape shouted loudly.

He quickly pushed through the crowd and rushed toward Vesey, using a spell to knock away a vampire that was charging at her.

But Snape wasn’t omnipotent.

Vesey suddenly saw another vampire attack him.

She immediately shouted,

"Incendio!"

The vampire screamed.

Snape was then free to counterattack.

Vesey breathed a sigh of relief.

Kill five vampires?

That was actually quite difficult.

It wasn’t that she was afraid to kill.

The problem was that many of the spells she currently used weren’t fatal.

If she used magic beyond what a first-year student should be capable of, Dumbledore would definitely become suspicious.

So she had to make the deaths of these vampires look like accidents.

Preferably accidents that were convincing enough that even Dumbledore wouldn’t be able to find many flaws.

Vesey thought for a while and quickly came up with an idea.

She would control several vampires and have them capture students. Then she would shout that she was willing to replace those students.

Ideally, they would take her somewhere isolated.

Then she could arrange some convenient accidents.

And she could harvest a large number of Energy Points along the way.

Think about it!

A little girl standing up for so many people and willingly offering herself in their place—how moving would that be?

Vesey was almost moved to tears just thinking about it.

So, while everyone was panicking, Vesey secretly used Energy Points to control the vampires.

Two hundred Energy Points nearly emptied her small reserve.

Hopefully, she could earn them back soon.

Within just a few minutes, the vampire wizards attacking them had become Vesey’s puppets.

She controlled several of them, and each one captured multiple students.

Harry and the others were caught as well.

They desperately shouted for Vesey to run, but the vampires immediately cast Silencing Charms on them, preventing them from saying another word.

Vesey looked at them with a pale face.

"What are you going to do?"

"Everyone, listen! We want Vesey Potter. As long as you hand her over, we will release all the students and leave this place!"

His words shocked everyone at the station.

Then someone suddenly shouted,

"Give them Vesey! They’ve already bitten the students!"

It was Millicent.

She had been isolated by many of the Slytherins for an entire year because she had opposed Snape’s decision to let Vesey stay on her own when school began.

Now, when she heard the vampires demanding Vesey, she immediately gloated and shouted.

Of course, although she shouted loudly, she kept her head lowered.

She didn’t even know who had heard her.

But Vesey knew.

Or rather, she checked using Energy Points.

She controlled one of the vampires, had it grab Millicent, and shouted,

"Look! This girl said to hand Vesey Potter over! This is the voice of the crowd!"

Then, under Vesey’s control, the vampire looked at the dazed Millicent and asked,

"Good girl, point out which one is Vesey Potter."

Which one was Vesey?

That was incredibly easy to determine.

The prettiest girl in the crowd was Vesey.

Snape pushed through the people around him and rushed toward Vesey.

He knew Vesey would come forward.

His guess was correct.

Just as he was about to reach her, Vesey raised her hand.

Her face was pale, but she still spoke firmly and loudly.

"I’m here! I’ll go with you, but you have to let all the students go!"

Snape finally reached Vesey’s side and grabbed her shoulders.

He shouted furiously,

"Who would let a child sacrifice herself to buy peace?!"
