Chapter 126 — She Held Up the Family

"I still don’t quite understand why Ginny never went home, but after thinking about it, I decided not to refuse.

"I told her that if Ginny really came here, I would persuade her.

"To be honest, I was a little confused. Ginny used to love her mother very much. After Vesey left, she had almost nothing left in her life, yet she still managed to carry on for the sake of her family.

"How could Ginny have never gone home again?

"I looked at Mrs. Weasley. There was deep guilt hidden in her eyes, and I had some guesses about what had happened, but I didn’t say anything.

"I agreed to Mrs. Weasley’s request. I thought she would leave after that, but unexpectedly, she suddenly asked me whether I had ever considered finding a man all these years.

"I opened my mouth and told her that I had no intention of getting married.

"But this seemed to hit a nerve.

"Mrs. Weasley broke down and said that we were all crazy.

"Vesey is dead. Vesey will never come back.

"Why were we still holding on to her like this?

"She also said that she should have broken up Ginny and Vesey from the beginning. She admitted that she liked Vesey, but she had never imagined that Vesey would end up with her daughter.

"When she first found out, she was dissatisfied. She thought Ginny deserved someone better—certainly not a woman who already had several wives.

"She told me that after Vesey left, Ginny was confused and lost, and she didn’t know what else to do. So she introduced many men and women to Ginny, hoping that Ginny would form a different relationship with someone else.

"But Ginny ignored all her good intentions and never came home.

"She also said that she had thrown away all of Vesey’s belongings at home. She hoped Ginny could finally let Vesey go and stop living like this.

"I looked at her somewhat sadly.

"I knew this was a mother’s love.

"Actually, Mrs. Weasley had treated Vesey very well before Vesey left. Vesey once told me that Mrs. Weasley treated her like her own daughter.

"That was why she rejected Ginny so many times.

"She had even stopped Ginny from going to see her.

"Near the end, Vesey had deliberately scolded Ginny and told her not to come over anymore.

"Perhaps she had already guessed how Mrs. Weasley would react, right?

"Mrs. Weasley loved Vesey, but she loved her daughter even more.

"Especially as she grew older and lost her youngest son, she began worrying that Ginny would have no one to look after her and would spend the rest of her life alone.

"She gradually began to resent Vesey.

"I know this is a mother’s instinctive reaction, but I still can’t help feeling sorry for Vesey.

"She had never done anything wrong in her life. Even her five wives had been the ones to confess their feelings to her.

"Vesey once said that she had never really considered romantic relationships.

"She had suffered so much humiliation that she was afraid of being touched by men. But she was also somewhat afraid of relationships themselves.

"Even if she liked someone, she would never say it aloud. Instead, she would distance herself from them because she was afraid that the other person might regret it someday.

"Just like Vesey...

"After she died, all her belongings were thrown away.

"My eyes couldn’t help turning red.

"Mrs. Weasley vented for a while before finally calming down.

"She began apologizing and said she would retrieve Vesey’s belongings.

"Retrieve them?

"Can a broken mirror really be put back together?

"Oh, right. It probably can in the wizarding world. They have magic.

"But relationships are different.

"Once a relationship is broken, cracks will remain even after you pick up the pieces.

"I shook my head, stood up, and told her there was no need.

"Vesey would never force a relationship, and she certainly wouldn’t want to become the source of conflict between a mother and daughter.

"I also told her not to come to me again.

"I wouldn’t persuade Ginny to return home, and I didn’t have the energy to argue with an irrational mother.

"All I could do was see her out.

"Goodbye, Mrs. Weasley!"

---

Platform Nine and Three-Quarters.

Mrs. Weasley, who had been looking for Harry and the others, suddenly froze.

Tears gradually streamed down her face.

When she was reading the earlier parts of the diary, she had still been thinking about finding Harry and Ron as quickly as possible and warning them not to drive the flying car to school.

But when she read further and discovered that Ginny was Vesey’s wife, she was almost stunned.

Just as the diary described, her first instinct was to keep Ginny away from Vesey.

Until she saw herself completely losing control in the diary.

She panicked.

Could I really become like that?

It was possible.

After all, the diary said that Ron would die, and that her youngest daughter would become so devastated after Vesey’s death that she would rather remain alone than return home.

She was clearly a powerful witch.

Why should she return to the family and take care of the children?

Wasn’t it simply because she wanted to make sure her children had enough food and clothing and could grow up happily?

If Ginny became miserable and might even die for Vesey after she and Arthur were gone...

How could she not be worried?

Mrs. Weasley became increasingly anxious.

She didn’t even know what she should do.

She wanted to separate Ginny and Vesey, but when she thought about it carefully, it seemed impossible.

Unless she transferred Ginny to another school.

But how could that work?

The Weasley family had attended Hogwarts for generations!

And Arthur’s job was in Britain too. They couldn’t simply leave.

She had also considered having a serious conversation with Vesey and asking her not to be with Ginny.

But the diary had already said that Ginny insisted on staying with Vesey.

Mrs. Weasley knew Ginny’s temperament.

If Ginny really fell in love with Vesey, she would definitely find a way to get close to her.

And the more Mrs. Weasley tried to stop her, the more determined Ginny would become.

What was she supposed to do?

And after Vesey died, wouldn’t Ginny end up living alone again?

How worried would she be then?

She would...

Mrs. Weasley suddenly stopped.

Wait.

She hurriedly opened the diary to the earlier pages.

It had said that Vesey seemed capable of surviving on her own.

She simply didn’t want to live anymore.

If Mrs. Weasley managed to persuade Vesey in the end, would Vesey be able to survive?

And what if she had prevented Vesey from ever meeting Dumbledore?

Would Vesey have died?

It was only a possibility.

But Mrs. Weasley immediately seized upon it like a lifeline.

Mr. Weasley, who was standing beside her, said anxiously:

"Why is this section blocked off? I don’t know how Harry and Ron are doing! Why did something happen to them?"

Mrs. Weasley, who had been even more anxious moments ago, sighed.

She looked toward the corridor.

If nothing unexpected had happened, those two foolish children had probably already taken their flying car into the sky.

Thinking of this, Mrs. Weasley immediately turned angrily toward Arthur.

"I think you’ll be expelled sooner or later for modifying Muggle objects!"

Mr. Weasley froze.

What?

Why was his wife suddenly angry with him for no reason?

And hadn’t they already settled this matter last time?

Why was she bringing it up again?

He felt completely innocent.

But the more Mrs. Weasley looked at him, the angrier she became.

If she really became like that in the future, wouldn’t Arthur advise her?

Sure enough, the whole family was unreliable.

In the end, she was the one who had to hold the entire family together!

Hmph!
