Hogwarts Diary: Snape Goes Crazy
Chapter 142 — Cassandra’s Awkwardness
Chapter 142: Chapter 142 — Cassandra’s Awkwardness
Chapter 142 — Cassandra’s Awkwardness
On one side, Harry and the others were so frightened that they could barely speak.
On the other, Vesey was happily eating and drinking.
Of course, there was still a look of regret on her face from time to time, as though she were disappointed that she couldn’t spend Halloween with Harry and the others.
She even ate more slowly than usual, as if she couldn’t bring herself to swallow the food.
This made Cassandra extremely unhappy.
She said coldly:
"There’s nothing wrong with the food. I think the house-elves might get angry if they knew you weren’t eating their food properly!"
"Sorry..."
Vesey pretended to be embarrassed and shook her head before lowering her head and eating properly.
This obviously made Cassandra much happier.
She poured a glass of pumpkin juice for Vesey and placed it beside her with a cold expression.
Vesey gave her a big smile.
Cassandra merely snorted and turned her head away from everyone, as arrogant as a butterfly.
Vesey could only continue enjoying her food and ignore Cassandra.
When they began eating dessert, the band Dumbledore had invited also arrived.
Vesey thought the music they played wasn’t as good as she had expected, but she still clapped appreciatively.
That comment obviously didn’t make Cassandra feel any better.
She felt that Vesey was still thinking about Harry and the others and was unhappy because she couldn’t be with them.
But Cassandra didn’t know how to comfort Vesey.
Vesey was obviously very kind to her. She never got angry with Cassandra, nor did she ask anything of her like the other girls did.
But...
Cassandra still felt dissatisfied.
In fact, she was extremely dissatisfied.
Hermione hadn’t done anything special.
So why did Vesey only think about Hermione?
They went everywhere together after class.
They went to the library together.
They played together.
They even went to the bathroom together, holding hands.
Cassandra had never been treated like that.
Of course, no one dared to invite Cassandra to go to the bathroom with them.
She was always so arrogant, looking at other people as though they were garbage.
Who would think Cassandra was someone they needed to accompany to the bathroom?
Besides, when school had first started, some girls had tried inviting Cassandra along.
Cassandra had sternly rejected every single one of them.
The expression on her face had practically said that she was going to the bathroom just to torment them.
Her expression alone had been enough to make everyone retreat because they couldn’t stand it.
Vesey certainly wasn’t going to humiliate herself.
So she had no idea that Cassandra was secretly waiting for her to invite her.
Every time Cassandra saw Vesey dragging Hermione along with her, her teeth practically itched with jealousy.
But no matter how angry Cassandra became, she still didn’t dare approach Vesey.
Especially this year.
She constantly felt guilty.
During the vampire attack, one of the vampires had been a member of the Woley family.
The relationship was distant, but he was still a member of the Woley family.
Cassandra had seen that man touching Vesey.
She had been disgusted just seeing it.
She could only imagine how Vesey must have felt.
And she still didn’t know what had happened, but on the day of the trial, that man’s mother had suddenly rushed in and tried to kill Vesey.
When Cassandra later saw the photographs from the trial, she was filled with anger and despair.
The diary had revealed that members of the Woley family had also poisoned Vesey.
Cassandra had already felt guilty about it at the time.
She had even considered trying to take control of the Woley family herself.
It would have been best if she could become the head of the Woley family by the time Vesey reached sixth or seventh year.
But plans could never keep up with reality.
The Woley woman had attacked Vesey.
Although Vesey had turned the situation into a blessing in disguise by ending up at Nicolas’s manor and becoming his apprentice, Cassandra didn’t feel happy at all.
She only felt deeply ashamed.
How could she possibly have the nerve to approach Vesey?
Even if Vesey didn’t care, Cassandra couldn’t forgive herself.
Ever since school started, she had wanted to apologize to Vesey.
But she felt that any apology would sound terribly hollow.
Would Vesey even believe her?
Cassandra was so unpleasant and terrible at expressing herself.
Vesey probably didn’t like her.
And now Vesey must know that the woman was Cassandra’s relative.
What would Vesey think of her?
After returning to school, Cassandra had lived nervously every day.
She waited for Vesey to confront her.
But it never happened.
Every day, she wondered whether it was because Vesey was too kind to bring it up...
Or because Vesey hated her so much that she couldn’t even be bothered to mention it.
Cassandra thought it was probably the first possibility.
But somehow, that made her even more unhappy.
First, because Vesey was simply too kind.
That kindness always made Cassandra feel uncomfortable.
Second, because she was suffering.
She couldn’t tell herself that everything was fine simply because Vesey didn’t care.
There were clearly many things wrong with her.
After school started, Cassandra repeatedly told herself that it would be better to stay away from Vesey.
If she didn’t see Vesey, she wouldn’t have to deal with all these complicated feelings and painful thoughts.
But how could she possibly stay away from her?
Every time Cassandra saw Vesey rush toward Hermione after class, her eyes would turn red with jealousy.
Vesey was obviously going to be someone extremely important to her in the future.
So why was it already so difficult for her to even get close to her?
She wanted to be Vesey’s closest companion in the future, yet right now she couldn’t even hold her hand.
She could only watch Hermione hug Vesey.
She had even kissed Vesey on the cheek.
Whenever Cassandra thought about Hermione kissing Vesey, she became furious.
That day, she had gritted her teeth and asked the mysterious existence how she could secretly kiss Vesey.
The moment she asked, her own face had flushed red.
Of course, she regretted asking afterward.
She had assumed that the mysterious existence would probably scold her.
Who could have expected it not to scold her at all?
Instead, it simply gave her an answer.
And that answer was what made Cassandra feel so ashamed.
The mysterious existence had actually suggested that she go to Vesey’s room in the middle of the night...
Cassandra thought about it for a moment before quickly stopping herself.
What did Vesey sleeping soundly have to do with her?
That mysterious existence was truly shameless...
She wouldn’t do it.
Absolutely not!
She would never do something like that!
Thinking about this, Cassandra became even more evasive whenever she looked at Vesey.
There was even a hint of fear in her eyes.
If Vesey found out that she had such embarrassing thoughts, would she be disgusted?
Definitely!
Anyone would be disgusted if they knew someone had been thinking about them like that.
Vesey would be no different.
So Cassandra had better hide her thoughts.
She didn’t want to lose Vesey.
Vesey had no idea that Cassandra had thought so much about all of this.
She certainly didn’t know that the late-night adventure she had been looking forward to had already been rejected by Cassandra long ago.
She finished watching the performance happily, ate until she was full, and rested for a while before preparing to harvest some Energy Points.
During this period, her demand for Energy Points had increased sharply because of all the games she had been playing.
More importantly, she hadn’t had many opportunities to replenish her Energy for several days, so her daily quota hadn’t accumulated day after day.
That made her eagerly anticipate a suitable opportunity to show off.
And Halloween was the perfect stage for her performance today.
With so many people around, she should be able to obtain at least a few thousand Energy Points, right?
If she couldn’t get a few thousand Energy Points, she could always knock Harry out and cry beside him for half an hour.
Surely that would get her enough Energy Points, right?
