Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard

Chapter 1237: Kael’s True Purpose (Part 3)

“Two centuries?” Kael looked him up and down, “Do you even want to listen to what you’re saying?”

Birdman felt a bit embarrassed too.

“Ninety-eight years is my bottom line,” Kael said, “And during that time, it would be enough for the Fire Dragon Reserve to grow and expand. I’m just raising a few little dragons; it won’t threaten you guys at all.

“But if you feel it’s inappropriate, then forget it.”

Kael said, and forcibly grabbed a handful of gold coins.

Birdman was almost in tears.

Over the past two years, this person in front of him was the only one to come and make a donation, and who knows how much longer he’d have to wait for the next one.

But three hundred Galleons really isn’t enough.

Just as he was hesitating, Kael reached out his wicked hand again, mumbling softly, “These could buy me a set of chairs.”

Another handful…

“These could make a table. I like Wiggentree tables; they help me focus while reading.”

Another handful…

“These could buy Goblin-made silverware… It’s costly, but they’re essential for adding a touch to life.”

This handful alone had at least twenty Galleons, enough to feed ten Dragon Tamers for a month… Adding a touch to life?

“I agree!”

A line of defense in Birdman’s heart crumbled.

“Ninety-eight years, right… I agree!”

Kael’s lips curled into a slight smirk but quickly returned to normal.

“No problem, Mr. Strick.” He said nonchalantly, “Actually, you don’t need to feel pressured. I’ve thought about it; building a residence here isn’t bad. At least I won’t need to spend my own money to raise dragons, and there’ll be a variety of species. Come to think of it, I’m getting quite a bargain.”

“No pressure, no pressure at all.” Birdman said quickly, “I’ve thought it over, you’re right. Since we have to cooperate with other Magizoologists, why not choose someone more familiar? Your generosity and kindness perfectly meet our criteria for selecting collaborators.”

“But raising dragons on your own is a considerable expense too.” Kael looked at the gold coins in the box, hesitated for a moment, then shook his head, “Let’s forget it. I think living here is just fine.”

Whoosh!

Yet another handful of gold coins disappeared.

Birdman was genuinely crying, wishing he could slap himself twice.

Why… Why did he refuse him earlier?

Just like he said, ninety-eight years is enough for the Fire Dragon Reserve to grow strong. If he really does anything illegal, they can just revoke the Dragon Raising Certificate.

Wizards talk about strength, about background…

Luckily, they have the International Confederation of Wizards behind them, but the other party… at that time, he’ll just be a hundred-year-old wizard; how could he possibly fight against such a colossal entity?

They could absolutely take the initiative.

“Um… Sir, you don’t know, living here is really uncomfortable.” With this realization, Birdman’s expression changed immediately, he said with a bitter look.

“The wind and sand are strong here, when it blows, it’s dust everywhere.”

“No problem, I can handle that.”

“The Fire Dragons’ roars also affect rest; they howl in the middle of the night, disturbing peaceful dreams.”

“It’s fine, magic can solve that.”

“Well… there’s no place for entertainment here either.” Birdman stammered, “When you want to go to a pub for a drink, there’s no way.”

Kael paused his hand grabbing the coins, and fell into hesitation.

There’s hope!

Birdman’s eyes lit up.

“When we chose the location, we picked such a remote place to perfectly avoid Muggles and Wizards; who would open a tavern in such a place, right?

“London is better, Diagon Alley is so lively, you can go for a drink anytime, and besides, close to the Ministry of Magic, it’s convenient for handling matters.”

“Makes sense.” Kael stroked his chin.

“Exactly.” Birdman said with a bright smile to Kael, “Honestly, if it weren’t for the circumstances, I wouldn’t want to live in this lousy place either. You see, the roof even leaks.”

“But the costs of raising dragons…” Kael was still a bit hesitant, “And I just realized, even if I don’t care, Fire Dragons themselves are outrageously expensive, it’s not feasible.”

“We’ll cover it, we’ll cover all of it.” Birdman patted his chest, “Once the Dragon Raising Certificate is in force, we’ll cover all your dragon-related expenses at the reserve. Besides, I can promise to give you one… well, two Dragon Eggs.”
