Hogwarts: Even Voldemort Can't Stop Me From Studying
Chapter 1269: Hogwarts Safety Regulations 2
In the hall, most of the professors dining put down their cutlery and already frowned.
But the students rarely had such sensitivity.
Every year they had to sign the “Vacation Magic Prohibition Notice” twice, and even students from Muggle backgrounds were hearing certain regulations in the “Confidentiality Law” and “Unestablished Wizard Restraint Law” to the point of being sick of them.
They all felt the focus should be on the latter part, and were eager for Lee Jordan to read faster.
Lee Jordan’s eyelid twitched, feeling uncomfortable, but didn’t have time to think deeply before someone shouted:
“What’s next, Lee?”
Lee Jordan quickly regained focus and continued reading:
“Second, the school will implement a registration system for students’ external communications, and during the cycle of Hogsmeade, the safety envoy will conduct sporadic visits to ensure the safety and control of students’ activities outside the school.”
“Third, the school will establish an ‘Abnormal Behavior Monitoring Mechanism’ to promptly identify students who may be infiltrated, controlled by external forces, or severely psychologically disturbed through daily observation, regular assessments, and peer evaluations.”
“Fourth, each house prefect must submit a weekly ‘House Student Behavior Abnormality Report’, which should include but not be limited to the following abnormal conditions: For example: a sudden academic decline for no apparent reason; Severe isolation; Severe mood swings; Extremist remarks about Muggles, pure-bloods, half-bloods, and related topics; And other abnormal behaviors indicating a student may need help…”
A buzzing sound arose from all directions, drowning out Lee Jordan’s voice.
He couldn’t continue reading, instead, he widened his eyes at the notice’s contents.
He’s been standing there for minutes, but upon reading it aloud again, he still feels as if he doesn’t recognize the words.
Percy Weasley… how dare he?
The nerve Ron was almost about to snap just twitched, a sense of resentment towards work momentarily overwhelmed the pressure of the focused gaze.
He instinctively complained loudly, “Don’t they want us to live? The prefect’s work is already busy enough, now they want a weekly report? Does anyone remember this is our O.W.L.s year?”
But at this moment, probably only Ron was worried about the sudden increase in workload.
Hermione’s face turned pale, her hands tightly twisted her fingers.
Michael sneered: “Communications need to be registered, movements will be ‘visited’, every move will be watched and evaluated, and in the end, prefects will rat you out… Is this still a school? It’s a prison!”
“But…” Leian whispered: “Isn’t it for fear that among the students, some are colluding with bad guys… or are being coerced, so they need to strengthen management?”
Michael raised an eyebrow and instinctively wanted to retort, but upon seeing Leian speaking, he swallowed his words and instead said:
“Think about it… like Neville, when he’s nervous he forgets things, says something wrong, causes a magic potion explosion, then it gets recorded as ‘abnormal behavior’…”
Neville’s face turned white, his previous calm vanished, revealing fear in his eyes.
“And then there’s Luna.” Padma said softly: “She often says strange things, once called ‘Mad Girl’, if now she’s identified with psychological issues…”
She didn’t finish, paused, then looked towards her friend.
“And you, Hermione.”
“If someone resents you for deducting points, or is jealous of your excellence, or simply can’t stand your success, and runs to the security envoy with nonsense…”
She spoke, worry furrowing her brows.
Padma herself was also easy to be the target of jealousy or slander, but she was skilled at socializing, with many friends in Ravenclaw.
Hermione, however, had a straightforward personality, often telling others “You’re wrong” or “You should do this”, her relationship with roommates being merely cordial, and even less with others.
Padma could easily imagine the troubles Hermione would face in peer evaluations.
Hermione bit her lip, slightly raised her head.
“Even so… I won’t ignore violations!”
“Let them talk! If I really get punished for this, it’s not me who’s wrong!”
“Then how will you write the ‘House Student Behavior Abnormality Report’?” Padma calmly asked: “If you truthfully write according to his requirements, you’re betraying your peers; if you don’t, you’re neglectful.”
“Neglectful? This isn’t neglect!” Hermione immediately replied: “My duty as a prefect is to help Professor McGonagall maintain order, care for those in need, not snitch to the Ministry of Magic!”
Padma sighed helplessly, “Alright, I knew you’d say that… Vid, what should we do?”
Vid, having read through all the ‘Safety Regulations’, simply said: “Don’t rush, we’ll discuss later.”
He nodded to Lee Jordan and said, “Please finish reading the rest!”
“Alright, okay.”
Lee Jordan hurriedly agreed, suppressing the urge to rush to the Weasley Twins to discuss countermeasures, raised his magic wand to his throat, and whispered: “Sonorous!”
The next moment, his voice thundered, echoing through the hall to all directions:
“Fifth, the school will establish a high-risk individual archive, conducting classified statistics of students with significant disciplinary violations, taking into account their family backgrounds, social relationships, behavioral changes, and post-graduate paths, implementing effective classified management of current students.”
Outside the crowd, the twins had heard the news and rushed over, catching Lee Jordan’s voice just in time.
“Divide people into ranks? Perfect!”
Fred laughed angrily, his face muscles twitching, as he said:
“George, we’ll have to ask mom when we get back… if they accidentally swapped Percy out when they carried him from the delivery room? I don’t want to admit that such a person shares my blood.”
George remained tense, silent.
Lee Jordan: “Sixth, establish a teacher-student contact registration and review system.”
He took a deep breath, wondering if he’d be strangled by Professor McGonagall after finishing reading.
But with everyone watching, Lee Jordan steeled himself and read aloud:
“Teachers who have non-classroom teaching nature conversations with students alone must submit a brief report within the specified time to prevent abuse, coercion, or inappropriate suggestions from staff to students.”
“Inappropriate suggestions?” a low-grade Hufflepuff student asked in confusion, frowning: “What kind of inappropriate suggestions could professors give us?”
