Chapter 1233: Newly Established Fire Dragon Reserve (2)

He didn’t want to eat these things either, but he had no choice. Wizards can’t conjure food, and these people only know how to take care of Fire Dragons, nothing else.

So all expenses rely on picking up the naturally shed dragon scales from the two Common Welsh Greens to exchange for some Sickles and Galleons, then use that money to buy essentials.

If the money runs out and there are no new scales to collect, they can only find some ingredients nearby.

Seeing Birdman’s awkward expression, Kael didn’t say anything more, just picked up his cup and took a sip of pine needle tea, then silently placed the cup back on the table.

Bitter and astringent, it wasn’t even as good as plain water.

“Alright, let’s get straight to the point.” Kael paused, “Mr. Strick should already know the purpose of our visit, or perhaps that gentleman didn’t relay it to you.”

Kael found this place relying on previous memories. But due to the time difference, he had no idea where he was when he first arrived, and after walking for quite a while, he finally bumped into a Wizard.

Upon learning Kael’s purpose, the other party was so excited that they almost fainted, and ran off hurriedly, saying that they must get the most important person to receive Kael.

So, the previous scene happened. Within five minutes, Kael was greeted by Birdman.

“I heard Mukaldo mention it.” Birdman perked up instantly, “Is it true what you said? About deciding to fund the Fire Dragon Reserve!”

“Of course, I came here precisely for that,” Kael said with a smile, “But my abilities are limited, and I might not be able to provide too much funding.”

Upon hearing this, Birdman was momentarily stunned and then displayed a hint of disappointment.

Indeed, looking at this person who seemed under twenty, though accompanied by a servant, at that age, it wasn’t certain who was taking care of who. Likely from a declining family, such a person might struggle to solve their current predicament.

But Birdman quickly dismissed these thoughts.

Regardless, having anyone willing to support the Fire Dragon Reserve was great, even if it meant they could have a proper lunch for a week; it was a thrilling change… At least it showed there were supporters for this decision.

“No worries, you don’t need to mind,” Birdman said sincerely, taking out a parchment and asking, “How much Galleons would you like to contribute… Of course, Sickles are fine too, I can provide you with a certificate.”

The Fire Dragon Reserve may be penniless, but it’s a legitimate organization recognized by the International Confederation of Wizards, with proper procedures.

For instance, during the construction phase, sponsorship is equivalent to collaboration, and there will be returns… Although these returns aren’t much, and cannot be obtained immediately either.

“Three thousand Galleons.” Kael said calmly.

“Okay, three thousand…”

“Wait…” Birdman suddenly lifted his head, “How much did you say?!”

“Three thousand Galleons,” Kael said, as he directly placed a box on the table and opened it.

As if a golden glow surged out from inside,

The quill suddenly snapped, making Birdman feel a pang of heartache — it was the last quill in the reserve, but soon he had no mood to care about such things.

The golden light emanating from the box made him dizzy. He felt as if he was floating on clouds, raising glasses with the stars, and lying on the waves listening to the enchanting songs of merpeople…

“Mr. Strick… Mr. Strick? Are you okay… What should we do, Professor, he doesn’t seem to hear me.”

“Try to stimulate him a bit.”

“Oh.”

Immediately, a sharp pain came from the foot.

The stars turned into apes, beating their chests and overturning his glass, even the merpeople transformed, enchanting songs into deafening screeches.

Birdman finally came back to his senses.

He immediately looked down, only to see a round Chomping Cabbage biting fiercely on his shin, the increasingly clear pain made cold sweat pour down.

“You’re finally awake,” Kael said with a smile, “Sorry, you weren’t responding to calls, so I had to resort to this method.”

“No, no problem,” Birdman managed to pull the corners of his mouth, “he bent down difficultly and pulled the cabbage off his leg, wincing in pain.”

However, upon seeing what it was, Birdman suddenly froze.

“Wait, isn’t this… a Chinese Chomping Cabbage?” he exclaimed.

This magical plant from Asia isn’t cheap, just one in Diagon Alley costs two Galleons, and fresh ones are even more expensive.

For a moment, his leg didn’t seem to hurt as much, seeing the round shape, neat set of teeth, it was just beautiful.

What, you say it bites people… Pfft, don’t speak ignorantly; that’s called lively.

The only pity was that this lively little cutie wasn’t his.

Birdman reluctantly returned the Chomping Cabbage to Kael.

“Uh…” seeing Birdman’s affectionate look, Kael just couldn’t bear to act like he was snatching love away, so he waved and said: “Forget it, you can have it.”

As if fearing Kael might change his mind, Birdman quickly embraced the Chomping Cabbage, not caring about being bitten again.

That practiced motion, the determined look, was heart wrenching.

“Mr. Strick,” Kael had to remind again, “Shall we take care of the main business first?”

Prompted by this, Birdman recalled that there was still a matter even more important than the Chomping Cabbage waiting for him.
