Chapter 94 — New Diary Features

Harry originally thought Hermione would be angry, feeling that the detention had interfered with her studies.

But she wasn’t.

Instead, Hermione silently packed her things and even told Harry and the others to hide Vesey from what was happening.

They were afraid Vesey would worry.

There was no need to tell her until they returned from their detention.

Of course, Vesey already knew what Harry and the others were going to experience.

She didn’t think there would be any real danger, so she simply returned to the dormitory and continued watching movies.

The next day, when it was daytime, Hermione and the others told her about everything that had happened the previous night.

"You actually met Voldemort?"

Vesey exclaimed in surprise.

Her face immediately filled with worry.

"What was he doing there? Does he want to kill someone again? What can I do? I want to kill him! I can’t let him hurt anyone!"

[Ding! Energy Points +10.]

[Ding! Energy Points +10.]

[Ding! Energy Points +10.]

Vesey’s words shocked Harry and the others.

They knew Vesey hated Voldemort, but Vesey had always been so gentle and kind.

Even when she saw Malfoy injured, she still treated him.

Yet this Vesey was actually talking about killing someone.

"Vesey..."

Harry stared at her in disbelief.

Vesey didn’t look embarrassed.

She met Harry’s gaze directly.

"Brother, you all say I’m stupid. I know I’m not very good at judging people. But if I’m certain that someone is a bad person, I won’t show them any mercy!"

[Ding! Energy Points +10.]

[Ding! Energy Points +10.]

[Ding! Energy Points +10.]

Her firm words finally made Harry and the others understand.

Vesey wasn’t simply a foolish child.

She was usually too innocent and trusting, but when faced with a genuine enemy, she could still pick up a weapon and fight.

Harry looked into Vesey’s eyes and nodded.

"If... if we see him again, the two of us can kill him together!"

Harry clenched his fists.

Vesey nodded vigorously.

The two of them looked completely united.

Only Ron couldn’t help asking,

"But Harry said he ran away. He really did run away, right?"

That was true.

Harry sighed.

"Yes. I was completely petrified at the time, and my scar hurt so badly that I couldn’t even stand. A centaur named Firenze saved me. He kicked Voldemort away. Otherwise, I think Voldemort might have killed me!"

Harry spoke angrily.

He was angry at himself.

His enemy had been right in front of him, yet he had been in so much pain that he couldn’t even stand.

He might as well have been a girl like Vesey!

Because of this incident, Harry became even more convinced that Snape might have stolen the Philosopher’s Stone.

He privately told Hermione and Ron that he believed Snape hadn’t stolen the Philosopher’s Stone for himself.

He had stolen it for Voldemort.

"That makes sense. Snape isn’t short of money. He doesn’t seem to need immortality, but his master does!

"And now I understand why he’s so nice to Vesey. He wants her to lower her guard, and then he can hand her over to Voldemort once Voldemort returns!"

"Wait. Have you ever considered that Snape might not actually be the one trying to steal the Philosopher’s Stone? What if it’s Quirrell?"

Hermione looked at them hesitantly.

She didn’t think Snape was necessarily a bad person just because he might be trying to steal the Philosopher’s Stone.

After all, the diary had never mentioned Snape betraying Vesey.

If that wasn’t mentioned, perhaps he really hadn’t betrayed her.

Of course, the diary’s portrayal of Snape was obviously biased, which left Hermione somewhat speechless.

But Harry and Ron were already convinced that Snape was the culprit.

The two of them felt they had solid evidence, unlike Hermione, who only had the diary—and couldn’t use its contents as evidence.

In the end, Hermione stopped arguing and simply listened to Harry and Ron discuss how they could prevent Snape from getting the Philosopher’s Stone.

But they couldn’t discuss it for long.

The exams were rapidly approaching.

To reduce the possibility of cheating, the school issued anti-cheating quills.

Although Vesey could have used Energy Points to alter the quill, she didn’t bother.

When it came to theoretical knowledge, she was already as familiar with the material as the professors themselves.

That afternoon came the practical examinations.

Professor Flitwick asked the students to enter the classroom one by one.

He then instructed them to make a pear tap-dance.

Vesey completed it with ease.

She even made the pear perform several impressive somersaults in the air.

Professor Flitwick was delighted.

Next, Professor McGonagall asked them to transform a mouse into a snuffbox.

The snuffbox Vesey created had a distinctly Chinese style.

Professor McGonagall admired it for a while before asking her to turn the snuffbox back into a mouse.

After all, Vesey had always said she was worried about the animals being harmed.

Even though it was only a mouse, she couldn’t bear to see it mistreated.

She believed that if people wanted to use animals as food, she wouldn’t interfere.

But deliberately abusing an animal was an entirely different matter.

The final subject was History of Magic.

Vesey found the exam extremely easy.

She quickly wrote down all the answers and then began to feel bored.

She was about to watch a movie when the diary inside the system suddenly moved.

Vesey froze.

This was the first time she had ever seen the diary move on its own.

She took out the diary.

Only then did she notice a new message box had appeared beside it.

"System, what’s going on?"

she asked curiously.

[Ding! End-of-semester update complete. The diary has gained a new function.]

[Whenever the host completes a diary entry, each diary holder can ask the host one question.]

[The host can choose whether to answer the question or hide the message box.]

[Note: In the diary holders’ eyes, the host is an unknown entity that distributes the diary. The host’s personal information will not be exposed.]

Vesey suddenly understood.

Her first instinct was to hide the message box.

Who had time to answer all their questions?

But she immediately changed her mind.

Actually, this message box could be very useful.

If she handled it properly, it might even help reduce some of the suspicion surrounding her.

And she had recently been thinking about how to write her next diary entry.

She might as well start now.

After all, she had nothing else to do.

At the same time.

The Burrow.

Mrs. Weasley was cooking at home when she suddenly froze.

A diary had appeared in front of her.

She immediately tried to drive it away with her wand.

However, no matter what she did, the diary remained firmly in front of her.

Then, without even asking for her permission, it opened.

Mrs. Weasley pursed her lips and planned to write to Mr. Weasley for help.

But to her surprise, the moment she even thought about telling someone about the diary or writing about it, she found herself completely unable to speak or write anything.

She understood.

She must have been targeted by some kind of dark magic.

But there was nothing she could do.

The diary was practically stuck in front of her, and before she could do anything else, she found herself looking at its contents.

The moment she saw what was written inside, she froze.

Harry?

Vesey?

And Dumbledore, Snape, Professor McGonagall, Nicolas Flamel...

Mrs. Weasley straightened up and began reading carefully.

It seemed that this diary recorded events from the future.

Even if this diary had really been given to her by some evil being, she still wanted to read it carefully.

At the very least, she wanted to know whether her family would be safe in the future.
