Chapter 98 — What Are You Doing Here?

Vesey knew exactly what was wrong with Harry.

Obviously, Voldemort was excited because he thought he was about to obtain the Philosopher’s Stone.

Of course, it was also possible that Voldemort was excited because he had learned that Harry would become a murderer in the future.

Whenever Voldemort was happy or angry, Harry’s scar would hurt.

That was normal.

Harry would eventually discover that the pain in his scar wasn’t the worst part.

In the future, it might hurt every single day.

But Vesey obviously couldn’t say that out of gloating.

She put on a worried expression.

"Why don’t you go to Madam Pomfrey? Brother, I’ll go with you!"

[Ding! Energy Points +10.]

Harry ruffled her hair.

"Forget it. I’m not going. I know very well that I’m not under too much pressure. I just have this feeling that it has something to do with him."

The "him" he was referring to was obvious.

Voldemort.

Vesey looked even more worried.

"Since it’s related to him, we have to go and check. Maybe he poisoned you."

[Ding! Energy Points +10.]

[Ding! Energy Points +2.]

[Ding! Energy Points +3.]

Everyone laughed.

Harry couldn’t help laughing helplessly when he looked at Vesey.

"Vesey, being poisoned wouldn’t just give me a headache. If I’d been poisoned, I might be vomiting blood!"

Then he noticed Hermione’s expression suddenly darken.

"What’s wrong, Hermione?"

Harry asked worriedly.

Hermione shook her head.

"It’s nothing."

She then quietly squeezed Vesey’s hand.

She remembered what the diary had said.

Vesey had been poisoned by those people while she was still at school.

How many people wanted Vesey dead?

Hermione sighed heavily.

But she quickly cheered herself up.

Things were different now.

She and Professor Snape could both read the diary.

They would definitely be able to protect Vesey.

Harry relaxed when he saw Hermione smiling again.

He had thought he had said something wrong and made her angry.

"All right, Harry, relax. I think you’re probably just nervous because of the Philosopher’s Stone. But Dumbledore is at Hogwarts, and no one can take the Philosopher’s Stone away from him."

Vesey immediately nodded in agreement.

"That’s right. Professor Dumbledore is the strongest!"

Hermione also smiled.

"That’s true. And Harry, think about it. No one has managed to get past Fluffy for such a long time.

"That means no one has figured out how to get through Fluffy’s obstacle yet.

"So what are you afraid of?

"You can’t seriously think Hagrid would betray Dumbledore, can you?"

Harry listened and wanted to nod.

He knew Hagrid had been taken care of by Dumbledore, and Hagrid was deeply grateful to him.

When Uncle Vernon had insulted Dumbledore, Hagrid had even given Dudley a pig’s tail.

Hagrid’s feelings for Dumbledore were genuine.

He wouldn’t betray Dumbledore.

But Harry still felt that something wasn’t right.

Vesey really wanted to tell him exactly what was wrong.

Could Hagrid really keep his mouth shut with that enormous mouth of his?

Before she could say anything, Harry suddenly jumped to his feet, his face pale.

"Where are you going?"

Ron asked.

Vesey and Hermione stood up as well.

Harry answered as he hurried away.

"Don’t you think it’s strange?

"Why would someone bring a dragon egg to a stranger and drink with him?

"Hagrid loves dragons, and then someone just happens to show up with a dragon egg.

"What were they trying to do?"

Vesey put on a surprised expression.

"No... that’s impossible. There’s no way Hagrid would tell anyone..."

Harry gave a bitter smile.

"Under normal circumstances, he probably wouldn’t. But if he was drunk, he might have told them.

"And if he did tell someone, we need to find out now!"

Ron hurried after them, completely confused.

"What are you two talking about?"

But no one answered him.

They ran all the way to Hagrid’s hut.

Hagrid was sitting outside, staring at a pea pod.

When he saw them, he smiled.

"You came at just the right time! I can make some soup for you."

They all refused immediately.

"No, thank you. Hagrid, we have something urgent to ask you.

"Have you ever told anyone how to get past Fluffy?"

Harry asked.

Hagrid looked offended.

"How could I tell anyone? I didn’t even tell you lot! I promised Dumbledore!"

Harry didn’t look relieved.

Instead, he continued.

"Then do you remember what the stranger you were drinking with that day looked like?"

Hagrid shook his head.

"He was wearing a hood. I don’t know."

Seeing the shocked expressions on Harry and the others’ faces, Hagrid casually continued.

"What’s strange about that? The Hog’s Head is like that. Lots of people dress that way, and he wouldn’t take off his hood.

"He was probably a dragon dealer."

Harry and the others sat down on the ground in despair.

"Then what did you talk about?"

Hermione asked anxiously.

Hagrid frowned as he tried to remember.

"He talked about all sorts of things.

"Wait, that’s right. He asked me what I did, and I told him I was the gamekeeper at Hogwarts.

"Then he asked me about animals and things like that...

"Later, I told him how much I liked dragons.

"He said he had a dragon egg, but that if I drank and played cards with him, he’d give it to me if I won..."

Vesey gave a helpless smile.

"Was he particularly interested in Fluffy?"

Hagrid laughed and reached out to pat her hair.

Vesey immediately dodged.

Hagrid had been shelling peas just moments ago.

She didn’t want him touching her hair.

She’d have to wash it tonight!

Hagrid didn’t get angry.

Instead, he smiled and said,

"Of course he was interested! Most people have never even seen a three-headed dog in their lives.

"I told him Fluffy was easy to deal with.

"If you want to calm him down, all you have to do is play music for him..."

Before Hagrid could finish, Harry had already picked Vesey up and started running.

Hagrid shouted after them,

"Don’t run! Slow down! Don’t drop Vesey!"

But nobody paid any attention to him.

Even Vesey didn’t turn around.

She could only wear a helpless expression.

"Hagrid really told someone about it. He really..."

Vesey sighed.

"Forget it. Let’s not talk about Hagrid anymore.

"We need to find Professor Dumbledore now. Someone is after the Philosopher’s Stone.

"We have to find out who it is—or at least make sure the Stone is protected!"

Harry and the others agreed.

They immediately ran toward Dumbledore’s office.

Vesey had been there before, so they went straight there.

But when they arrived, they discovered that Dumbledore was away.

"What should we do?"

Hermione looked anxious.

"What do you mean?"

Harry and the others were still scratching their heads when a voice suddenly came from behind them.

It was Professor McGonagall.

"Why are you loitering around here?"
